Related music note - yesterday was Record Store Day with a bunch of limited releases. I did my part on Earth Day by driving my SUV unnecessarily all over the valley to chase down a couple rare vinyl finds. The unfortunate part of RSD is that a lot of the releases are up on eBay for 2x-3x the price. glad I never got sucked into the RSD hype. There were a couple of 7" releases I've been eyeballing but figured there was a cold chance in hell of nabbing either of them. I kinda knew the flippers were gonna come in and buy up whatever they could find too. that's the ultimate downside to collecting vinyl. I don't look to collect them necessarily, as I fully intend to unwrap them from the cellophane and listen to them (gasp!)...but I see no need to pay more than 2x the price to listen to an unreleased Bowie concert, when there are others with essentially the same setlist ('76).

I collect vinyl, or used to, but don't do it so that I can flip albums. I have, for example, purchased ltd releases with the intention of listening to them but then forgot about them so then they sat shrinkwrapped for awhile. I've only ever sold off a couple of hard-to-get releases, but this was a couple of years after they were released. A lot of ltd releases that I might buy are albums on a certain colored vinyl, like 1000 or 1500, so in that sense they're not limited. The Mono album I mentioned at the top of the page is an example. It was a limited colored vinyl release, and the first vinyl release for that matter, from a band that I love. It's still in the shrinkwrap as I own the cd and my turntables are packed away so I can't exactly listen to it.

Indeed. Sorry to hear that this morning.
Listened to Badmotorfinger on the way into work this morning at a stupid volume for a 43 year old.

I met Colter Wall after a concert in Columbus, Ohio - he was the opener for Ward Davis and Cody Jinks (also two awesome dudes you guys should check out) I walked up to the bar in my IHSH-141 and lo and behold the guy next to me is Colter Wall. I told him he did a great job put a hand on his shoulder (dude was wearing an AMAZING leather western) and I should have asked him where he had gotten it, but I was already many cold ones in at this point and, well, you guys know how that goes I'm sure. The dude is about to get pretty big in his little part of the world though I think, and I was just happy to hear of him - I honestly didn't know he was playing that night but I got a pleasant surprise!

He played a brewery session somewhere live and it was on YouTube and it was definitely the best versions of both this song and also The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie - but it got taken down. Hopefully Colter's people re-release it!

Whitey Morgan is also a boss, especially if you like that old time country/southern rock - I saw him live with Ward Davis at the Rusty Spur in Fort Wayne, Indiana and I was wearing the IHSH-141 then too - and he was awesome live!

I am a huge music guy so I have to get some going in here. I was talking about Pink Floyd with some musicians who of course like them but had never listened to or heard Pink Floyd at Pompeii. I showed this to them and they were freaking out as they had never seen it. Sounds like a good one to post here. One of my favs. Good late night listening/watching Post up what you are all into at your leisure. Audio or video. It funny , I am a huge Pink Floyd fan too...but...I went to see this as a kid when it was in the cinema. I've never been so bored in my life. I think as an intro to Floyd it might put some folks off. Just my view but apart from the Wall tour they are hardly a 'live band' unless you love the music.

Another life taken, too soon, by his own hand. May you rest in peace, Chester...
Oddly enough, his good friend Chris Cornell would have turned 53, today.
