Thinking about doing this. I don't need anything. Anything I buy now is just either vanity, impulse, a chasing after the wind. I already have some really nice stuff and want to put some time in them. And I really just want to simplify my life.

And I really just want to simplify my life. I feel like someone could pull it off. Maybe you? I guess if the motivation is right, it's totally doable. I have debated this, simply because I'm in the same boat as you - I don't need anything, it's all vanity/impulse/wants. Go for it!

And I really just want to simplify my life. I totally support this. I really want to do the same. I'm considering getting in a GMTO for a pair of shell boots in Color #8, which usually takes about 6-8 months, and be done purchasing anything.

there is only one piece that I would consider buying that I would use a lot. A Le Laboureur Moleskin jacket if I found it at the right price (I love the Le Laboureur wool jacket I have and get the most complements over any other piece I own) but that would be it.
I'd allow myself alterations, tailoring of existing clothes. I'm also thinking of expanding the No Spend on any "Thing" , not just clothing for myself (my family would not be part of this).

I love the idea. I think it could be accomplished. Hell, I'd try it, and probably will. But, I have 3 must haves to fill.....
1. A nice pair of brown boots. I have none. Crazy ! Right ?
2. IH-707 (waiting on RB restock) I have no khaki chinos. Again, crazy !
3. New Balance M577ETO (waiting on price drop) I have no orange kicks. Crazy ? Maybe, not so. I just want them.
If I can fill these 3 needs, I'm all in. Everything else could wait.
Edit: After a year, I would be splurging on a pair of TFH, Samurai, and horsehide engineer boots, though.

LOL... this forum? 90 days, maybe. 1 year, not going to happen.... except if buying tops, undershirt, socks, pants, footwear, leather goods and accessories are all excluded from the one year no spend, then maybe. The coming fall season is going to be brutal.

I'll try to stick to "1 in 1 out"... So far, it's futile, nobody is biting on my for sale items!

And I really just want to simplify my life. it can definitely be done. I'm already a month into my 90 day no spend and it's been fairly easy. There have been a few things out recently that I really wanted to splurge on, like a 3sixteen crosscut flannel and a pair of Ande Whall jeans, but those are purely impulse buys. That's also close to $500 that i'm saving. I need to wear what I have and simplify my life as well. Just trying to be content with what I have rather than succumb to my OCD spending habits.

I guess I'm farther along than I thought I was. My last significant clothing purchase was on 1/4 (Chippewas) and ash grey chinos from TS later that month. I recently grabbed a new pair of suit pants for a work gala with the gf, only to return then when we weren't able to make it to the event. I've been trying to put some wear on my existing wardrobe.
I think it's doable only because I'm not really needing more denim. Maybe there will be a one-off drop from someone that I need to get, but my "wish list" is really specific at this point. And I think it helps that I'm not overly swayed by any recent drops by the usual suspects.

OK I'm doing it! ONE YEAR NO SPEND! Starting today. I'm tired of chasing the next best "Thing". But I'll need your help, lol. Funny thing, I thought I'd post this Thread as an April Fools Joke. Jokes on me

Okay, I'll put the odds on DigDug at 5 months. I feel like the fall line/drops at that time could be a weak point (if I'm going to guess when he breaks).

I'm kind of curious if I can do it. In full disclosure, I do have a couple pairs of chinos backed from CF and G. So that'll hold me for a couple of months. Then it'll be summer which should be easy. I agree, come fall it'll get hard. But I'm gonna give myself that one buy item (moleskin jacket).

I'll try to stick to "1 in 1 out"... So far, it's futile, nobody is biting on my for sale items! For a year or so, I stuck to a "1 in 2 out" strategy and that helped, but also became a rationalization to selectively upgrade.
