^^ nice. I was tempted to snag a pair of the sumi ink denim from East Dane - it's 40% off right now and priced at $132. But, I went with United Stock Dry Goods instead. I almost purchased a pair of United Stocks at Blue Owl. in the indigo/indigo color. But decided to go with the Sumi for the potential of drastic fades! What pair did you end up buying. regular indigo,indigo/indigo,or black?

This thread made me chuckle a bit! But over all it looks like an excellent and quality made shirt! I am afraid to ask how much $$?

I just received these the other day. They are Naked and Famous Loomstate Denim. I ordered these in the weird guy fit. I wear size 36, and I ordered these in size 38 expecting a good amount of shrink. I did a tepid soak. for one hour. Just a little release of starch and indigo a lot less than expected. I hung them outside to dry for my own "TENPI" treatment. . when I put them on after drying they where still stiff but not over bearing to wear. I wore them for about two hours just doing chores around the house. And they now fit me perfectly. I measured the waist and it is 36 1/2. and maybe lost about an inch in length. The denim is pretty neppy with just slight slubbiness and a very nice indigo color. I think these will quickly become my favorite pair. And I intend keep them for a more dressy pair of jeans. And use the Sumi jeans for work. It was hard to photograph the little nepps or slubs of cotton. if I am using the terminology correctly. But looking at it in person. It reminds me of Oni denim. I have never seen a pair of Gustin loomstate denim in person. I will let you guys be the judge to see if this pair from Naked&Famous are comparable.

I love unique selvedge denim and became interested in the Sumi Ink coated jean Naked&Famous created. But really sold me on them was a post by Bahzad Trinos on instagram of the pair he had been wearing. link
I ordered these in the skinny guy fit. I wondered if this denim would smell heavily of the sumi ink. So, the first thing I did upon opening the box was smell the denim. It only had a slight smoky scent. The denim is very textural to the hand and kind of slubby the denim is so dark it is hard to see it. Also I tried on a pair of Kamikaze Attack jeans at Blue Owl work-shop a few months ago and these Sumi ink jeans instantly reminded me of the feel of that denim. I read that Brandon Svarc is buddies with the owner of Kamikaze attach denim co. So it would not surprise me if he was involved in the creation of these. These jeans are quite stiff when brand new. With the combination of the ink and the starch I could not button these up to wear them properly. So I did a slight warm soak for 1/2 hour. I was worried that the ink coating on the patch would come off. during the soak much starch was released and the water was a tad grey in color. But post soak the leather patch is still glossy black and the denim is still very dark. It was a success I can now button them up wear them properly. I intent to beat the Sumi out of these jeans to see if I can get some good contrasting fades. I work in a warehouse shipping&receiving department and help out on my family's farm when needed. So I am sure this won't be a problem! here are the new out of box photos to look at!

I purchased these at a SuperDry clothing store in the Uk. about a year and a half ago. As my signature states I am a sucker for details! At the time of this purchase. I have never seen a pair of jeans with so much thought put into them. The Thick leather patch full of detail. The riveted stress points and the details on the buttons and rivets. The silk screened pocket bags. The full tailoring on the inside of the waist band and the hang to dry loop. The selvedge edge detailing on the pockets. the chain stitched hem Etc. Granted this might be a little over-kill for some. I asked the sales clerk that was helping me If they knew what type of denim was used? I was told that is was cotton from Africa and milled in Japan. I think they said that the mill started with a "K". Ok pretty good for a starter pair . I know much more about Denim and Japanese Denim mills today as apposed to a year ago. And I wonder Is this pair of jeans "Zimbabwe" cotton milled at Kaihara or Kuroki ?! Was I that lucky in choosing this pair?!. I do know for-sure that the denim is almost silky feeling and soft. and that I love wearing them. I use these as my more dressy pair of jeans. so I don't wear them a great deal. maybe twice a month. If wore these at work I would destroy them in a short time. Has anyone else ever heard of this denim company besides me ? I have never seen them in the U.S.A.?<br>

I own some very esoteric brands that few people in the denim communities consider viable. But I am a sucker for details and this is a whole new ball game for me somewhat. The brands I currently own and that I wear regularly are these, Levi Strauss, Guess,Old Navy,DCShoes Denim division,SuperDry,PeopleVsWest.
Thanks to this forum and RwarDenim I have been educating myself on the different brands of Selvedge Denim for sale.
A long while ago I spent time in Okinawa Japan and Hawaii and over there I wore Levi Red-label and Evisu and Edwin. And if memory serves correct I somewhat remember the name John bull.
But, I had no idea what I had at the time, I had other interests at that time in my life and the denim jeans I had where just work jeans that I remember the names of. Now after educating myself about the history of Denim jeans and particularity Japanese Denim companies. I wish now I knew exactly what pairs of jeans I had back then.
I am waiting to receive some Naked and famous jeans and Ciano Farmer jeans I ordered a while ago.
Those jeans should be in the mail as I write this. and will post them soon. hopefully.
Ha ha, Joffrey sounds too British and upper crusty, I am far from that, Jeff is fine though.

Hello, I am Jeff, or as some of my friends call me Jeffro. I guess it is because I am a big strapping guy , And my family farms alfalfa for sale as Hay bales. Also I have been known down copious amounts of food when hungry. And Yes I have gotten a giant mixing bowl and ate a box of cereal a time or two. In-case any one was wondering. Jeffro is a play on words of the character Jethro, from old television show "The Beverly Hillbillies" Jethro Bowdin.
I have only a few true selvedge denim jeans in my collection. But I am adding more as soon as I figure out what I truly like in a well made denim jean.
I found this forum a while ago and have been looking at the various post trying to educate myself on the different types of selvedge denim jeans. I find this forum to be to most easy going and helpful. I have tried a couple of the other denim forums but I did not have fun on them and some of the people treated newbies poorly. This place seems more to my liking.
