Flip flops and 22oz denim, as promised: ... that's fine, but the pic has obviously been taken at home ... not a place where I would be wearing any Church's or Barker's (I would be buying US shoes if I were living in USA ...) ..... any pic of flips outdoors? I'll snap one for you next time I'm out. I wear the combo all the time, thanks to my old Abercrombie & Fitch days. To me, flops are appropriate any time, any place and any day..... EXCEPT at restaurants. Which, you would think I'd be over that considering many Japanese restaurants that have seating on tatami mats require you to remove your footwear before sitting to eat. But, I avoid those places at all costs usually

Bought a pair of Birkenstocks today.
Size 42 Arizona dark brown. Went to DSW with the gf. Not sure if it's because I'm over tired or not. Gonna try them with a few outfits in my house see how they go. $83 ain't cheap so they may go back.

Arizonas are great brentkuz. Welcome to 1995! I have a pair of arizonas that I essentially wear as house slippers to ward off a recurrence of plantar fasciitis.

Gotta go back to DSW and swap them for size 41.
Still not sold on them. My gf likes them. Tells me I look younger with with them on.

Frankly, I like the milanos better for wearing outside--they're more secure with the backstrap. However, if you are used to wearing flippies, then the lack of a strap on the back will not bother you. I will tell you that it takes a while to get used to them . . . the contour of the footbed is quite aggressive. However, once you've worn them a week or so, they loosen up and get really comfy.

You're only thinking about the individual pieces of the outfit, but aren't considering the style and confidence of the individual.
Someone who knows how to successfully wear strange items/faux pas outfits will look far better than someone who doesn't know how to wear what's cool/in style/fashionable.

I think you're right to a point with that but some outfits look super try hard and out of place. Fashion can be polarizing. Have a look at this guy. Unless you're in a band, on stage or 16, eye makeup is a serious stretch. The highwaters and goofball collar are a bit silly, but that outfit better fitted sans the geisha makeup would actually be fine.

He reminds me of Johnny Depp, but might just be me. All white people look the same (I'm Asian).

I'd say, look for something less "dandy", like normal dudes in the IH "WAYWT" thread. 2 guys could be wearing very similar outfits, but one guy will look terrible, or terribly uncomfortable.

Some people are just awkward regardless what they are wearing when you put a camera on them.
I think the guy looks horrible. A tailored Guy Fawkes. Make up, high waters etc.
I see a lot of people walking out of court looking extremely comfortable in their "felony" fleece sweatpants, slippers and hoody doesn't make it right.

Lol, you're adding a situation to it. I'm talking just the pure visual, because that's what fashion is.
Btw, congrats on the Birkenstocks

It is amusing that we can talk fashion and Birks in the same thread. Wore my birks around the house for a little bit last night. Very laid bad feel to them. Just trying to this what these would look good with? Or what they look good with where boat shoes won't look better. They are hard to pull off. Maye I need a Patagonia fleece.

Don't let popular clothing dictate fashion to you! The only reason work shirts and work boots are "fashionable" NOW in 2015, is because some dudes who didn't give a fcuk about other people's opinions made it look cool!!! Thank the hipsters for wanting to dress like ranch hands, coal miners, train conductors and lumber jacks

Think you're thinking too much... If I thought too much, I wouldn't own a kick-ass IH hickory stripe western shirt, or my RT utility work shirt, OR A Gustin work shirt, or my 2 LD work shirts that ALL get LOADS of compliments! Because, my initial thought was (Hopefully this doesn't cross any lines here here) that people would think "Why the fcuk is this black guy dressed like a damn cowboy?!?!?". Luckily, I went with my gut and wore exactly what I like with lots of confidence, because everyone thinks they look GREAT on me.

And will probably never see it in Asia.

Let's be clear - Birk's are not good-looking. I have shit that's comfy and serves a purpose - crocs for garden work, etc. But Birk's just look like something Elton John wears to the Whole Foods and nothing more. Let's not confuse function with appeal or this forum will lose members faster than an LD Kickstart campaign...
