I had to pull the trigger on these to see what would come to pass. With the KS discount before the price hike, it was a cheap bet.
Now I'm genuinely curious. I actually forgot about these completely.....maybe it's better that way lol.

So that means they are way ahead of time then right? ? They're weaving the yarn into jeans, no more sewing.

Rawer recently did a series on "cotton to jeans". Very interesting stuff. As Ive thought running looms is a very specialized trade. Much of it are trade secrets. You can't just read a book and then do it. Unless AS hires someone qualified this will never happen.
Are any of the people here that bought these getting process updates etc? Refunds?

No updates.. doubt they'll come in as scheduled in September, but I think almost everyone who bit is just leaving it to LD or at least waiting until September before adding for refunds. Will be interesting to see what LD says to avoid refunding in September.

I'm sure what to do about these orders is completely off their radar until 10/1 lol

I'm curious as well. Especially since they were supposed to be looming the denim and sewing it up in he Tuscon factory. Now that it is closing, is the project being redirected to LA, are they abandoning it (without telling people), or are they going to use the heavyweight Japanese denim that they advertised awhile back and present it as their own?
So many choices.

I may not have the details fully in memory correctly, but did they ever explicitly state this would be in house woven denim? I thought I remember it being somewhat vague (no pictures, disclaimer about potential weight variance in the final product, etc) so that the final delivery could be satisfied somewhat flexibly. Again, I could be misremembering and did not back them, so don't have a horse in the race either way.

I don't have a hourse in this race either. But this is what was asked and answered by Roman over on the RTW thread. bigblack said:How is the 24 oz fabric coming along? I can't wait to wear the jacket i ordered. But moving to LA in september, I doubt i will wear it a lot. We will have it ready for Sept. The test runs are very promising. I don't think we will make it again though. Read more: selvedgestyle.com/thread/908/lawless-denim-ready-wear?page=21#ixzz3bxmavnuw

Kahla told me three weeks ago that my order "was printed off and is waiting to be cut". Whatever that means. Especially with the new information that the fabric is not ready.

I think that was the standard response to any question about any order. The 24oz won't be around till September and even then I don't think LD/Roman has a clue what it will really be.

So they're releasing a 23oz indigo and black/black they said are Japanese. But I asked about the previous funding for their in house denim and they said yes they are the same...

But I asked about the previous funding for their in house denim and they said yes they are the same... the 23oz is the same Ciano is selling, it's also on pacblue denim right now. I hope that the person you were talking to is simply mistaken, otherwise Roman has some splainin' to do since he said they were still running looms (but likely won't again) when he was here 5/31. Honestly, though, you're probably coming out ahead if they use the 23oz Japanese denim. Unless you were into it for Supima cotton, in which case you'll probably be annoyed.

I would think the 23oz indigo, and black/black are the same denims that Ciano is offering, since they source from the same place. I doubt anyone will ever see a heavyweight denim made on a loom by LD, but time will tell.

i forgot about this LD endeavor...what ever happened to those who placed orders? any updates, refunds/cancellations? still on track for a september release? Roman fielded a question about this while he was here for the QA. It was either in the order update thread or ready to wear, don't remember.
