33F coldest weather I have experienced for the year. Am up in northern Minnesota for whitetail deer season opener tomorrow. Will post some pics later. Hopefully of a dead deer. If not my cool blaze orange outerwear.

Winter has arrived in Wisconsin..... The Chicago area got it worse than we did, though. yeah, it started with a fury last night, several (5-ish) inches this morning. it's still coming down, but it's warmed up so that it's a gross mix of rain/snow and has melted most of what fell last night. unfortunately the temp is supposed to drop and get windy...likely freezing this mess and dropping more on top.

That sounds fun. Please don't share the wealth. Kinda enjoying the weather right now on the east coast.

That's crazy. You'll have to add even another color to the temperature chart this year. It is F 14 here this morning. Crazy cold for this early.

What's up with this weather??? Arizona was the coldest state yesterday hitting 11 degrees in northern Az. It was in the high 20's at my house last night while the east coast has a little "heat wave" going on. Weird.

I've shoveled about 8" or so of snow so far today in Denver, if it helps you feel like you're whining.

Northern Minnesota is wanting cooler weather to freeze the lakes so people can ice fish which is a very big business these days for the resorts. Lots of jobs depend on it. People canceling fishing trips because of no ice.

DigDug bought all the snow clearing supplies, so now the climates have flipped.

After last winter I've personally made it be a warm winter. I bought 3 new SnowBlowers, 6 Shovels, Plenty of Salt, New Wool jacket/overalls, The best gloves, 3 sets of snow tires, 4Cords wood, remote car starter, Alpaca Hat! So of coarse it's a mild winter, Your All Welcome. PS. And an Allwheel drive Subaru Read more: selvedgestyle.com/thread/1508/overalls?page=1#ixzz3uR4cf8Dr

People canceling fishing trips because of no ice. Stupid question, but, you can't go fishing in water? Good question. Usually everyone puts their boats away in the fall. Boat motors can freeze if they have any water still in them and cause major damage. It can be above freezing one day and 30-40 degrees colder the next day this time of year. There is ice on some of the lakes. Not enough to walk on. There needs to be quite a bit to put fish houses, snowmobiles and more for vehicles. On many of the bigger lakes there is literally a two lane plowed road for people to drive. Sometimes you're driving 20 miles out. It's pretty cool. People will just start out just walking on the ice with no fish house or a small portable fish house early on with the thin ice.

@winterland
So are there small ice fishing groups/community's? Is it the fishing or the hanging out that draws people out? Or is it getting away from everyone and the seclusion? I think of the movie - Grumpy Old Men

@winterland So are there small ice fishing groups/community's? Is it the fishing or the hanging out that draws people out? Or is it getting away from everyone and the seclusion? I think of the movie - Grumpy Old Men It's all of the above and sometimes exactly like grumpy old men. I love it. It's very relaxing. On remote lakes not much phone signal. I bring a radio play some music, some beverages, lunch etc. All types of fish houses from very economical canvas ones to fully decked out ones with satellite TV and bunk beds. Sleep overnight with lines in the water. On a couple of the bigger lakes at night it looks like a city all of the lights hundreds of fish houses. This just happened recently. Big chunk of ice broke off and 50 fishermen stranded. www.kare11.com/story/news/2015/12/14/dozens-ice-fishing-on-upper-red-lake-rescued/77310616/
