If I want to send my Zimbs back to be re-patched, do I need to contact Gustin to get my own RMA approval? Or can I just send them to the address in Ren's email posted above?

I shot them a note and got a response back already. Same offer as above. I really appreciate the quick response. Also, in my response Ren added: "Please note that our factory is fairly particular about the state of the denim they touch for repairs. If your jeans appear worn or dirty they will not repair them and I will have to send them back. Please make sure they are in good condition before sending them."
Figured I would relay that bit to the group.

He (Ren) sent me a shipping notice for a new patch within 30 minutes of my email. I'm going to saddle stitch it on myself, so no reason to send back. Guess I'll have to put a BMF veg tan on another pair of Gs.

I got the regular 15oz zimbs first time they were offered. I got the wrong patch. Gustin sent me a patch and $10 credit to pay for it to be sewed on. They have had MONTHS to figure out this mistake and again dropped the ball on the 18oz zimbs too. These errors are what is killing G and giving them a bad name. I love my zimbs but these errors keep piling up. At least they are willing to work with everyone.

At least they are willing to work with everyone. according to what they said, it was the whole run that got the wrong patch, so it's another example of something that could have easily been caught if they ran a sample piece(s) to QC prior to blasting through the whole run. seems like all of the more major production and sizing issues could have been salvaged that way.

Like Old26, I'm not too fussed about patches; dig the cool ones & the others, well, ho hum. Recently washed my Black2's and the thin patch crocked brown, in a major way, over the denim. That such components weren't trialled/tested pre-production is puzzling...but, imo, silly/disappointing, really.
I'm still waiting for my Zim18's to arrive in Sydney, so I've been keen to hear the reviews of brahs in the US who've already got 'em. Mainly hearing about another QC issue - but I'm hoping that the Zim18's have really neat texture (as claimed by G) and I will be removing the unremarkable & potentially destructive patch from my jeans when they arrive.
DownUnder, we're "a day ahead" - so it's already Christmas Eve here!! Merry Christmas to all the members and their families. Amazing tone & talent across the membership of this fine forum. Have a goody, stay safe.

Not heaps of members posting up about their Zim18's. Been wearing the 23's daily for 5 months. So pulled Zim18's outta the bag. Subtle irregularity in the fine weave texture. The denim looks like it was made by elves. The fit is perfect - I stayed true to size, 32 & didn't size up as G recommended. Bit mesmerised by the fabric. They are IMMEDIATELY comfortable. It is almost impossible to believe this denim is 18oz (but I do, I do! . They feel like a mid-weight. Refined. Been wearin' em for 30 mins & they are ridiculously soft & totally comfortable. Single contrast thread on the inseam - dig it! The stitching is immaculate on this pair! Bartacks. Nice pockets. A-OK. A week ago, I grizzled a little about the patch biz; not a biggy for me - though these DESERVE a cool patch - but I'll remove it & no probs. I'm amazed by their light, soft feel and by the fineness of the fabric. These jeans are deluxe denim. 23's are in the closet now - I LOVE the 23's but I can't take these Zim18's off (& yes, they are easy to put on & take off). Dark indigo ninja jeans, whatever. These jeans are remarkable! I'm EXTREMELY impressed by these jeans - pound for pound, they could be G's finest denim, imo. Thank you Gustin!!!

18oz zimbs and loomies are the only two Gustin jeans I'm still in the market for.
How did the 23's break in and fade?

Brent, after 5 months daily wear, they've softened & aged w/ some nice fades here & there. The 23's, to me, were always gonna be streety. Very tough, masculine. The effort to break 'em is/was well worth it. They've got character now & will only improve. I'm very happy w/ how they're developing. I'll post up some pics in the coming weeks.

Well, there was a pair of Zim18s in the stock store in my size, and now they will be mine. I hope everything is good with them so I can complete my personal Gustin Zim family. Love my 10-oz and 15-oz Zims so much; it's hard to resist being a total snob and resolving to never buy anything but this sort of long-staple cotton denim ever again.

Mattbert, damn...you make me realise that I NEED the 10oz Zims!!! (Said it before, this is a sickness!!!) Zims are such distinctive denim; the look, the feel, the longevity. Really cool that you were able to score the Zim18's, Mattbert!!! We both know you gonna LOVE 'em, brah!!! Wanna know if Zim denim is available in colours other than indigo ( ). Yeah, me too - I'm totally converted to the Temple of Zim!!

The 10 oz Zim on my work shirt feels like 12 oz cone and is way more distinctive looking. I'd rock a pair of 10 oz Zim jeans in the summer for sure.

Almost like the Pima Fires, but a bit more subtle. I may try to sell a couple of my other lightweight denims because I anticipate the ZimLites being my go-to when summer rolls around again. They are every bit as impossibly crispysoft as the 15-ouncers.

Has anyone hot washed their Zimbs (14oz)?
Mine are a size too big and have this strange "hip bulge" when I'm standing up straight. Like a Mountie's pants.
I read someone on Gustin's Community saying they soaked theirs and they shrank quite a bit. If I remember correctly the shrink was as much as their Loomies (?)
I have maybe 15 wears on mine. I have thought about selling them but it seems, based on what I have seen, nobody wants jeans with more than 2-3 wears. So, since I am unlikely to be able to sell them, I am seriously considering a hot soak...

So I did an initial warm (probably more luke warm) soak, and then a hand wash a couple of months later at roughly the same water temp. Over those two events, the inseam went from 35 to 34 inches. Didn't pay as much attention to hip and thigh, but anyway only point I'm making is that yeah, this denim has potential to shrink up a fair deal. I'd give it a shot.

Not sure if all the Zimbs were made in the same factory, but the factory used the brown patches for them instead of veg tan.

Cuz that's what I'm talkin 'bout. I couldn't remember any mentions of the veg tan patch mix-up on the Zim18, but maybe I just missed them in the chorus of discussion about the 15-ouncers.
