I shot an email to Gustin regarding the brown patch my Zimbs came with instead of the veg tan patch, and Ren replied by saying we have a couple options. Either they can mail us the veg tan patch, and we can get it sewed by our local tailor, or we can ship them back to Gustin to have them sew it for us, but there will be about a two week turnaround time. I'm not in a hurry to wear these until I get them the way I want, so I'm considering shipping them to Gustin and having them take care of it for me.

If they were supposed to be shipped with that patch and weren't I can't imagine you incurring any cost (let alone time & effort involved) to get it resolved.

stinky Yep, I asked for the standard 15 oz Zimbs, but I'm sure they'll do it for any of the Zimbs since I think they are all supposed to come with the veg tan patch. @david They said I will be fully compensated whichever direction I decide to go.

I knew it said "Veg Tan Patch" when I ordered. Grrrr.
It drives me nuts that they likely retroactively edited the campaign text, presumably after they realized the sew shop put the wrong patches on.
Why can't they be up front about this and send a blast email out to every single customer who bought them so they actually get what they paid for?

I'm guessing it's because not everyone cares, but no, that's not a good reason either. I'm gonna do a quick measure and try on before shipping them out, to make sure all I want is for the patch to be replaced.

Even if that was the case they should have made a note of the error to backers and on the page regarding the edit.

I don't care about the patch at all . . . mine was removed, but it would have stayed there if it were veg tan, because it looks cool. It's the idea that the product doesn't match the description, so the solution is to change the description and be quiet about it unless someone questions it . . . if that is what happened, it's not a great way to do business. I'm actually thinking about putting a blank veg tan on there.

I got permission from Ren to post this:
Yes, we actually found that our production facility did not use the correct patches. So sorry about that. We have a couple options for you.
1) You can take your jeans to a local tailor and have them install a patch that I can send to you. You can just take a picture of your receipt to send to me for reimbursement. I can either issue you a store credit or a refund to your card for the cost of the repair. If you have a local tailor you trust, this is a good option because it doesn't involve shipping the jeans back and forth.
2) You can ship the jeans back to me and I will have the correct patch sewn on for you and send it back your way as soon as I can. All you have to do is print this email and include it with the product (please also write the address you would like your jeans shipped back to). Ship it back to us at
6 Mint Plaza Unit 402 San Francisco, CA 94103
Once we receive it, I will contact you and let you know. It is usually about a 2 week turn around to get these jeans put back on the production line and back in our hands to ship to you. Hopefully this timing works. In this shipping scenario, I'm happy to pay for your return shipping, just take a picture of the receipt and send it my way. (We prefer USPS priority padded flat rate envelopes that are around $6).

Oh, yeah, I do this for all brands unless there is something special about it like it being a nice, beefy veg tan patch. The brown ones are kinda 'meh' and I think they've gotten more vinyl-like as time has passed, so i just usually take them off when I get them. It's not a disrespect thing by any means, it's just what I do.
If you want me to be a billboard for your brand, you need to supply a nice sign to do it with.
Having said that, if someone asks me about my jeans, I always tell them what the brand is and where they can go to get them.

Oh wow. That's pretty cool. I honestly expected them so say "the listing never said it would have veg tan. Tough shit" Interestingly i felt compelled to put mine on today. They fit really nicely. I need to decide if I want to go through the trouble. As for those $6 padded envelopes, my local post office claims no post office stocks those things and they are special order. When I sent my LD back they gave me a $6 prepaid ship label but my post office had me use a flat rate box for $13. I really don't care. Just sayin. Thanks for the info!

It takes 60 seconds to do, and is much less dangerous than you think it is. I started doing this with those stupid brown paperish tags, and I guess i got carried away.

I asked them to send me the veg tan patch. Sending the jeans back is not really an option for me.
The veg tan patch is much, much nicer than the regular brown one. I think they should make it their standard.

stinky Yep, I asked for the standard 15 oz Zimbs, but I'm sure they'll do it for any of the Zimbs since I think they are all supposed to come with the veg tan patch. @david They said I will be fully compensated whichever direction I decide to go. Even the ZimLites? I'm pretty sure those were listed with the standard brown patch from the get-go, but maybe I wasn't paying close attention to the details on that campaign.

I only asked for the Momma Zimbs. You will have to shoot Gustin an email regarding Baby Zimbs. Nah, was just wondering if you had info on them already. Even if offered, I don't think I'd want the chunky veg tan patch on the ZimLites. That fabric has a great many virtues, but looking good with a phat patch is not among them. This reminds me that I need to find some time to snap a few pics and rhapsodize about the ZimLites. I've been remiss! Sneak preview: they are my best-fitting pair since the NIxP, and I love 'em. I hadn't planned to wear them hardly at all until spring, but I've had them on the last couple days because my corner of Florida decided it was just kidding about that whole "winter" thing and has given us a little throwback to mid-autumn: temps in the mid-to-upper 70s and high humidity.
