Step 1, look at a calendar and determine a time that you can both be off of work AND court houses will be open. Create a casual reason to both have the day offf. Talking to florists or cake tasting should do it. Step 2, buy a large bottle of Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Port (yeah yeah), Armagnac or Bookers. Preferably something she likes. Step 3, hopefully you see where I'm going here. Apply Step 2 to Step 1 and get married at the courthouse. Chock full of win. I've done one of each, paying more than the court fees to get married is stupid. If only most women thought that way. One of my friend's daughters had a high school graduation party that costed close to $10k, because "she only graduates from high school once." I feel bad for the guy who'll have to foot the bill for her wedding.

I shall join the similar 1 year no spending with you DigDug . Got engaged two weeks ago and my fiance and me need to come up a good 20-30k to pay for the wedding she wants. At least I have two years to save but means I need to thin the herd of all my hobbies. Already started with my a couple of watches/guns/shoes. Hoping to sell some knives as well as make some money off my GSW tickets. I think most expensive non-hobby I partake in is eating out. I love to eat food. Wish me luck lol cause I need to make sure I put away at least 20% a month for my cause. Lots of oatmeal breakfast and turkey/chicken dinners in my future. Just move back home and saving will be easy

But the lady would like the church wedding and all that goes with it. I have a budget and we are sticking to it at close as possible. In addition, we are making sure we pay it off or cover most of it so that the gifts/money from wedding presents can actually be used.

Now with only my income plus my father's retirement, we are both scraping by. If we live outside of the bay area, I would be in a better position. That's my whole reason for a change in profession/further education.

I have the urge to buy something but there's nothing I really want. I'm kinda done buying denim, at least I feel that way, and would like more tops.

7 MONTHS! (Ok so I bought a shirt with some TS credit and a sport jacket for $20. But those were planned before I started). What have I learned ...... Nothing! I dont spend a lot on entertainment (movies, music, electronics). So buying clothes was my entertainment. I guess by slowing my roll I've come to appreciate that Fit is King, impulse buying gets you stuff you don't wear much (you don't study the fit guide, discription as well as you should), and it's good to get wear on your stuff. What I'll be buying in 5 months. A Good pair of Leather sneakers and maybe a lite denim shirt. Other then that nothing comes to mind.

You need a color rush Gronk jersey.

New Years will start a bit of a buying freeze (On clothing, specifically) for me, too. Re-prioritizing based on future plans and goals. Since I've been in England, I've already slowed my spending on clothes I would say by 80% a month... Now that we've enacted our plan for her to move here from Japan (She's quitting her job, breaking her lease, and selling the car.... Visa is already applied for as well)I've got bigger and better things on the horizon (Marriage proposal), and I want to make it special. We've talked many times about marriage, and a big wedding just isn't in either of our plans, but I do want to have a spectacular proposal, get her a *NICE* ring, and a beautiful honeymoon trip. All of this will be paid upfront, rather than saving for it; the money is already there... The slowed spending will be to replenish what's spent.

Seriously though...nice job bud. You are an inspiration to us all! I hope to do this very soon, as I have about everything I need for a while. I just need one royal blue suit, then I'm done.

This time of year starts my annual "no spend on myself until Christmas" - but I'm already 3 days behind on this. I actually am going to try and extend it beyond the holidays. I'm sitting on some credit with Soso that may end up being used for another pair of jeans I don't need, but aside from that, I'm comfortable with trying to limit my spending.
I didn't want to commit to this, especially with some of those sneak peaks from TS (like the herringbone Mechanics shirt) that were teased in the product surveys. They are bound to drop as soon as I commit to a no spend.
Congrats DigDug.

I should really be content for quite a while... Just got confirmation that my household (Reads as "wardrobe, with very few other things") will be delivered to my apartment Friday. After living out of 2 suitcases for the past 2 months, getting in the equivalent of 2 closets full of clothing will be like hitting the lottery!

In my defense, I actually own zero buffalo check. I felt like I was failing as a denimhead/lumberjack-wannabe. I assumed it was a part of the requirements to post on here.

I ordered the IHSH-130 grey/black ombre via RB. I figured that even with my legal bills I should have money coming back to me. I found a low bono lawyer and paid him a $1000 retainer and whatever he doesn't bill to me will be refunded. It should only take him an hour at best to review the documents from my exes' attorney. I'm hoping I get at least $500 back.

despite my crappy experiences with my ex, I think the way we've dealt with parenting & finances has gone remarkably well. It took 2.5 yrs of emotional hardship but the split has been amicable. things are better now that we've separated our finances and i'm not shouldering half of the mortgage or car payments. I loathe my ex but if i'm honest, she's a good mother to our son. that's all I can really hope for.

Now that I have my IH, I too am probably on a bit of a pause for clothing. I have a couple of G things pending, but I think my clothing needs are pretty well set for now. About 5 years ago, I was introduced to the world of US made clothing and have turned over most of the clothing I owned in that 5 year span. Much of the turnover was due to different fashions and fits (it amazes me how baggy cuts for shirts and pants used to be, even 5-6 years ago compared to today), and finally figuring out that, since I live in MN, I probably need winter clothes and summer clothes. For the most part, the new stuff I've bought has been US made. This has been helped by the fact that, compared to 5-6 years ago, I am able to afford more expensive, better made clothing. I don't think I'll ever be a denim collector, not because I think it's dumb, just because I don't collect anything. I like a house lean and mean. I have 3 pairs of denim. One old Tellason that's my yardwork pair, Gustin Oky's which are my "everyday" pair, and my 20 oz. Ciano's, which will be a winter "everyday" pair. I'm good on stuff for work too. I anticipate needing to replace some New Balances in the next year or so and maybe some underwear, but that might be it. The only exception is if I decide to bike more in the fall and spring months. I'd need to get a few things for that.
Of course, I said similar things in this forum December 2015, so who knows.

So it's officially over? That's it. You wait until everyone is distracted by the election and drop this bomb hoping it will get buried by the other news? Man, so much for making America great again...
