Hey everyone,

i see that there are some concerns about our production times.
I know..we are behind……I am so sorry and you can blame me……
I am here to to show you how we are going to fix the
problem and have solutions to each one of the problems we are
experiencing … I will do my best to make sure we do what we outline hear

I do not want another { you know the brand} upset..WHOOOO!!!

Mike and I are here to stay and GOD willing we will get thru all this.
God will put us on the right path as HE always does…

So here are the problems we are faced today..
And we may have more but this is a start to help show the issues
we have and with your help we can get this all solved…

[ you guys on the forum are like family so if you have any feed
back let us know. HAAAA. Mike gets his ass chewed out every
day from his wife and I do to from his wife [ and the “DRAGON LADY]
..so we are use to the ASS chewing on a daily basis….that is why
we love the TEXAS BUORBON..HAAAA]

THE ISSUES AT HAND.

1. our corrozo button supplier is late on his delivers ..we have been
waiting 2 months and can not get answers….this effects the duck canvas
orders.

SOLUTIONS

Mike is looking on ebay and etsy tring to find buttons that match
our color to fill the current orders.. we do have an option to get Italian
horn buttons an get them in as a sub…

2. Mt Veron..duck canvas supplier has been late on all the deliveries…
but a we are good to go on the order on hand…

SOLUTIONS

We can order from a third party but..the prices are triple and ..so if we have to we will.

3. CURENT ORDERS

We are a little backed logged.. because of our supplier issues and man power.

SOLUTIONS

We hired a person on the outside to help start cutting only.
For us. This will help us catch up with the BACK LOG.. [ I HOPE]..
I will get back to you on the time frame…
but it looks like all the June and July orders will be done by the end of the month Sept and begin Oct..this is a target..so do not hold me to it as of now… the Aug and Sept order will try to get on the 11-13 week turn...

4. BACK LOG ON ORDERS

Here are the issues we are running into that is/are slowing us down.

    A. CUSTOM MEASUREMENTS.. this is the big hold up for us…we have a
    lot of orders requesting us to change our specs to meet the customers need. We are okay with this     but…it is slowing us down. We offer FREE of charge if you need the waist, knee or opening     adjusted..but realistically..we have to do a new pattern…

    We cut each jean [ 1 each ] out by hand and and use the OLD SCHOOL patterns…

we do not use a mass markers like other brand..each jean is cut out 1 at a time….
If we just used our current pattern we would be a little better on the cutting time…

SOLUTIONS

going forward we will charge for any measurement change to our current specs…
the extra charge will help go towards hiring someone to help with this service….

5. CUSTOMIZATION

we do a lot of customization for free..and this is hurting our bottom line...

for example…the Vintage pennies..we offer this free but is take the same process as the hand hade buttons we charge 15USD.
It takes us 15 mins to 20mins for each jeans to apply the Vintage peenies..we have to drill the holes and hand set each rivet and cut out the 3/16 copper post..so we hand make each button.

SOLUTIONS

going forward we going to have to charge for this customizations.The money will go towards hiring more people to help us…

6.PRODUTCION TIME.

The current production time we have stated is 6-8 weeks. But realistically this is not a real time frame for us anymore…. Thanks to all our of great customers!!!!!!!!!!

we cut each order as it’s own unique order… one at a time..always
we do not cut and make like the other brands and make our
items in bulk..and we do not use all one color thread and one
spec with no customization…if we did this would save a lot of
time…..and we would be little everyone else…

SOLUTIONS

We are going to have to increase our production time to 10-12
week turn around time…
We are working out how to add more people to help us achieve
this goal.
BUT as we add more people we will hopefully reduce the time down….

7.PRODUCTON COST AND PROFIT

Mike and I believe we need to offer a great
product at a great price, but currently this is hurting us at a profit level to hire new people…

Every penny we make GOES right back into buying supplies,
upgrading our trims or getting the lastest greatest fabric that we
can offer all to all of you.

For example. We upgraded our current leather patch..it is twice the thickness and better leather…the cost is 5x more… :-(

SOULTIONS.

We need to increase our prices on our lower price items by 10-25% TO START….
to help make more of a profit to hire more people… we may have to go a little more
on other items… BUT FOR NOW..just a couple of items.

If you noticed we are sold out of the Texas Denim..Mike is going over to see
if we can increase our price on the Texas Denim from the Old Man…GOD help him…….!!!!!!!

We have to do this so we can get money in to get skilled people in to help
us make our current product….

We love doing stuff for free for people and given stuff a way..but this is hurting
us and has been…so we really need your help and understanding to get the
people we need to get our stuff out faster to all of you….at the same or better quality

CONCLUSION

HAAAA. The money we do make at the end of the month currently is
enough to buy us a nice bottle of Texas Burbon..HAAAA…

Mike and I do this because we love making stuff for you guys....
I am not in this to buy a Ferrari..HAAAA…THE 1984 FORD F150
does the job for me…and as long as we have enough money in
the bank to buy a bottle of Burbon..Mike and I are good to go…

But we know each and everyone of you support us from the
bottom of your heart..and want us to be successfully..we could
not have gotten where we are today without all of you…

So I already feel rich from all the support and the wealth will
come [ GOD willing ] when we get thru all of our issues with your
help and understanding..

So I will do my best to keep y’all informed more when we run
into to problems..so you get the a better picture of what we are
going thur.

We may have missed some issues and we will address them as we go along..

But we are not going anywhere and we are here to stay for a
while and becomes a unique resource for denim…for each and
everyone of you..

So Mike said “ call us and give us a good ASS chewing if we missed something”

Wow that was a mouthful.

Great to hear that you guys are being proactive. Many of the issues are a good thing overall as it means there is a demand for your product.
Raising prices for some custom options and nicer features such as thicker leather patch is Ok with me.
Pictures of the new patch would be cool!
Getting some new blood to help out sounds like a necessity also.

cianofarmer, all of your plans make perfect sense and were inevitable if you didn't want the backlog to grow. I have no problem with any of your increases, especially on the custom, as it's blindingly obvious that custom takes more time and effort and should be priced accordingly.

I'm sure all of the above will help, but I'm guessing it'll be at least a couple of months before we notice a difference, but that's understandable.

Good luck anyway, as you do make some cracking gear.

PS - I hope my 23oz's are heading for the post office very soon

I think something you and Mike need to think about is how big do you want to be? If you decide you want to increase to a five-person team, you can probably work out about how many pairs of jeans that team would be able to make in an 8-10 week period and when the orders hit that number you put a halt on orders until you get caught up. I know a kilt maker that ended up doing this. He didn't want to raise prices and hire someone to help and so the only other option for maintaining his standards was to occasionally halt orders. Seems not to bother anyone as he makes it very clear when orders will start to be taken again.

Whatever you and Mike decide, I'll support with orders. I love the items I have and love working with you guys. I know I've got a couple of one-off projects on your radar and really look forward to seeing how they develop.

seems to me it's the Custom stuff that's the big problem. You need to charge for your service/product. A fair Profit is needed.
I like that you offer and are willing to do the custom (jackets, sizes, buttons, thread, etc) but also have a standard cheaper products available.
supply of materials will need to be fixed.
These two problems seems to have been the biggest problems that others have had (LD).

As they say "these are good problems". For me waiting for something isn't a problem as long as I've been told how long and that deadline is met (or close) and if it can't I'm told about it beforehand and given a realistic date. This was the biggest issue I had with LD.

This is my question too. The pattern we established is going to work great for me. Will there be a custom charge everytime I order, or no since you already have the pattern on file?

Likewise--if someone does custom work--will be there a charge for every order, or just the first time for the custom pattern?

My guess is there will not be an extra charge if the pattern is already made. They ALWAYS cut pieces, it's not like they have pieces ready to go into sewing. What takes the longest for them is making NEW patterns.

once you have a custom pattern you are good to go..we will not charge you ever time...but if we have to change the pattern down the road..i would have to charge a little something to adjust the pattern but not the full price of 68USD....

we get charged by the hour from the "dragon lady" and Mike an I worked out on the low end it cost us 68-75USD for a new pattern from her...

when she adjust a pattern ..she is pretty quick...but we still pay by the hour.......

a good example is today...we have a customer who has a custom CHINO pattern on file only..but his new order is for the 5 pocket model.....he asked us to use his custom fit on file for the order...well it is not the same pattern..luckly "dragon lady" was here today to make another pattern..it was quick because we have the custom Chino file...to make the 5 pocket model...it cost us around 25USD based on her hourly rate....normally i would not ask the customer for money...but going forward i have to because it adds up.....see what i am getting at.

Mike said to make a TEXAS BURBON FUND to contribute too for situation like this....HAAAAAA...

between you and y'LL ..we need a fund to help him wash his damn jean he never washes.....always tring to get the best fades...redneck!!!...HAAAAAA.

haaa...yes they are on the way..you should have gotten a shipping notice....the tailor waistband was a nice touch on the 23oz....

yes...as per the jackets..alot of customers are requesting us to change the body length and sleeve length..we do have a standard....so with the "dragon lady's" hourly rate...as long as we do not have to adjust the the main specs we will not have to charge a $68USD custom pattern fee..

but we still have to make changes on the current pattern. [ mult- sleeve lengths for example]

so for example..we have to take the current pattern and make another paper pattern [$ cost ] for the sleeve to increase by 1 inch....so we are going to have to calculate the time and material cost that goes into making the the new sleeve length...

before i would say ..it's only a 10 minute thing to do..but honestly..it is not... when we have to do this 4-5 times since we cut each item out one at a time..... also a roll of pattern paper is 50USD.....with shipping....

you mentioned "UNICORN"

FUNNY STORY.. i know you love these!!!!

Mike's daughter came in the shop the other weekend...obviously a plant for Mike's wife to see if we are installing stripper poles in the shop...HAAAAA...

she brought her piggy bank in and handed it to me and ask me to make her a pair of jeans with Kelo the unicorns on them....and I am saying ..whatttt?

? to Mike..so he shows me a youtube vid.....so Mike and I got on the singer 114W and tired our best to make unicorns on the chain stitch embroidery machine....it was the worst!!!!! i wish we were drinking because the unicorns would have come out better

for all you aficionado..we use the 14oz pre-shrunk Cone denim

.......but at 6 years olds..she loved it...this is one of the reasons why y'll deliveries are late...sorry ...I can not say no to a Texas blue eyed 6 year old young LADY with her own money asking for a custom job from us..... [ we never took her money..dad put it all back ]

funny thing was,..the next day..she told mommy "daddy works really hard"...and it was not the answer Mike's wife wanted to hear...

HAAAAA..the striper pole is in the back of the shop behind a hidden door Mike and I built.... it is only open form 12AM - 3 AM.. Southern Baptist !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nope....only if you gain weight..alot..then we have to do a new pattern but we will not charge the the full $68USD..we will adjust the pattern as per " dragon lady's" hourly rate

we are honest Texan's..we are not here to over charge to get ahead....it may be a 5-10USD surcharge to correct your new pattern...BUT DO NOT HOLD ME TO IT.. but stay away from the Enchilada''s and beer!!!!!!

..Mike said just contribute to the " Mike's Texas Bourbon Fund....HAAAAAA

you are good to go.

nooooooo...if you have a pattern on file you are good to go..

we are going to increase the prices on the lower end items and the customizations going forward...

a 95USD jean will still be a 95USD jean,,,but the extra details will cost a little more...

Mike and i still have to get with our web guy to make all the changes...but that is the least of our worries...we have to get caught up first..

you will see the changes when you order the extra custom work going forward....

for example

if you want the tailor finish...it will cost you a little more...

the tailor finish we offer now take alot more time and material cost than the regular finish..

for example...the regular finish i just run the waistband thru the Singer 302..chain stitch

the tailor finish..we hand set it and single needle the whole process..it take about 1 hour to complete a tailor wasitband..and the regular waistaband we run it thru the singer 302...5 mins.... see what i am saying?.. now we offer both at the same price....

but at the same time we need your help to put us on a perspective on what you will pay for what they are over charging everyone.. and at the same time we are making enough to stay in business...

what a novel concept!!!!!

we sell to y'll direct wholesale.. that is why these stores are nervous about us....we can give you the same product..sometimes...at a wholesale price..and we guarantee each item for life.....no questions asked...the OLD SCHOOL AMERICAN MADE...

i am waiting for a pair to come back after 20 years and someone asks..please repair these for me...[ FREE OF CHARGE OF COURSE]

funny thing is I will probably try to offer them two new pair for the 20 year wash he wants repaired...just so i can have them...HAAA

we are tring to catch up..we hired someone to cut for us...the 6-8 week turn is not going to work for us anymore..so we are looking at a 11-13 week turn...and that is the goal we are and will achieve..."from hell to high water" as we say here in Texas...
