Props to Gustin/Cody for making it right. He said to keep the jeans and gave me a full credit to back something else. These will make some swanky garage/yard work jeans. Dealing with Cody is always a pleasure. Those pants never should have been shipped out. True. I'm happy to keep them along with the refund, but I'd still rather have a perfect pair instead. In either case, Cody did pretty much all he could.

Just recd a Peach Blue plaid from the grab bag, and I have some weird results: The patterns are matched well, but it was clearly not CUT to align, simply sewn in alignment. So the shirt fits like crap, which makes the pattern look wonkey. Oh and the chest is 2" x 2 too tight. You can see that to get it aligned they pulled things around, because a stripe that matches across the placket does not hit at the same point below the arm seams where I was measuring. You can see here the blue check above the tape is just below the arm seam on the left, and about 0.5" high caught up in the arm seam on the right: Note the pulling at the placket is from me stretching the shirt as wide as it would go for the sake of measuring. Even after that you can see it hit about 19.5 aka 39" which for a slim L should be 43.5". This seems so wrong I was wondering if you guys can tell if I'm measuring wrong? Edit: after seeing that pic blown up I rescind my statement that the placket matches. Looks like at the point I'm talking about it does indeed skew from there on.

It would look like you're constantly leaning to one side. That is weird on the chest size! Based on that tape measure it looks like they sent you a Slim S, not Slim L. Out of curiosity, are any of the other measurements off? Sleeve Length or Center Back Length? Is it in fact a Slim S? With everything cut from patterns, I'd be surprised if just one dimension was that far out. We're talking 4" just to get close to what is allowable tolerance based on the specs (+-0.5"). If they really did send the totally wrong shirt, Cody is pretty good to deal with from everyone's accounts.

Only the chest and waist were off, the shoulders and length were spot on. I will say it seems like the back is much more full cut than the front, giving the impression that I might have a large shirt with small front pieces caused by somebody grabbing from the wrong pile during construction.

Oh, and before I seem like I'm hating too much, I also recd a cone WS and zimb WS and they are both amazeballs. I'll post some pics later in the WS thread. Let's just say MiddleAge is going to like the fit on the M more than the L Slim ;-)

Holy cow. I just received the green twill shirt that I ordered like what, 4 months ago, and it's beyond ridiculous. The entire front pattern is tilted at about 5 degree angle. Not just on one side, but all the way across. I didn't even bother to look at what else may have been wrong with it, because it went right back into it's bag, ready to ship right back to them. New low. I just sent 4 shirts back to them for a refund, and as bad as those were, this one is a whole new level of bad.

We've seen plenty of these and it's an old story by now. Sadly.

Yeah already packed up. Honestly I was too mad to do a photoshoot. I couldn't get it back into it's plastic garbage bag-style 'mailer' fast enough. And yes, G has been emailed. From removing it from my mailbox to packing the thing back up to hitting send on that email all went down in under 10 minutes.

With the poor craftsmanship aside, how did you like the fabric? Its the green cousin to my Blue Rustic Twill which I love, and I was thinking I'd back the green rustic twill if they brought it back. If the craftsmanship wasn't so poor would it be a shirt you'd recommend?

No chance I'm backing any patterned G shirts in the near future. Instead I picked up three flawlessly constructed, tailored slim fit Banana Republic shirts on sale for less than $20 each.

He'd post them up, and then you'd start whining about people bashing Gustin all over. Nope, best to leave them out.

I'll continue to back G shirts and take that risk. G shirt fabrics are just simply....really effin cool. They are far more interesting than any other brand out there imo, excluding maybe IH but that's not really Apples to Apples. Most of the shirts by other brands are just not interesting fabrics to me and are dull, bland, and monotonous.

Yeah I'm staying in on the monster twill even after the shirt above. My experience has been higher weight equals more accurate fit. I agree that the fabric is too cool not to risk it. It's like funding startups - the moonshots make up for the burnouts.

I vowed not to back another patterned G shirt for a while after my Orange Fade Plaid sewed up a little wonky. And I do mean a little; it is perfectly wearable, unlike some of these latest horror shows. It would seem that this was a wise decision.
That said, I am quite fond of my Slate Blue Twill. Sewed up bang on spec, and the alignment is perfect. Because it's a solid. Wa-hey!
For realz, I'll still consider a G shirt if the right solid fabric comes along and tempts me. But there's no way I'd touch a pattern with a ten foot pole.

If GAP and Wrangler can make a $30-$60 shirt line-up, why can't a premium extra buttery custom SF made shirt be likewise aligned? Sizing issues are a problem everywhere, but the shirt thing I don't get. And since it's been brought to their attention, it's even harder to understand.
Why ruin a great fabric with a crap sewing job? Seems the patternless shirts are fine though, so maybe that's the best way to go. Also would be nice to see some sans buttoned collars.
