Can anyone explain the difference between the deck jacket br12030 and 12032? There's a $200 difference between the 2 models on rakuten but is go with the more expensive one if I knew why Buzz makes 2 versions of the N1 jacket, with one being a heavier version than the other.

Old26, there were 3 versions at one point. The cheap one, then the other two made from identical better (unwaxed) materials, but the dearest one had a nice worn-looking seawash finish. That one might have looked waxed, but it wasn't. I think Sugar Cane do a waxed one, and it'll be cheaper than BR.

I'm pulling the trigger. Rakuten suggested XL. I and a large slim in G. My chest p2p is 41.25-5 and the BR sight days I'm XL. I'm worried I might be swimming in it. I'm also 33 slim in G pants. I'm also afraid large might be too tight. Size guide says large is like 23.25 for chest. 5 inches enough extra room? Or move up and get 7 inches extra. Decisions... If it's too big I'll buy if from you.

So XL was too big. I don't think sizing down will work because the chest and shoulders are pretty good. The problem is the stomach area is way too big. Now I k ow the easy solution is to really enjoy the holidays so it fits better but then I would have a jacket that fits and pants that don't. Anyone know of a deck jacket like this (similar quality and price, made in USA or Japan preferable) but a little slimmer in the waist area?

I've been wearing the BR N-1 these last two days in 4C/40F (and less) with 30-40mph winds and it feels rock solid, just laughing it off. It makes a nice change from leather with a layer under it, just feeling so much warmer and softer. Whether it's BR, IH or PB, I'd recommend the N-1 to anyone who comes across cold weather.

N-1 is a great jacket. Been wearing mine too which is great as it gets little wear here in LA. I take it to places where it's cold, but luckily, it's been so here so it's got a bit of use. Only jacket I really like have storm cuffs on.

Yeah, I'm going to the German Alps on Saturday for a week and will take this as my non-hillwalking jacket. It'll be great for New Year's Eve, standing around in the open for hours in the freezing cold.
I'm also going to take my CF 23oz jeans, as they've stood up well to the cold and wind too. I wear them quite a lot, but they're still stiff. Maybe a week's solid use will make a dent in them at last.

Once I sell my n1 I'll order another. I love the jacket. I keep trying to convince myself that it fits.

Sounds Awesome - pics!!!
I got two nice down vests this last spring for cheap. A NOS "Gerry" made in the USA and a Patagonia down "sweater". One fits nicely under any jacket/outer shirt and the Gerry is a great heavier down vest. I've got 10x more cold weather gear than warm - makes no sense, but it's my preference so even though it gets used little, I love that stuff. Wishful thinking of a move to colder climes one day!

mkeview, why don't you put up some fit pics? Maybe it's better than you think. Sometimes we can be over-critical when looking in a mirror. Old26, did you say on another thread you had German heritage? Where from in Germany? We've been loads of times all over and just love it there. The Alpine towns and villages are the perfect image of what the Alps should be like, much more so than the French equivalents, IMHO. And the medieval town centres are unbelievably quaint, like out of a fairy tale.

Our last name is the equivalent of "Cooper" or cask-maker. Good ol' working class Germans who came to the US in the 1850's...

I wanted to get a N1 jacket to wear over a leather jacket (I thought I saw something similar somewhere posted) but now that I have my Leathers, I don't think that'd be possible!

@belopsky , I doubt if an N-1 over leather could ever work, as it would be so huge, bulky and stiff. Mind you, I've never understood why people would put a warm layer over leather, as you'd still have the cool leather closer to you. That's what IH make the 9526V for, as something to slip over leather for a little non-bulky extra weather protection. I've not worn it over leather, but I could and it would look damned good.

I suppose I could put a vest over the leather but then I'd have to ride my Harley (which I don't have anymore )

Or just not wear the leather under the N-1, which would be comfier, less bulky and no one would see it anyway

I'm very close to buying this XL deck jacket. If Diggy is selling, buy it. been wearing mine for over a week now and I'm in love with it. Just don't get much chance, but lately we've been in the 30's so it's my go-to.
