Well thanks man. Those pictures make me feel better. My thing is that the numbers point me towards the slim taper, so I bought them. But the pictures have the slim straights looking much better. Since my return is going to be slim straights, I think I'll be ok. Only question I have is are they tight sideways across the ass? They actually fit great on the ass. They are slim but straight in the thighs. I'll have to soak them in a month so they can be a tad more fitted though.

These stretch out in the waist area correct? Sorry for such the late reply. I have barely worn them, just a couple times. Those times I did wear them I had a belt. I believe the waist would stretch, yes. Thanks. I'll get back to you.

Hopefully they will stretch out. I place an order for 2 of the slim straights 14oz this past weekend. The finally shipped them out. I'm also hoping that they fit like the 511 slims that I usually wear. I dislike straight fit for the same reason why you dislike them. I'm intiating an exchange for the slim straights and see how those go. The ass is too tight on these and just a bit trim the whole way around. I'm not sure if they are off spec, but based on the online measurements they should fit like my G Slim Tapers..........but they dont. No swampass for me tyvm! My 14 Oz slim straight should be in by Friday. I'll see how they fit and will follow up with you.

my wabash kingman shirt came in last night. A little tight in the armpits but most likely fabric is still stiff and brand new. Will wear it a bit to see if it relaxes and becomes more comfortable. Looks good though. Hopefully after a few wears it will break in

I got these in today. The Slim Taper 2.0 13.5oz Brown x Indigo Selvage
Am wearing them now and some initial impressions:
They fit very much like G slim Taper Except in the top block my ass cheeks are being squeezed together. I was thinking 13.5 would feel a little thicker. The wash of the weft is not as dark as it seems. The effect of the weft is pleasantly muted. Construction seems top notch. For my tastes, I want to soak and probably rinse the starch out before wearing. Just like the Chinos, no need for me to hem these. They stack well uncuffed and 1 cuff is enough.
So I'm going to wear them around the house a bit and see how the ass loosens up. Thats really the only thing I don't like about them and almost has me wanting to try the slim straight of theirs but I've mostly moved away from straights because I don't like the boxy look but Bravestar straight might be not too wide.

They can definitely do longer inseam lengths but you have to ask. Turnaround took about 1 week and cost was $180ish if I recall. I don't own any 511's so can't really compare. I just know that they fit me well. Gotcha

Has anyone had any experience with Indonesian denim? I've been on the lookout for something a bit different and stumbled across a few brands that caught my eye; though Old Blue Co, in particular looked very interesting. I love it when brands are so meticulous with the small details with regards to materials and what not, and the pricing is at the very least competitive; just slightly worried about the quality of the construction. A few websites if any one is bothered: www.oldblue.co/shop.htmlwww.sage.gs/product-category/bottoms/folta.co/id/Any thoughts? I've been following a few brands on instagram. The quality looks great and some do offer shipping to the states. I'm just not 100% sure if I would even try to purchase a pair. Only reason why I'm hesitant is what if the jeans don't fit. How is the return policy and how much will is cost me to return them.

alright, nerds, I decided to take a chance and order some jeans from these guys. I'm getting the low tension pink ID 14oz slim fit jeans. the fabric is from Collect Mills and everything is sewn on vintage sewing machines. The only downside is that the inseam length is only 32", which sucks for you taller guys, but 32" is the exact inseam length I take on all my denim. They look great, 32 would be the perfect length for me, but as I learned the hard way (buying a pair of selvedge from Levi's and getting them hemmed to a 32 was a big mistake. Luckily their return policy is great and I was able to return them and get the 34 length as it was intended. Anyway back to the comment...) I would prefer a 34 length. So hopefully they are able to make it happen now. Also how long was the turn around and what was the price (if you don't mind me asking) also would you compare there slim jeans to how 511s fit?

Speaking of knees though, I find the Braveheart cuts a bit weird. Going for a 30-31" waist I'd be after a 7.5(15") knee but all of the options are 7" then a big jump up to 8 1/4" with the much too loose true straight... I'm going to order the slim straight, but debating if I should get my true size 36 or go down to a 34. Plus I'm planning on getting the 14oz selvedge Spector

Since I'm still new to raw and selvedge what size Oz would be great to start with? I'm pretty new to wearing selvedge jeans myself, but I'm glad that the first pair I went with was the Gustin Japan17oz. Since, if you've been reading about it for a bit, it is fun to go with a pair with a lot of the characteristics people go for and the breaking in process itself is quite novel. I did have a problem with the starchiness of that pair at first because I went with the skinny fit that is right for me all over except for my, apparently, large knees so it was almost painful to bend my legs to the extent I needed to ride my little scoot. But after a soak they were alright and It's been fun to watch them evolve into a very comfortable pair of jeans over three seasons. Only hanging them up now coming into the Southern Hemisphere summer (though still alright to wear, just not so great in my unventilated warehouse workplace over the last couple of weeks). That said, I recon the Cone 16.5oz wouldn't be a bad place to start. A nice looking denim with many of those classic characteristics and still reasonably comfortable out of the gate (based on my ironside jacket in that fabric). Cool, I've actually been looking at brave star denim and was thinking about getting some nudies and famous and naked, but decided to pass on those. I already have 4 pairs of Levi's 511 selvedge. Might get 2 pairs of APC and wait until brace star restocks the pairs I want.

Hey everyone, I ordered a pair of slim straights from Brave Star. They were tighter than I wanted, so I returned them and planned on getting the same ones in true straight. Problem is by the time I got the gift card (that is how they handle exchanges) they were sold out of true straights in my size. Now I have an $89 gift card. Anyone want to buy it for $75? I have emails to prove it is legit. Email me at nealmusic@yahoo.com. thanks! Email me: alphatectz@gmail.com

Hello everybody, Glad to have found the community as vintage clothes and workwear have been a passion of mine so it's cool to see how many other people love the same kind of stuff. I was refered to this site by some industry friends because my families business is making custom clothes, I have been focusing on custom jeans the last few years and have been preparing to open the doors to my downtown LA jeans factory to the public for custom jeans. My pops is a custom shirt maker and I was refered to this site because though it seems like everyone is making jeans now, shirt makers are increasingly hard to find but there are still people who are doing the shirts themselves. Relevant fun fact: when my dad was starting out in Portland to make money to go to school he worked as a sample maker for Pendleton making their flannels from 77-79... back when all there stuff was made in america lolol Welcome aboard. Any more info on the family business or website? We would like to know.

They will shrink after multiple machine washes. My N&F LHT's are a size 33, so about a 35" waist when I bought them new. Mine have shrunk 1" in the waist and now fit me perfectly. As Bentin pointed out, all denim will stretch out after repeated wear. When jeans are washed in a machine the agitation does cause shrinkage. I don't understand the science behind it but that's been my experience Stop washing them. Problem solved. My Samsung allows you to turn off the rotation, for the annual wash. Top of the line washer I see, I only had 1 soak (like warm water / hang dry).

Has anyone noticed that the 511 slims (selvedge ones) stretch out after a few wears. I had mine for about a month now. It still looks great, but I would like to shrink them a tad bit to have them fit the way they were when I first got them. (Good thing I brought 2 of the same pairs). Isn't this true of all denim? I've been buying sanforized about a half inch under my true waist and unsanforized a full inch under (post soak) to account for this. Admittingly, not Levis. Probably haven't owned Levis in 25-30 years. I tried going down a size (I wear a 36, but a 34 waist doesn't do Justice for me. I can't fit my damn calves into jeans.)

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by "Gustin" 😐 Is this sarcasm? If so, you are fitting in nicely here. If not, well, you're new here, so history lesson time. This forum actually was born from a forum that was once hosted by Gustin (www.weargustin.com). The gateway drug that brought a lot of us here and got us into the selvedge universe. It's a resource to check out for their periodic great drop, but generally for us to nit pick their inability to align a shirt, their boring denim choices, and uninspired decisions (like these beauties that inspired the aforementioned joke). Thanks for the history lesson. I went ahead and took a like at a few threads that you guys have on Gustin and I totally see what you mean.
