Whats the deal with Chippewa boots? They look pretty good but maybe a step under other american heritage brands? USA-made Chip's are great boots. I have three pairs here and am about to get another pair. I would not hesitate to recommend or buy them.

Never bought a pair, but they appear to be good. I saw the sand rough outs on sale, but not good enough on the price for me with taxes. I'd pull if my to the door price were under $150.

Taxes on boots too? Jeesh I just bought two pairs 8.5 and 9. $180 each free shipping no tax etc. Of course I am only keeping one. This looks to be my cheaper alternative to buying the Beckmans. $180 vibram sole, made in the USA, and apparently they are more a cordovan color than they state in the ad. Wish me luck!

Own 2 pair of Chippewa Service Boots. One pair in Crazy Horse is the most comfortable boots ive owned and that was instantly straight out of the box. Also have a pair in Black Trooper which are stiff and need alot of break in.
Overall i like Chips and wouldnt hesitate to own more.

Well see how it goes. Generally a E or EE sizing. The jcrew boot looks like the 1901M25 but with speed hooks. Well see

Anyone have experience with sizing on Chippewa vs red wing? I've got two rw pairs in 9.5 one plain toe, one moc. Do folks generally size up or down with Chippewa? I think I possibly could have gone with a 9 in rw, wear an 11 in sneakers, usually a 10 in dress shoes/boots.

I've been wanting a pair of the Chippewa Oxfords that LLBean has. Perhaps as my 'dressy' spring/summer shoe

Just ordered these: Most Chippewa boots are on sale for 20% off on Amazon right now. These were only $153 including 8.4% tax to Washington. Super stoked. By the way, I tried on a pair of their logger boots at Boot Barn today. I wear an 8.5 in these, 9.5 in New Balance, 9.5 in Danner, 8.5 Iron Rangers. Hope that helps some of you with sizing. Also, I usually ALWAYS wear a 2E, but the D width in their logger fit pretty well. The toe box has a lot more depth, so the sides don't crush the pinky toe like most D widths do.

Man I feel bad for clothing tax states.
Looking forward to these chippa's coming in.
I really don't have a winter "ice cutter" style boot. I wear my LL bean Boots and then timberlands but that's it.

I wear an 8.5D Indy but an 8EE with my Thorogood moc toes. I'm curious how the Chippewas fit since i've been eyeballing them for awhile now. Agreed though on clothing tax states. Luckily, MN has no clothing tax or food tax, but they tax the hell out of residents here on everything else.

The 8.5 and 9's will be in today. Hopefully one fits if not to Jcrew I go.
8.5EE wide iron rangers are a bit big in the toe for me but it's ok. The 8.5D alden Indy only fit with thin socks can't wear thick wool.

I live in Washington State, and normally, when I purchase something out of state, and there is no physical presence of said vendor in WA., then I don't pay taxes. Out of curiousity, I contacted the Tax revenue Dept here, and was told with my above example, that I am suppposed to get a form, and pay the State the appropriate tax.
When I replied that I, or anyone else I know, doesn't do that, she just stated we are supposed to. Is this how it works for the rest here?

How many residents know that they have to obtain a form, calculate how much tax they owe, and then cut the State a check. What happens if you don't?

She commented that they are working on trying to educate the public, with some public service announcements, but I've never seen any. I asked her how they would ever know that someone wasn't doing this, and she replied that if that vendor were to be audited, they could possibly trip you up. At that point, I figured it best to terminate my conversation with her, and wished her luck.

I don't understand how a state can put the burden of taxation on its citizens, or even believe that such a process would work. What a goofy system.

Anything you don't pay tax for online say Gustin would be a good example as they do not have a physical presence in RI. You are suppose to pay tax lol like cut a check to the state for what you bought. Say I buy a watch from a dealer online from Massachusetts they ship it to me and I don't pay tax. I am suppose to by statute declare that on my state income tax and they adjust my refund accordingly. I've never met anyone ever in any walks of life that has done that. Ever. From lawyers doctors CPA's none.

Kind of like if you get a driving ticket in another stated, that you don't take care of, your residence state won't let you renew your license.
