Or get rid of tax on clothing, food, medication all together but this isn't a politico forum.
Chippa's have arrived!
8.5D not even close to fitting my bulbous foot. Quickly placed back into box and I will be heading to Jcrew shortly for the return.
9D slightly tight at the ball of the foot, widest part of my foot duh, but still comfy with my woolrich thick socks. I would assume like other leather boots there will be some stretch.
Color is closer to a cordovan than a normal brown has a dark brown cherry hint especially visible at the toe. This is fine since it's what I was hoping for. But on the website they are more brown. Def some red tones near the toe especially.
Looks like the 9D will be a keeper. Ideal world I would think 8.5 E or EE would be perfect but these should do.
Keeps me from spending $300 on beckman's.
$180 ain't bad at all. Nice laces, good craftsmanship, only gripe is regarding the speed hooks. They aren't as beefy as the iron rangers or Alden's. Takes a little more time to get them wrapped up right.
Little more information.
Chippewa for Jcrew is basically the 1901M25. Same color from what I can tell. Only difference is the addition of speed hooks. Which I like much better.
Leather is good. It's not Alden but it's good.

gaseousclay I would go 9D if you are getting the Jcrew model. It's worth it I think it's better than the 1901M25 because of the speed hooks. Can't beat the jcrew sale price either!

Rhode Island does the same thing. Anything you don't pay tax for online say Gustin would be a good example as they do not have a physical presence in RI. You are suppose to pay tax lol like cut a check to the state for what you bought. Say I buy a watch from a dealer online from Massachusetts they ship it to me and I don't pay tax. I am suppose to by statute declare that on my state income tax and they adjust my refund accordingly. I've never met anyone ever in any walks of life that has done that. Ever. From lawyers doctors CPA's none. Interesting. I'm sure that at some point, the states will all get together, and figure out a way to collect tax on everything we buy. Kind of like if you get a driving ticket in another stated, that you don't take care of, your residence state won't let you renew your license. When you buy or sell anything on Ebay, online or anywhere else that doesn't charge tax on something you normally would in your state you are supposed to keep track and pay in as mentioned. Sales and Use tax. I had to pay in about $3500 a few years ago for my business for recording gear I had bought and sold on Ebay etc. Was audited. I figured like you who actually keeps track and pays that? I do things by the book for my business now. We are fairly lucky in Minnesota we have no tax on clothes or food. We are taxed plenty in other areas though.

Yep one of the reasons I don't buy high end timepieces in RI. I've saved $1400 probably by buying online from other states. 7% sales tax.

We have an 8.4% tax on everything except food, one of the highest gas taxes in the nation, and one of the highest sin taxes.

I'm there every day for work, so it's easy for me. I love my Chips, but I've noticed the laces in my brown ones isn't aren't holding up so well. I'll have to get some replacements eventually.

Speaking of taxes, here in socal we pay 9% tax on basically everything. In my specific city the sales tax is 10% and Gustin charges me 10% on purchases.
So back on topic, does anyone know which j. crew Chippewa looks more like the iron rangers in amber? I already own a pair so I wouldn't want to get something similar.

The Jcrew x chippewa boots that I got are basically the cordovan service boots but with speed hooks. Plus they are a round toe not a cap toe. I have the chippa's and iron rangers 8111 I can post side by side pictures later.

Old26, those boots are kick ass. I've been eyeing green/olive boots for a while....I already blew through most of my footwear budget for the year though. Oh and thanks for the props on the leatherwork

I just took delivery of a pair of Chips. I'd been looking to add a black cap toe, as a daily knock around pair. I considered RW (IR), and Wolverine (Rockford and Krause). Something about the IR just doesn't do for me, and I don't care for the overall look of the Rockford. I would've loved the Krause, but it seems like too much boot for what I was after. So, I nabbed the Homestead 1901 M31. I paid $174 shipped. For the price, I don't think you could go wrong.

Those look great. I like they have hooks for the top two. My Beckmans are a pain taking off and on without hooks. Have to loosen the laces way up.

I was thinking from your post that these retail for less than Red Wings etc but looks like they sell for about $269. You must have found yourself a bargain. I did see a like new used pair of size 10 went for $100 shipped.

Free shipping is always a bonus, too. I think I got one of the last remaining pairs, because they were removed from the site soon after.

Anybody got a pair of Chippewa engineer boots? I've been seriously considering getting a pair, but as there are no stockists in Australia I'll need to get them online. Got to get the sizing bang on first time.
I wear a UK/Aus 10, Euro 43/44, which I think is a US 10.5/11. The only pair of boots I have which width size is even an option I'm 1 size wider than the narrow option, i.e., standard, I think.. if that makes sense.
Any help would be great.

i'd like to know more about sizing on the Service Boot. It appears Brentkuz and I both have Hobbit feet so need wider sizing. Does Chippewa offer the Service Boot in E widths?

Is E wide? And EE double wide?
Making D regular?
Is that how it goes?

Is E wide? And EE double wide? Making D regular? Is that how it goes? technically, yes. a C is narrow, D is medium/standard and E is wide. I think it varies by company too. My Field N Forest/Thorogoods are labeled as an EE width but fit me perfectly. when I was trying on different sizes for the Thorogoods I didn't notice an E width, only the EE width, so it might've been specific to this brand. Based on my experience with dress shoes and boots I would need an E width since my left foot is shaped differently than my right.
