I've said before, I hate chest pockets and they look like shit when I have tried them on. Seems like all the heavier stuff I like ( chore coat, trucker, CPO) has pockets all over the front; are chest pockets de rigeur for any and all workwear inspired jackets? cedarview; in regards to workwear for fashion, yes...pretty much. In regards to workwear for actual workwear, no...not necessarily. The jacket that was most commonplace for work wear that was used in auto shops going back to my grandpas generation (both my father and grandfather were/are mechanics) was the Eisenhower jacket (or Ike jacket). m.dickies.com/mens-clothing/mens-outerwear/Lined-Eisenhower-Jacket-TJ15.jspThese were everywhere in my family and were very common for workwear jackets in my region...still are. I don't know of any big fashion names making an Ike jacket for fashion purposes but Dickies, Red Kap, etc...have been making them for years. I would remove the patches (name tags, company name, etc..) and wear them to school growing up. Ickes, I still have a black Dickies Mechanic Jacket that I've owned for about 25 years. I love that thing. It's a classic jacket and it cost me all of 25 bucks at Mervins (Mervyns?) in AZ. My friends and I all skated in Dickies pants and shorts too...stuff was indestructible and we thought it was the shit.

A Gustin version of the Eisenhower jacket would be cool (don't see it fitting in with LD, for that matter Gustin either) But if someone did a better version of it, I'd be in on one (with the arm sleeve pocket

@stevekas; yep, good ol Mervyns....I did plenty of back to school shopping there back in my elementary school days. Me and my friends wore Dickies pants and shorts back in the day too (I still do today) but I remember getting my Dickies at K-Momo and K Mart back in the day. Those were the only two places I knew of that sold Dickies.

I missed the boat on the herringbone and decided to back the grey a day or so after it dropped...just canceled my backing. I want to like it. I really really do. I thought I did like it. That bottom pocket on the right side is killing it for me though. The pockets are stacked on top of another (the pictures aren't very flattering for this upon closer inspection) and the size difference is a strange choice. Took me a while to realize all of this. It's not so much an issue of too many pockets or one pocket too many, it's the odd sizing and placement of them.

When we were all making suggestions, nothing was listened to. Too many pockets, different sizes, and especially the arm. Unsure about the fit, and I'll lay money that they won't get them out to people until next year. Hell, the last pair of chinos I purchased was early July, and they haven't shipped. I kind of though I'd be able to wear them by end of Summer. I really don't see myself buying much more of anything from Gustin.

Yeah, those herringbones are not really doing anything for me. I think $165 is overpriced for an 8oz. shirt. Depends. If the CPO design was more to my taste, I would have plunked down $165 for that first charcoal and black herringbone in a heartbeat. Because of where I live, it would be much more than a shirt; it would be a go-to outwear option throughout most of the "winter". That makes the price tag a lot more palatable, and I think that's how Gustin is intending/hoping their customers see this piece. If not, and you see it as a shirt that you wear once every week or two, then $165 is indeed excessive. Anyway, the new stuff. Yeah. The black herringbone lining material--one of the best things about the Gustin CPO--is going to look absolutely awful with these new wools, particularly the camel.

I love the herringbone cpo. It's a direct rip off of the engineered one but I'm ok with that. That's what fashion is. If the other one was priced accordingly then there would be no place for gustin to swoop in. Theres so much hating on the CPOs! I get a lot of guys like a more traditional look but I think a lot of the traditional looks are boring. I enjoy something with a little personality. That's what fashion is all about! Anyway. Just trying to be a little positive about the latest offerings Love vey reading the banter though. Carry on

I love my CPO. Heavy black wool two pockets anchor buttons.
The gustin on is super busy. Wish it was Harris tweed. 8oz tweed shirts with a lot of pockets for $165 that's rich.

So close to caving on the CPO with the new Pendleton wool today. Store credit gets me most of the way there, and I have plenty of denim so it's not like I need to hoard the credit for something else. Damn it.

Damn it. 14oz is nice but still not a true 20-22oz Melton wool CPO. Still has the pocket issues. $175 ain't cheap.

Damn it. 14oz is nice but still not a true 20-22oz Melton wool CPO. Still has the pocket issues. $175 ain't cheap. Agreed. If not for the fact that I'm sitting on $131 in store credit, I would not be as tempted. The weight is not as much of an issue for me because 14oz is a nice winter weight down here in the tropics. If anything, it might be a touch on the heavy side. An honest-to-god meaty Melton just wouldn't get out of my closet for more than a handful of the very coldest days in the dead of January. My opinion on the pockets varies with each picture of them that I see. I think they're just one of those things (or four of those things, wocka wocka!) that I'll have to see in person to really get a handle on.

ZOMBIE THREAD So, did anyone here get a Gustin CPO? I am really curious about how they turned out. I would venture to say no one has one due to the 50% extended waiting times we've been seeing. That is unless the people have received them but they are too caught up in pockets to post.

a few people have posted about the cpo over on g-comm...maybe 5 or 6. no photos. people seem generally pleased...saying pockets aren't as funky in person, fabrics are nice, and still trying to figure out sizing

Funny, I'd forgotten about the CPO. Not sure how that happened as I look at the G store periodically to see what's on offer.
Glad to hear the few reports have been positive. Hopefully we see some pics here eventually. I've got a surplus CPO so I have no skin in the game but a couple of the Gustin fabrics looked pretty cool.

I'm glad I passed on the Gustin Pendleton CPO. I don't care for the pockets, or snaps, and the wool requires some type of garment underneath because this wool is scratchy. Got the TS CPO, with a little more weight, and the Italian Melton wool is tightly woven, and smooth, and at substantial savings.

I just saw ickes reference to K-momo. AZ life ha ha. Memories. davelewis, nice purchase. I was tempted by that but held off as I'm trying to dial back the clothing budget (except for some new boots, soon).

Just grabbed a grey herringbone CPO off eBay for $110. Too hard to pass up. Nice price. I did look at that ebay listing and I was surprised on the lighter color of the Herringbone. I am wondering how does it fit.

quick question, but why is everyone selling theirs? There's one on grailed, and there were several being sold on the Gustin boards. When the grey herringbone came out it sold out fast. Now people are selling them. Is it fit?

I haven't looked for it, but I haven't even seen a pic of one in the wild.
