Bmw did make some nice cars but now they do nothing for me. I really don't consider anything that has came out of Europe a muscle car. Ever. I would say we are in the second coming of the performance age. The Feds are killing cars slowly but surely industry standards and regulation. Stinks my children will neve know what a real car felt like. I can not say Korea has ever made a good car either. When the Germans were make the E36 the japs were cranking out amazing performance cars hell they even had a gentleman's agreement in regards to power. Supra, RX-7, 300zx TT, Mits Vr-4's, GTR. Cranking out amazing cars. I've had 22 cars if I remember correctly. About 10 of those turbos attached, bunch of AWD, now I'm on a RWD V8 kick. Between the new z06, Shelby, gtr, hellcats it's a crazy time. I had the first two of the Japanese sport cars on your list there... and then I bought my grail Japanese sport car. I missed those boy racers day. I CAN STILL hear those blow off value. (Back to my no car talk hole)

What is your Japanese Grail car? When I was in my 20's, there was only one. (Hint: aluminum, mid-engine)

What year NSX? Coupe or targa? Always liked them, just preferred others, including the FD RX7, did you have one of those too? My dad still has his 93 RX7. It was a completely different car than my M Coupe, but in a straight line or on the track, the two were nearly dead even, even if they went about it completely differently.

I owned both at the same time and they were both 93. NSX was coupe/stock but my FD was mod. My FD blew the doors off my NSX. It went mid-11's 1/4 miles with slicks. 8mpg and blew the apex seals of ported engine 3 times in 2 years. Then my MKIV blew the doors off the FD3S. Then, I got marry and wife hates any cars not made in Europe. No Japanese car since. (back to my no car talk hole)

"It's not even mid-engine!"

Sucks letting go of cars. I sold my 2003 Evolution 8 when I bought my house in summer 2010. Had the car for a year and a half but felt it was best to move on. Almost got another one last year after selling my 2002 Camaro SS SLP but the Gf doesn't like boy racer cars and helped to talk me out of it.

AMG line, cts-v, Audi S line (I know duck about Audi as I've never liked them) depends on if you're looking for more sporty or more luxury but I'll throw the GTR in the mix. One doesn't buy a luxury sports car because it's reasonably priced. They're a passion play, and priced as such. I've never read a bad review of an m car, and you have to give BMW some credit for keeping the muscle car thing going while American manufacturers struggled with identity. If speed to money ratio is your concern, then your choices are wrx, gtr. Neither of which are particularly pretty. You can mix Porsche in there, but the gtr is going to be a better "value". Huh? There are so many things wrong with that statement, not sure where to begin. Not trying to be a weenie, but me thinks you don't know what a "muscle car" is.

We moved some car talk to this threadI admit I don't know some of the abbreviations you guys are talking about gtr, wrx etc. As far as muscle cars I am a Camaro, Firebird fan but love most all of them. I had a 1976 Trans Am 455 4 speed and then 1968 Camaro SS 327 Automatic in high school. Of course I wish I had both now. Some muscle car info as there could be members outside the USA that aren't aware of what they are. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscle_car

I will say looking at the new dodge hellcats Jesus they are insane. Not sure I would drop 63k+ on one but just from a power perspective that is impressive.

I've got a 335i. Not quite the M3, especially with the horses the newer ones carry with. I'm holding out for an e60 M5. Now that thing I would definitely consider German muscle, if the M3 doesn't fit the bill.

Now that thing I would definitely consider German muscle, if the M3 doesn't fit the bill. It makes power but is far from what a muscle car is. It's 4 doors, v10 with paddle shifters. The E60 makes good power but the engine/tranny might have nasa stamped on it. If you have issues be ready to pay out the eyeballs. Have you had any issues with the loss of power in the 335? My buddy had the first year they made them and had valve issues with carbon buildup due to the DI setup.

Speaking of trucks hope anyone in the north east has their 4wd ready. Not talking about their subby or awd car at 18-24 inches low clearance ain't gonna cut it. This is gonna suck.

No issues yet. I've got the N55 engine they switched to in 2011 as opposed to the N54 with all the issues you read about. I love the torque that hits at about 2.5K RPM and pretty much never goes away. Plus not turbo lag you get with some of the other forced inductions out there. Really fun car.
