I dunno bout you guys, but I could go for some leggings kale chips tousled pork belly and some 90’s tofu food truck chambray right about now. I'm famished. I've been doing that Echo Park master cleanse for a week, and it's really catching up with me. Plus, today I've been making my shabby chic raw denim narwhal (YOLO taxidermy!), and it's gotten me hungry. Earlier today I attended my first course in "Austin semiotics four dollar toast art party bicycle rights", which is way harder than I thought it would be. It wore me out, and I couldn't focus...ya know...on a count of the Echo Park master cleanse...so halfway through I put on my brunch wayfarers, slung my freegan crucifix tote bag over my shoulder, and headed down to my local mustache gastropub for a sustainable kitsch single-origin coffee and talked with my favorite skateboard VHS locavore, Schlitz Godard. Good ol' Schlitz. Always wearing his fanny pack Pitchfork leggings and crunching on his Biodiesel vinyl quinoa.............Pinterest.

I guess in the end, if they did it as a traditional line where you buy what they have in-stock, with no pre-funding, it wouldn't sting as much, but to continue in the same business after failing to deliver thousands of dollars of orders, well that takes moxy. To be in the industry and partner with the dude that did it, well that's a totally different thing. If the guy is telling the truth, I hope he heeds some advice and gets himself and his company name as far away from Roman Acevedo and company as possible. Here's the bottom line, though: I know I won't be buying anything from them simply based on the coincidental evidence that instead of being refuted is being seen as funny. It would be truly odd if r1885 had taken "hipster lorem ipsum" and then also seemingly managed to lift a picture of the kevlar jeans (with the top conveniently cut off) from when the LDANDCO.us site actually had product shown. If any money is coming from Roman Acevedo in this venture, then some portion of that is mine from the goods Lawless/LD&CO failed to deliver, and I consider this new venture just as guilty of the acts committed by LDANDCO. Especially if he was involved with Roman a month or more ago making this plan, because that means he's more than aware of the "cut-and-run" strategy Lawless has employed, and believes that these hundreds of orders were all made by haters that don't deserve to have their order fulfilled. If he just showed up in San Diego and looked up Roman because of the Lawless thing, well, then I hope he heeds the advice given here and runs far far away with whatever he hasn't invested in this venture.

At least the Kevlar stuff is listed at $250, which is probably a high markup, but at least it isn't less than the cost to make the item. And I mean at least the website could not have the same cheesy dude on a bike pictures that LD had.

An anagram of Roman Acevedo is "overcome nada."

I agree with exophobe. Every dollar Roman Acevedo spends on this new company and this new guy (if he ever actually gets paid), is a dollar that should have gone towards making good all his commitments, promises and "trust-me"s from his LD fiasco. And his previous denim failure too, from what Yelp tells us. He's just kicking all his creditors in the teeth now. And then in a few months it'll all start again...

Isn't that somehow fraud or something illegal? Can't chalk that up to incompetence. And that would make the Reservoir 1885 potentially a party to it. I'm in San Diego. Should I check anything out?

I'm thinking R1885 is simply tangled up in this LD web of lies. Doesn't it look like R1885 will also be offering products other then just Denim. Things that Roman isn't affiliated with. I bet right about now R1885 is cutting ties with Roman, meaning no Ready to Wear items this Fall. Leaving Roman without a Store front. And R1885 is now looking for a new supplier of Workwear.

This should be reported to the business council or whoever operates this stuff in USA. This guy is very brazen. If anyone has any contacts on the other denim boards etc, they should also be notified. This is just appalling.

I really hope he took the quick reaction to heart and has gone this route, or at least is working with a lawyer to re-write contracts so he doesn't get pulled into the sad mess that Roman has turned Lawless into. It seems like it may have been arranged as a sort of "looms for partnership" sort of project, and I really hope that he hasn't scammed yet another group of people into believing that those looms are running and creating fabric. He's already sold at least $1000 of product on that promise, and based on his disappearance, no closer to weaving a spool of denim than he was when he started selling it in March. Anyway, I'd much rather be wearing the clothes they promised me than hovering around conspiracy theories about why Lawless Denim, RA-Denim, LD&Co/LDANDCO.us has failed to deliver, dropped off the communications map, and appears to be changing names for a fourth time in less than a year (whether through business partnership or whatever). But I guess I'm just another one of those haters that can't see a good thing when it takes his money and runs.

I hate how this was published in 2012 and it is the exact premise that RA-Denim was founded on. Great at picking up trends, great at getting press for launching companies that support new trends. It seems like we're looking at at least 3 years of exactly the same line but completely different groups of haters. downtowndevil.com/2012/04/24/26993/yoga-clothing-cityscape/

I found the original website/blog where the photograph of the denim looms was taken! That Reservoir 1885 used on their website. It was taken when the guys from the 3sixteen denim company. Traveled to Okayama to visit Kuroki mills in June of 2014, where some of their denim is produced. Take a look at this link and this one also linkBesides the association with Roman or not. I would find it hard to trust jvmison based on this faux pas committed.

My advice to Reservoir 1885 would be to run a 50% off discount to get some orders rolling in. Schedule it for, say, early November.

They have such a strong industry pull from their month-old idea that they're able to jump the production line at Kuroki Mills and get denim made for them, so 3Sixteen, so incensed, allowed them to use their photos because the mill was simply too hard at work producing the fabric that they couldn't take a picture. Or they just stole it and lied about it. tolaurawithlove is now private, and I'm likely going to get banned from reservoir1885 on instagram here in a minute.

Does anyone know anybody at 3Sixteen or rawrdenim that can report that this company is using their images and claiming they are Kuroki Mills which has miraculously relocated to San Diego?
