New project from the singer of Dillinger Escape Plan and a guy who played live with NIN. I really like it: intelligent 80s electro-pop but also very contemporary sounding: This track is much more like NIN: The first song holy 80's. It's just missing a great hook in the chorus. I like the second song better. Definitely a departure for him from Dillinger.

One of my favorite bands Low hailing from Duluth Minnesota. They have a new album out on Sub Pop that is getting rave reviews. Haven't been able to check it out yet. Here are a few songs going back to the earlier albums. The best place to start. Al the guitar player and co-singer was in a band with friends of mine before Low. Their music has been labeled slow core and is very unique as the first 5 albums had no song above the tempo of these. Saw them many times live and people would bring a pillow and a blanket and sit on the floor to listen to them. Robert Plant covered 2 of Low's songs on his Band of Joy album.
Some of this video for the song Words was filmed on Lake Superior in -25F weather. One of my favorites.
Love this video Shame filmed around Minneapolis.
Another beautiful song Over the Ocean with cool effect in the video.

damn, I feel old. I saw Fugazi at First Ave in Mpls during the In On The Kill Taker release - $5 tickets. Good times. Sunny Day Real Estate went down the sh*tter after Jeremy Enigk left the band and became a Born Again. I stopped listening to them after their second album Haha I saw them during that tour also. And yes, you are correct about Sunny Day haha. The third album has some solid tracks...well...I thought they were when it was released but it's probably been that same length of time since I actually listened to it lol.

Been listening to this today... Love the Traveling Wilburys. How can I not, they have a Beatle in the band. I'm not familiar with the newer Tom Petty album. Will have to check it out. I loved Damn the Torpedoes and Full Moon Fever. Classics.

Tom Petty's albums have been consistently good for many years. I have them all. Spent some time listening to Jason Isbell and also Drive by truckers this weekend.
Isbell solo song, Outfit - "don't call what you're wearing an outfit"

And just chatted with my pal David Arnoff - his book of photos is finally out. I'm sure some of you cats here know of his work. Looking forward to getting my hands on this. He's coming out to LA in December, so I'm opting to have him sign a couple... tinyurl.com/oa6omns@winterland

Just learned of Snooks Eaglin from a Smithsonian collection of the classic sounds of New Orleans. Seems like a good musician.

I am very excited to be able to go see my 2nd Beatle! Anyone who knows me knows The Beatles were the best there was and they were because they really were. Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band are playing at the State Theatre in Minneapolis Friday. I am very blessed to have tickets and will be bringing my 9 year old boy. He loves Ringo and The Beatles. He saw Paul McCartney last year so yes he is musically spoiled forever, in a good way.
The All-Starr band started in 1989 and is ever changing. It is always a great line up of amazing musicians who I have listed below. The set list will consist of Beatles, Ringo solo songs and also songs from the other musicians previous and present bands. Check out these players and a cool performance by Ringo of his song It Don't Come Easy. I would say the band in the video is cool too. From the Concert For Bangladesh. Ringo, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, Leon Russel, Jim Keltner etc.
All-Starr Band 2015 Ringo Starr – drums, keyboards, percussion, vocals Steve Lukather (Toto) – vocals, guitar Gregg Rolie (Santana and Journey) – organ, keyboards, vocals Todd Rundgren (Nazz, Utopia and The New Cars) – guitar, harmonica, bass, percussion, keyboards (only shows featuring "Love Is the Answer"), vocals Richard Page (musician) (Mr. Mister) – bass, acoustic guitar, vocals Warren Ham (Bloodrock , Kansas, and AD) – vocals, saxophone, harmonica, flute, percussion, keyboards Gregg Bissonette – drums, percussion, vocals

For those who have any thoughts that Ringo wasn't a good drummer, check out what these other musicians have to say about Ringo. From Ringo's 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

So goood!! Actually saw 'em play in '64 at Melbourne, Oz. An uncle took my younger brother & I. He was 8, me 11...yeah, All Starr Band 2015 - what a line-up!!! Should be an amazing concert for you guys.

@winterland,
We go every year he's here - usually at the Greek. He's had some amazing members show up - Rick Derringer, Edgar Winter, etc. Always a great night, and we take our son too.
As for that Ringo vid about his drumming, I've watched that like 20 times. I sent it to friends, etc. because I too got so sick of hearing how "Ringo wasn't a great drummer". Hogwash.

I think it's because he's not flashy. A solid R&R drummer though. Seeing the movie whiplash got me thinking about Buddy Rich. Used to see him on tv regularly. Here's a solo in his later years.

Such a great song and played at Farm Aid following after the great tradition of American farmers coming together, organizing, and rising up for populist revolution rejecting the excesses and fraud of industry. Populists brought us freedom for workers and small business people and will now take back our food supply, economy, and (hopefully) nation. 'Merica!

Would love to be able to listen to Dylan. Love the lyrics, love the instruments, just need someone else to sing it. Tom Petty covering Dylan would be incredible.
