Does anyone listen to XM/Sirius? Is there a good channel? I had been listening to XMU, but they suck now. There's a band called Ass Glanimal, excuse me, Glass Animal that they're trying to force upon us every hour. They're some sort of awful old person soft rock, think even more stoned Morcheeba. They also throw in Jamie XX, who makes music to fall asleep to and drive off the road to. Dick. XMU is supposed to play new music, but sneaks in a Strokes song every other hour or so. The Strokes are not new, good or relevant. Stop. TL/DR, my little Shitbox car doesn't have a USB or Bluetooth, so I try to listen to the free satellite radio that the prior owner still pays for. I listened to OMD this morning just to avoid the awful crap XMU was playing. Please tell me there's a channel I've just missed. I did, but dumped it 18 months ago for Spotify premium. Never looked back. Sure, XM/Sirius has other stuff, but really, I didn't like it after a while...

Yeah, I've got Spotify Premium too, and 48k songs in the cloud and my home computer, but I hate to buy a new car just to be able to hear them. But it's looking more and more necessary.

It sounds like you're trying to justify buying a new car rather than solve your music issue. Have you tried any of those short range fm transmitters?

It's been a little while, but the last time I did there was too much interference. We have a Tejano or Evangelical channel on every possible tuning stop. I think I can run an Aux in on my head unit though through the input for a CD changer.

I have been anti mp3 from the start but I have been using my wife's Ipod Nano when mowing the lawn. No better time to listen to some music. So now she purchased a bigger new one for herself and gave me hers. I really haven't used Itunes much except to convert audio files to MP3 at the studio. So I have been learning Itunes and and how to get music onto the Ipod. What file type, bit rate, error correction on or off etc. I have become obsessed now with this little gadget just so I can mow the lawn and jam out. Actually I have another use for it. We love to go camping and don't get much for radio so I bring my boom box and cds to play. We usually don't have electricity either so I go through batteries. The boom box has an Ipod insert spot so I can put in the Ipod and not have to have the batteries sucked down spinning a cd around. Don't have to lug around cds either. Now I have spent the last evenings downloading all the cds I think I might want to hear. It is never ending. Of course I have to have my Beatles to Led Zeppelin and everything in between. All my Bob Marley cds are too scratched to download. Crap. I think I need to realize I now have way more music than I have ever taken with camping and be happy with it No separate songs either, only full albums.

I'm also an album listener, some things just have to be in order. My wife worked in a record store and I had a family member in a band, so we have 45k or so songs. Sadly we both use Spotify more than our own music now.
On another note, Nick Cave's son's death has me listening to tons of his old music, he's really got some great stuff. Terrible loss though, thoughts to his family, especially the surviving twin.

I was listening to The Birthday Party all day like the day before that happened and it just gutted me when I heard.

My favorite part of 20,000 Days on Earth was seeing Nick Cave eating pizza and watching the tube with his twins. Just seeing him enjoy the most normal part of a day was really cool. Just crushing to imagine that loss.

Check out Tracey Pew's moves. Good lord. Hahaha... I will have to give The Birthday Party, Nick Cave another try. For some reason I was never able to get into them. I do have appreciation for them though. Now post punk bands like Joy Division, Husker Du, The Replacements etc. I love. I think I just needed more melody. A little Joy Division.

Love Joy Division and Husker Du as well.

Joy Division aren't the most uplifting at times but it is really great for when you're in that kind of mood. I really like the whole Closer album which this song is from.

Joy Division remasters are awesome. The original recordings sound like they were pumped out of the deep end of a pool.

WOAH, crazy. I hadn't heard that! I remember listening to Generic Flipper in 8th grade home econ class on my bright yellow Sony Walkman. Haha. And The Jesus Lizard in 95 was one of the best live shows I've ever seen. This is rad!
