Those look fantastic. A lot more blue than I thought they were. Except for that last one, the pics are definitely a little blue-skewed because of the low-angle light coming in through the windows when I shot them this morning. The swatch on the CF site is the most accurate representation of the color. At least it is on my display, anyway.

Just to let people know, Ciano will put the pockets where ever you like, if you provide him some measurments. I have only ordered the chinos so far, but when I go for a 5 pocket design, I will probably give him measurments off my Gustin jeans, as they seem to work well.

The jeans have arrived. Ciano's the man! Sorry, they're a bit blurry..not the greatest by any means..I will get better ones after a week or two of wear.. The construction is great, denim is nice. No complaints. Custom fit off the 'regular' chart (need room for my big thighs ) Will do a cold soak this weekend maybe, see how much they shrink in length and see how the fabric settles down. It's a bit bunched up..Going to go drink some beers and 'break them in' in a bit.

would you guys say their fit guide is fairly spot on? Their regular fit measurements are huge so it looks like the slim fit would be the way to go. The Italian aqua looks interesting. are their jeans sanforized or unsaforized?

The Italian aqua looks interesting. are their jeans sanforized or unsaforized? The fit guide is the same for chinos, and jeans, and the pair of chinos I have are spot on the fit guide. Everything I've seen has been sanforized, but am hoping he might delve into the unsanforized denim some day.

Got my first pair of CF jeans yesterday. This will be a short initial review. Wifebert is out of town at a conference all week, so I am solo parenting for a bit and time is short. I'll post a more detailed review once I've worn the jeans around for a couple days and taken some pics in daylight. Okay as promised in the, as it turned out, not-so-short initial review, here are some further thoughts on the Ciano Farmer herringboners in their 905 Regular fit. Some of the details on these really are pretty damn awesome. Nice patch; appears to be veg tan and hand-stamped. Taped seams and chainstitch runoff on the cuff. Not a huge fan of the runoff, but it's another distinctive detail that helps set CF apart from other designers. Lord, I love the penny closures on the fly. Especially on this color and style of denim. I quite like the two different colors of stitching around the fly, and the logo stitched onto the coin pocket is pretty dope as well. Yet another distinctive detail, and even though it's branding I don't find it garish by any means. The rivets seem really well done. The tailored waistband and gusset and the hanger loops are so, so nice. I wish all my jeans had these features. Now for the one major issue I'm not wild about. This is what I was talking about with the pocket size. These are the pockets we were saying are too big?!? Um, okay. Those are my Gustin Zim18s for comparison (36 Straight). You can also see how much higher the back rise is on the CF pair, and how the pockets are placed lower and wider on the rear. If the pockets were bigger I don't think the wide placement would draw my eye as much as it does, but as it is I feel like it just exacerbates the undersized pockets and gives the butt slightly more of a dainty, feminine look like you see on ladies' jeans. Not sure what tools I'd be able to stash in there besides a small pair of pliers or something. Just stuffing a pair of deerskin gloves into one of those pockets was a little touch and go. The high rear rise takes a little getting used to if you're accustomed to the lower rise typical of most jeans these days (even many of the jeans with a regular/straight/relaxed fit or whatever). I actually like it for yardwork and other household chores because there's no chance of the dreaded plumber's crack or the jeans otherwise sliding down my backside when I'm bending and kneeling and stuff. Especially if I pair them with a beastly belt from @stevekas's Voltron Collection. Boomface. Those pants are going NOWHERE. The belt loops on the CFs are bigger and beefier than those on my Gustins, and they can take a belt like this (1.75" of pretty stiff and chunky leather) without much trouble whereas I'd worry about the stress on the belt loop to the left of the fly in particular on some of my other jeans. Also, now that I've given these puppies a few wears, the fit across the top block has broken in to be a little more generous than pictured above. Seeing as how these are an Italian fabric and all, it didn't take much work; the denim is quite soft and had little to no starch to begin with. The waist hasn't changed much thanks to the tailored finish, but there's definitely a little more breathing room around the hips and upper thigh. So that's good. And I guess that's it. Looking forward to beating these up a bit and seeing how they wear in. That dusky blue color looks better with a little dust and scuffing-related patina on it. Mattbert please send them back and i will make the pockets bigger for you..i will remake them with the bigger pockets... email me at ciano@cianofarmer.com and i will get on it for you.. Cheers Ciano

Yeah, customer service from Ciano is great.
Btw, after I got my pair of Ciano jeans with all those details (tailor waist, coin pocket, coin buttons and so on), I just cannot go back to Gustin. My G jeans look so plain that look like Gaps jeans to me now.

@belopsky did you request a custom rise, or is that a standard rise based off one of their cuts?

I would be shocked if they aren't the same denim, stinky. (See also: this post.) When I first saw them I almost thought that it was #69 Italy Blue x Black from Gustin (the F&T pictures look closer to the jeans hanging in my closet than the Gustin pics, short of the selvedge ID). Closer look they obviously aren't, but these are a cool looking denim. Has anyone here done their crowd-funding (besides the kickstarter stuff)? Pretty sure the F&T Split Cobalt = Gustin #156 Italy Sea Blue = Ciano Farmer 11oz Italian Aqua. I want to say Lawless offered that fabric at one point as well.

Would like feedback from anyone who has a pair (of any of these three brands), though. I'm thinking the blue is NOT indigo based.
