Can't decide..... Oak Street Rough Out or Wolverine 1K Mile Whitepine Decisions, decisions..... Damn, they both look sweet. But I'll give my nod to the 1k Mile Whitepines. It just looks more unique and classier.

It just looks more unique and classier. Well, you picked the winner. I found a pair in my size (11, 1/2 size down), for $200. I found them on theclymb.com . 50% off. For how long, I don't know. They still have size 9 and 11 available. Shipping was $8. The only downside I could find online was shipping delays can occur. With the cold and snow, here in Milwaukee, I'll be wearing my Tackheads primarily, anyway. They are slated for a Jan. 20th arrival. I will be waiting.....impatiently.

They usually ship pretty quick, but I have seen people with shipping delays from them in the past. I've never had any trouble with them (several orders). It's not as fast as Amazon, but almost nothing is as fast as Amazon, and the prices tend to be better. Of those boots, though, I like the Wolverines better as well. The OSBs there have that weird thing going on where the toe transitions to the tongue, which would bother me, but likely wouldn't be an issue if you had your feet in them.

I will admit, I was leaning towards the 1Ks, already. But, the price tag was certainly the clincher. It's good to hear positive feedback about The Clymb. Having another site for comparison shopping definitely comes in handy.

WTF is with signing into that site (theclymb.com)? Sounds like I'm buying a home there just to look...

They're a "member" site something like Gilt, so you have to setup an account to look, so you'll want to use your "junk" email address if you wanna just go give a look. I haven't seen any evidence of them selling email addresses, but they do send pretty regular sale updates (at least a couple a week).

Yup..Gilt, Ruelala, Huckberry to name a few. Big fan of the products Huckberry wrangles up, but they use a slightly different model, and the shipping times are unreliable in my experience, but they do run through a lot of good boot options from time to time. Each time I've ordered from them I've ended up with an inconvenience credit for either the timing or the product availability. I'd love to hear that other people have better experiences with them, they always tell me I'm an exception.

They sell a lot of nice products, but I can never find something that I absolutely want. I still have $50 credit to spend there after buying the $50 credit for $30 on Ruelala, but haven't found anything I wanted to drop it on.

However, if the price is similar or within $100, I feel OSB is at least a class or more above the 1K in both construction and material (CXL). I had owned two pairs of regular 1K's and I also have two pairs of OSB Trench boots. I am no boots expert but when you hold them, you can "feel" the differences. I also get more compliements from strangers and friends of my OSB's than 1K's (including my #8 shell and Krause).

OSB definitely gives more bang for the buck. I had also given some consideration to the natural trench. Best of all, finding such a good deal on the 1K naturals leaves some room in the budget for the next pair I covet : OSB 8 Trench

Here was from yesterday when I took this from a H&M. My #8 with a pair of brown White's laces.

Woolrich just started making boots last year, I really like the Woodwrights I picked up, but I haven't heard anyone come back with feedback on the Yankee's that they picked up (I think a couple guys here ordered them). I would imagine the Niner is very similar to the Yankee, since they're both American made and potentially on the same last, but I couldn't confidently say anything about the Niner from the perspective of the Woodwright since they're made in China. The wool lining in the boots does seem to result in a warmer boot (they're warmer than all my other all leather shoes).

Thanks exophobe. I'm wondering if it would be a good winter outdoors walking in the snow, slush and ice boot. It seems to have a thick Vibram sole, warm wool lining and quite reasonably priced.

The sole construction is completely different from the woodwright, but mine have treated me fairly well on ice and snow. Honestly, even though they wear down quick, my Timberland Earthkeeper boots have had the most grippy sole of any of my boots, and the absolute best snow shoe I have is the Tretorn gore-tex Skymra Mid SL GTX. The earthkeepers have no gusseting, so they aren't that great once it starts getting to be a couple inches of snow or really slushy, where the Skymra's are rip-stop nylon, fully gussetted, waterproof, and gore-tex lined. They're my go-to when traveling cause they're light, resilient, and don't tend to spend too much time screaming "HEY I'M WEARING SNEAKERS".

But, I don't plan on dropping $1000 on a pair, anytime soon(most likely, never), and I'm not a fan of Alden's style (crazy, right ?). So, the OSB 8 is top of the heap for me, atm.

No, you're not crazy. I've been a bit of a pussy and not said that before, but everytime that subject comes up - here and elsewhere - I bite my tongue. Just never ever got even a tiny tickle in regards to those boots. Never. But that's good 'cause I've got tons of other things I do like. I feel a weight lifted...

I'm getting another pair of Rancourt booys made within the next few months. Little secret: they dye their own shells. That made me ask customer service if I can get a pair of boots made with undyed shell, and they told me yes. I'm thinking a 5 eyelet handsewn with full leather soles. (Pictured is the same style boot, mocked up in "caramel" shell.)
