Got off This Train early. Only bought a few watches that work for me. No more needed. Right now, I think it was a short ride for me. The SKX009 seems to be exactly what I needed. In this wacky world of jeans and shoes and jackets and whatnot with almost limitless options available just a click away, it is almost impossible to find that one of anything that leaves you filled with peace knowing that your search is over. I mean, I still look at other watches, but I know that I will only go home with this one. Or something. Whatever. Actually, I miss the old days (and I am not really that old) before the internet when the selection at the local mall was all you had. I made easier/faster/better decisions back then.

I saw this octopus on the dial of this watch and instantly went into withdrawals. I feel my life draining every second I don't own it. Not really, but it is my latest, "ooooh, look at that!" The Phoibos Wavemaster at around $230 It is made in China and distributed from the company. I think the hands and lumed hour dots are a little small, but that is OK. I shall sleep on it a few days and hopefully realize that this is silly. I have two automatic dive watches I really like already. The selvedge denim world was a slippery slope. The gateway clothing to other accessories. Really...sometimes I feel like Bleeding Gums Murphy with his Faberge egg addiction.

Helson Shark Diver 42mm Ihsh-162 How are you liking this? Kind of looking for a daily beater?

It's a bit bulky and heavy and not the most comfortable under a cuff, so because of those, it gets left behind more and more in place of my Chris Ward trident. I still like its looks and use it to pair with certain fits, and maybe with more robust wrists it would prove more comfortable--maybe a different strap would help too (the rubber monstrosity that comes with it, has to have other more comfortable alternatives). Never will get rid of it but think you could find alt robust and stylish solutions that also tick the ease of use box too.

I sweat alot and thought a bronze watch would patina kind of nicely. Problem is all the bronze watches are on the thick and chunky size

Bronze/brass is special and I think if you are diligent you can find a slimmer/more classic alt, but may be upping the dollar amount. Its been a while since I went down this hole but remember there is a shit ton of options.

Ventus may be an option, I own one that doesn't light my fire as much as the shark diver--and Ive got a crapy band which needs a pro to remove it--but may suit your fancy?

Panerai's are big and thick, especially the Radiomir case, but the short lugs actually wear relatively small. I wish the Jack Masons were bronze and not just sprayed on faux gold. I've debated grabbing a (non gold tone) one for when my watch is out for service. His office is a few miles from me, some of his new mechanicals almost look nice too.

You've hit on my only sticking point. Had they managed to accentuate it a bit more, I may have one, already. I'm fairly certain, I'll be willing to overlook it, at some point.

Is it worth it to upgrade to 3k In my opinion, no watch is worth more than $500 and that is pushing it. But we are all different and have different circumstances and thresholds of what is normal. Any high end watch has a low end equivalent without some of the bells and whistles or little finishing touches. I really do not care if they dress up a watch movement that I will never see, but that means something to some people. HOWEVER...if this is what you want and have $3G's to drop on a watch without batting an eye, then maybe get the one you want. (Story time) I wanted a Harley because I wanted to be cool. I got a steal on a Victory Vegas which was a way better bike (in my opinion) and cheaper and not as common. When I was going to spend six months in Afghanistan, I was in the weird civilian deployment training when at the end of one day I was in a parking lot of a grocery store and some dude rolled in on his harley. It had that rumble I like...a throaty voice that my victory could never make. I made some extra money during my six months in Afghan and one of the bases I passed through sold Harleys. If you order from them while in Afghanistan, you get a discount (around $1,200). ALthough I saved money with the victory and it was a better bike, it still didn't check the box for me and my life. So I bought another cruiser motorcycle to fulfill my harley dream. I then had two totally awesome motorcycles sitting in my garage which is silly. Now they are both in storage somewhere since 2013 when I moved to Japan. The point is, if you don't think any other watch is going to fill that need and you have the money, then I recommend you get what you want...even if I think $3K is silly for a watch. I also can't forget I used to have a $1,200 a month Japanese skill crane (UFO Catcher) addiction...for about two years. So...nobody should take my opinion seriously. Unless I am talking about how there was no Russian collusion. Glad they investigated that for over a year. THey could be out there finding Nicole Brown's real killers instead of just leaving it up to The Juice.

I think I'm at the point of no return. I'll buy the Omega at some point. Actually, I've dropped enough hints to the wife. Now let's see if I deserve it at some point (most likely not for a couple of years, maybe on our 30th)

I think I'm at the point of no return. If that's the case, I hope you get it, dude! in the meantime, I tend to push the seiko SKX009 (or SKX007 depending on your tastes) lately. It seems to be quite the darling of the watch world and can be found for around $175 and (I think) looks good with a $10 nato strap. But that's just my opinion, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan.
