Has the first batch of the Heavy Coffee shipped yet? I'm really interested in backing the current offering but was hoping to see a picture of it in the wild first. I believe this is the first offering of Heavy Coffees. IIRC, last time was just regular Coffee Chinos.

Awesome dev that's what I figured. Pretty sure there was another run of both heavy chinos in the fall. Haven't heard about them though

They released the #19 Heavy Coffee Chino the first go around, right after the #17 Heavy Slate and #18 Heavy Caramel were funded. The Heavy Coffee funded on 12/16. It currently has the same production status as the Japan Caramel Hbone: "Production status: 2/18: Chinos close to completion. We will begin shipping orders out 2/27 and continue shipping into the first week of March" If I get mine before the current campaign ends, I'll post pics - but smart money is on that not happening.

Yeah, longest "shortly" ever. Still waiting on the Heavy Caramels.

And I hope that's not some CS fluff.. I can't wait for Gustin to prove my 4 month timeline wrong. As for you guys, don't get worked up until you hit four months. Gustin can't give you a better answer, only a small credit for your trouble. Anything under four months is far from the norm for their chinos right now, just like when they launched them and they took four months. I think the new estimates have been pushed out, but for some reason Gustin won't just say "we don't know, we can't get a single reliable estimate out of the sew shop, these are taking four months right now, we apologize for the delay". I know I would have been happier had they said that rather than "end of week/next week" several times when I was waiting on chinos.

I love the fit of my chinos.
imo the jeans should fit more like the chinos.
perfect leg tightness, nice leg opening, and a real slim fit.

Hi everyone, I'm a new member and need your advice on the sizing of my chino. I've heard great things about the Japanese chino and would like to place an order for the olive chino that's currently offered right now, but I have a question about the sizing. I currently don't have any great fitting chino to base my measurements on, but I just measured my best-fitting wool suit trouser and it's 16 inches exact across the waist. It's a little bit snug though so I wouldn't mind the chino being slightly larger. The Gustin measurement chart states that for a tagged size of 32, the waist measurement is a 33. Do you guys think that I should go for a 32 slim or a 31 straight? Thanks!

If you like a straight fit, go with the 32 straight. I wouldn't down-size on the waist since the stretch doesn't seem to be forgiving with the chambray lining. Unless you have big feet, though, your shoes will likely be swallowed by a Gustin straight.

I noticed besides the waist the top block of the Gustin slims, at least with jeans, is a bit tighter than the measurements led on. Also remember the waist on the chinos will not stretch much and will not act like denim will. On my Tommy Hilfiger chinos I see about .5" stretch in the waist. I didn't look at the fit guide for those sizes but make sure you like the lower rise of the slims vs medium rise of the straights. And also the rest of the leg works for you. I like a slimmer cuff opening but I am also a size 36.

I don't have any Gustin Jean, though I wear APC New Standard in size 30 and they're also about 16" when measured across the waist. For the Japan olive chino, I will go with a 32 slim based on your recommendation. Thanks!

I would definitely go with 32 slim. I have the japan olive and american navy. The japan chinos are amazing and the slim fit is perfect for chinos.

I'll throw this out there for anyone buying Gustin for the first time and wondering about slimness/leg width:
If you wear a size 36, don't take advice from guys wearing a size 30. If you wear a size 30, don't take advice from guys wearing a size 36.
Regardless of most of our waist, thigh, and calve sizes, most of us have the size ankles/feet. So for example, my size 30 straight denim is what i would consider pretty a slim straight fit. If I were to get a 30 slim in denim, especially a higher weight, they would be leggings. Meanwhile, a guy with a 36 waist getting a straight fit is going to get a 18'5" leg opening, which is pretty damn big compared to 16" of the 30 straight.
In regards to the chino vs denim sizing. Down at the 30" waist area, the 30 straight denim fits almost identical to the 31" slim chino if they both come in at spec. Thought I throw that out there for anyone wondering.

I'm at a 33 in denim, 34 in chinos if people want to use that to determine the value of my input. I have Gustin Chino rules I posted elsewhere, but don't have time to look for right now.

Gustin straight fit in larger sizes have huge cuff openings. Comically so. Dunno if 35-36 waist qualifies as "larger", but all the jeans I've received from G since early last fall have had a 17-17.5" cuff opening, which is technically 1-1.5" below spec. They've been bang on that smaller number, though, every single time. I honestly believe G gave the shop instructions to make the cuff openings smaller, but for whatever reason have chosen not to make this change public or update the fit guide.

This is an excellent point, and it can even apply to two guys who wear the same waist size if they have different builds. For example, someone who wears the jeans straight out of the bag as a 36x36 is going to have a rather different impression of how wide the cuff opening is compared to someone who wears a 36x32 or 36x30 and has to send those same jeans out to have 4-6" hemmed off the bottom. What the latter experiences as a cuff measurement is going to be more like a calf measurement on the former. It's all about dat taper.

Case in point: a friend of mine takes a 32W in Gustin whereas I take a 33W... yet he has to buy G's Straight cut as he can't fit his calves in the 33W Slim cut, despite being generally smaller than I.
