I'm not going to back them but I wonder if it's an isolated incident

Duck canvas will experience color fading. There's a ton of information all over the internets about how to care for it to minimize the affect. Washing inside out in cold water and hang dry should help.

Bumping this. I really like the G chino construction and fabric. I have the desert duck, camel herringbone, heavy caramel. All very nice and unique.
Fit is a bit wonky.

I have the graphite and after some pretty heavy wearing I really like how the fabric has softened up. I have slims and they are a little too slim, but they are also definitely under spec or at least on the very low end from the crotch down. I will get more, probably in the straight fit. I'm hoping they have more heringbone fabrics. I think the union herringbone would make a really nice looking chino but for some reason I'm balking at $118.

Just received my first gustin chino, the #5 Navy American. They need a hem. Is there any consensus on washing first to account for shrinkage ? Or just hem them a bit long ... thanks They will shrink on you, but I'm afraid I stopped measuring things cause I'm happier that way, so I can't tell you exactly how much. You might be best off washing them first. Or do whatever the hell you want and own it, whatever happens. How much would they shrink by..? o.o I might have to change my order.

I will def be sticking to straight fits from now on as Gustin continues to come in under spec. Strange. Everything I have gotten from Gustin has been over spec, but it all has been from the stock store or grab bags, and I had to return it all. Their quality control is pretty terrible. 4 items I've gotten so far and they all came significantly overspec (and by significant, i mean an entire size or two bigger at some of or all of the measurements). Hell, even in my last email I sent to them, they admitted that an item I got from the stock store was a return that missed QC checks xD. At least they are willing to accept back the items though for full refunds, except there's a problem with not getting full refund on the latest. I'll update you guys to let you know if they handle it appropriately. So yeah, I'd caution everyone to stay away from the stock store. Aside from the stock store, I ordered the #2 Organic Indigo Selvedge Chambray. This is all pre-wash The color is a few shades darker, but otherwise it is nice. It has some neppiness to it, which I actually like although I'm not sure if it's supposed to... and hopefully it holds up to wear and wash. As for specs, it's .75 inches overspec on chest and waist, .175 underspec on length (so good enough imo), and the arms are about .375 inch overspec. I will update how much it shrinks.

I've had all of the chinos come in on the small side of specs which works perfectly for me. On the other hand all of my large slim shirts are way under spec... I'll pay close attention to the new ones I have coming in.

If you're familiar with your gustin jeans size, I suggest the following: if you plan on stretch in your jeans, know that the chino twill won't give as much, so adjust accordingly. I suggest either same size in the next cut up (so if you wear 33 slim in jeans get 33 straight), or size up 1-2 in the same cut (33 slim in jeans then go 34 or 35 slim). I don't know why they come in slimmer than their jeans counterparts, but they seem to. Also, if you need the chinos to stretch in the waist in order to fit, it's likely to put undue strain on the chambray lining which may cause the lining to tear.

I would be getting a 37 slim chino but they decided not to offer 37

I ordered a 34 slim chinos, and it was too small. But I don't believe I'm a 33 slim anymore though, so that means nothing, and will not be helpful in making decisions.

Isn't the waist too big then, or do you just get it tailored?

I might try to get a 38 slim maybe tailor the waist in. This is my eternal problem. The 36's are way too tight, and the 38's have to be brought in. My tailor charges 50 bucks for it because there are a lot of pieces to deal with. I'm 5'9" 195, 38 waist, inseam 29.5. I can wear the 38's without tailoring but they look a bit sloppy and need a belt. Like you, if they offered a 37 I'd be all over it.

Sucks I wish they did do a 37 since they would prob sew up like a 36 should but doesn't.

I need your help. I wear a size 36 straight in G jeans. Are the 36 straight chinos about the same fit?

I need your help. I wear a size 36 straight in G jeans. Are the 36 straight chinos about the same fit? More or less. I found the waist on the chino to be a touch tighter than the same sized denim. I've since dropped my G jeans size down one, but the chinos still fit good.

In my experience I wear size 35 slim in Gustin jeans. I went with the 34 slim in the chinos per gustins recommendation. The 34 slims fitted very differently so I went with a 35 slim in my last run. I can slip into a 34 slim, but you want chinos to be comfortable. The holidays are soon to be approaching.

Mine stayed the same. Chino material tend to stretch less than denim so take that into account.
I really like the cut and fit of mine but have come to the conclusion that button fly, especially the sewn buttons, for chinos are stupid. They are difficult to remove unlike jean buttons and unless Gustin sews them in with steel wire in the future, mine are all loose and needed some major reinforcement or risk dropping off. I can never use a urinal again when I wear these. All that finagling makes it look like I'm about to drop my trousers in the middle of the public restroom.
I'm never going to buy another without zip fly.
