jeffrx are you sure the thigh measurement is off by a couple of inches? that's a huge difference for a thigh measurement, especially if the other measurements are closer to spec for a 38...it's something you'd likely be able to notice just looking at the jeans (the thighs would look silly small compared to the top block and lower portion of the jeans). i think the current difference between largest and skinniest cuts might only be .5", and from the KS specs possibly 1.5" (there have been too many different size charts) Well, if I measure 2 inches below the crotch, it's 11.5 inches across - so that's 23 inches, maybe 23.5 in you go a little higher. The fit guide says, I believe, 25.5 inches. It does not look awkward or silly, it's just tight on me and outside of the guide. Right AT the crotch it's 25", but it's supposed to be 25.5" a couple of inches below the crotch. I'm not bashing LD and like I said, I'd try them again. I'm just telling you guys what I got. jeffrx wasn't my intent to imply you were bashing or hadn't calibrated your tape measure...just wanted to confirm since 2" seemed like such a large discrepancy

I'm hesitant to add fuel to this fire, but the first pair of LDs I got back in October were extremely small in the thigh. I ordered straight fit but they were much closer to slim straight, but didn't even line up to that size chart properly. So I don't really know what I got.
I have a pair waiting for me at home right now. I'll report back in a couple of hours if those sewed up according to the straight fit chart.

Just keep in mind that measuring flat and doubling will give you a different measurement from LD's guide because they suggest measuring around the thigh, which does make a bit of difference
e:wait I lie, I think that's just for the waist

Nobody gains when we whitewash, so post up what you get. OTOH, what we're trying to stop here is what most everyone sees as stoking flames. So we appreciate and want honest reviews. I'd hope vendors do as well.

I will give LD some chances to correct the problem, as long as they are listening to us here. Edit: Just checked with Sal and my order is still waiting to be shipped. Not going to receive it this week. I will do a review as soon as I get it.

Well USPS screwed me today. Been listed as "out for delivery" since 10am. It's 6:30pm now. Now way they are getting delivered this late. I'll blame it on the complete idiot protesters blocking the highway in Boston again today.

Yeah. Sanctimonious blow hards without jobs.
Btw USPS just delivered! Glad they are working harder than the lame protesters. I am headed out to my daughter's 5th grade concert. Review forthcoming. I haven't even opened the package yet.

Not liking the selvedge thing on the back pockets. Didn't really appeal to me either, but it's nice to have the option.

I am happy to report that everything is perfect with this pair. I don't have my tape measure handy, but everything feels spot on with the straight fit guide. I ordered true waist 36 x 34 length. The fit is very similar to a 35 straight Gustin. I have plenty of length to cuff. The denim and construction is exactly like the pair I posted before, so no real need to take more pictures. gustinfriends.proboards.com/post/7753

I haven't even opened the package yet. I feel you I'm down in RI and that's all we heard about all day. Wasted money an time over nothing. That being said I have spoken to Sal about delays, this is a service review not product. 11/2/14 order new site. Shirt and jeans. Should be shoppin last week of January. Sal was very quick to reply through the message feature on the LD website. Offering 50% off def hit them hard with a crap ton of orders.

Not liking the selvedge thing on the back pockets. I did change my mind and try to cancel the selvedge pocket, but the request didn't work out. I don't really dig it either, although it is a different twist and some people will probably like it. It's my bad for picking it in the first place. It seems like it would maybe be cool on women's jeans.

Jeffrx: what did a 38 measure based off their specs? Not sure if this has been mentioned later in the thread, but also, how are you measuring them? Gustin method? Circumference? It seems that if you have a size in Gustin, a general rule if you refuse to measure yourself (expressly opposite of what Lawless recommends) seems to be size up at least one from Gustin. I went two cause all the other measurements came in right. Still don't have my LD, so I can't say if that was the right strategy, but should know some time soon I think?

I wear 35 straight in Gustin. I measure 36.5 inches around my waist. I wear 36 straight in LD.

Shirt was delivered. Size was altered from Medium to Large, per my emailed request and it was tagged as a Large, so that's good. Here are the measured specs (all measured across, not around): Chest: 22 Body: 28 Sweep: 20.5 Arm: 35.5 Shoulder: 18 Collar (around the inside): 17 Fit appraisal: Arms are a little long for me, maybe by a half-inch, and they are a lot more form-fitting than I had anticipated -- not sure if that's a good or bad thing yet. I can't roll the sleeves too well right now, don't know if it'll loosen up a bit with wear, or this is the design. Not a deal-breaker, either of those. The chest is a little tight, but as evidenced by my gut, that's really my issue, not the shirt's. I'm digging the leather patch and the buttons. I think the navy thread was good choice too, blends well with the pattern of the material. It's wool, so it's a little itchy while I was wearing it, so I'm going to have to figure out the proper care for it, I don't want to just chuck it in the washer and have it get ruined. My dad, no slouch in the clothes department, was very impressed by how well the pattern was lined up; I am as well. It's my first western-styled shirt and I'm pleased. Pics (click to embiggen):

Nice to see a western shirt in a pattern fabric for a change. I was getting worried about Lawless. Getting some orders coming in that are correct and looking great improves my outlook. I think the sleeves are fine. Better a little long than short.

Variable, very nice shirt. It looks like a pretty good fit in the pic too but it's hard to tell! I bet after a wash those sleeves will settle!

Well, it's wool, so I'm not 100% certain that I should wash it. I'll probably rinse it in some cold water first, see if it's just starch. I think once the fabric relaxes, the fit will improve significantly.

Looks good - i'd be cautious on washing with warm/hot water. Probably hand wash cold and see how it goes.

variable that is the Pendleton San Juan 5 oz and I know some of Pendelton's wools are washable. I have a Pendleton Blackwatch wool shirt and it specifically says washable wool on the label. It might be worth a try to shoot Pendleton an email and ask if the San Juan 5 oz is washable, or how best to care for it. They probably will say dry clean, but one can hope they don't.

Not a bad idea. Certainly better than "wash 'n pray".

I have many wool shirts, and jackets, ie Pendleton, Woolrich, Filson, and never dry clean any of them. I don't like the idea of using solvents the dry cleaners use. I have had great luck with just handwashing them in a sink, tub, or even the washing maching on handwash cycle. The key is to use Woolite, and COLD water. Heat will shrink them, so cold only. Lay flat on a towel, and air dry. Some I've had for 40 years, and they are still like new.
