So I figured since Lawless products are starting to roll in it is time to start a review thread. Here we can post our reviews of Lawless products and customer service...the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I will start with the customer service I have received from Lawless to this point. In one word the CS at Lawless has been fantastic. I think there are a lot of us here who would agree with that, as many of us have been placing orders recently and have been dealing with Roman, Laura, Sal (DirtyDenim) and crew in the process. They have been very accommodating to say they least. They truly will do whatever it takes to make the customer happy thus far and they are truly concerned with the customer being happy with the product and the service.
The most recent example of this for me just happened today. I had a pair of jeans that was due to be delivered to me any day now and I new it was getting close. I ordered them in a size 32 but I have recently been gaining some weight and plus I didn't measure exactly right the first time around so I knew I would be hard pressed to get in to a Lawless 32 as they do not use vanity sizing, a 32 is a 32. So I hit up Sal on the Chat and asked if it was too late to change my pair to a 33....Sal did some investigating...got Roman involved in the chat....and long story short, my jeans were in shipping today but Roman pulled them from shipping and is taking care of my request. He is making sure I am getting the 33 that I want. He said ''there's no point in wearing a pair of jeans if they don't fit".
Now that's some customer service.

I echo Ickes CS comments. it's been exceptional from Roman and lately Laura. Not sure about this DD guy though All kidding aside, I can't wait to receive my 2 pairs to provide a product review! Ickes - you're not gaining weight - it's muscle you're gaining!

Ickes - you're not gaining weight - it's muscle you're gaining! Agree. I have now dealt with all 3 with shirt sizes going up and down, changing pocket design, and dealing with my fickle decision making in turns of color thread. Red! No white! No red again! I haven't heard no yet even though they may be cursing my name when they see my emails pop up. I will try to sit patient until my first order arrives.

Talked to Laura for a bit. Sent a few emails recently with nothing back yet. Roman did say they have a lot of emails to sort through.

I too have had excellent CS experience with Lawless. I go on the site and use the chat mainly and usually get Roman, Sal or Laura to answer my questions personally in seconds. I have also been a royal pain the butt changing things around until I got the best prospective size and fit. All this to say that this gives me real confidence in Lawless working with me. I don't think any product is perfect, and am sure there will be kinks in the LD merch, but I do feel that if I'm not happy with it, Roman and his team will make it right. It would be totally out of character for him to say 'Sorry, deal with it'. Not only has he changed round orders for me multiple times, but when I decided I didn't want a shirt after I'd paid he cancelled the order and refunded me immediately, 5 minutes after I sent the email. This was at 630 AM his time. Is this a guy who is trying to scam people or content to run a sub-par operation? I can't think where you'd get CS like that. So I'm very happy so far and enjoying the ride.

So I'm very happy so far and enjoying the ride. You only get customer service like that from a true scam artist. Keep in mind, guys, the reason this forum exists is cause we couldn't get along with normal denim folk, so to run into these conflicts when trying to let them in on something we're in front of, well, it's somewhat expected. That said, I put in an order the night the site launched, and it was in the 100s, someone put their order number up here earlier and it was 666, so there are obviously people getting in on this. Let the people that think it's a scam think so, they're the people missing out.

Talked to Laura. She says that Roman gave the go ahead to put the black handles on the black tote bag. I'm pretty stoked. I think it'll turn out great.

Hey fellas....I just went over to yelp, and posted a review, when i hit the post and sign up button...I went through everything they asked for to sign up...then went and did the confirmation e mail, but I don't see my review? do they hold it for awhile to review it, before putting it up? anyone with experience with yelp?

derek G; no experience with Yelp at all. It's useless to me quite honestly, but to others it'sthe first place they turn so that is a very nice gesture to post an honest, positive Lawless review. Good work Derek, I hope it gets posted

Good work Derek, I hope it gets posted Thanks Matt, I don't use yelp either. But seeing as everyone seems to reference the reviews, and I feel Lawless has gotten a raw deal there, figured I throw my 2 cents in over there. I put a lot of thought into the post, so hope they put it up. If not, I'll try it again. I just feel that Roman deserves it.

derek G it's great that you're putting up a positive review...not sure if there is an approval period before reviews get posted for public consumption or not. i've talked to a few business owners who hate yelp's unsavory practices which they equate to mild extortion. they want shop owners to pay to suppress bad reviews and to pay to promote (and possibly publish?) good reviews. makes it much less reliable than it could otherwise be. i don't think people actually seek yelp out looking for denim reviews, rather it just happens to be the first thing that pops up in a google search for lawless...which is unfortunate.

My freebie pair arrived today. These are the 14-oz Cone Mills Orange ID (aka Peach ID elsewhere). I like this denim a lot. It's nice and crispy but not unforgiving. Nothing particularly unusual about it besides the ID, which is cool, but you'll hear no complaints from me over a solid, no-frills material that looks and feels like quality in simplicity. (Photo from Ciano Farmer website, but it's the same stuff.)If I'm not mistaken, the hardware is the black copper option. Whatever it is, it looks terrific. The hand-punched rivets, shell(?) stitching along the inside edge of the fly, and the selvedge on the coin pocket are all nice little details. These also came with the double chain stitched hems, which I actually like more than I thought I would. The leather patch is pretty chunky and appears to be reasonably good material with only a little pullup. It's also secured only at the top and bottom, so you can thread a belt underneath it if you like that look. Double belt loops in the middle of the backside are, as mentioned by others, a welcome utilitarian feature. (I'll post some pics of all this tomorrow, by the way.) Overall, the construction seems to be very good. I have only a couple minor nitpicks. One, the spacing on the stitching along the edge of the front pockets is slightly different between the left and right. This will be easier to explain with photos, so for now I'll just say it's a trivial cosmetic thing and leave it at that. Two, a couple of the button holes on the fly are a little stingy and I had to wrestle the button through whereas the others were no trouble at all. Not a big deal, just a small annoyance until the denim breaks in and/or the button holes loosen up a bit. Bottom line is IMO these are a well-made pair of jeans with some interesting details, and they're easily worth the current Lawless sticker price of $79 (and then some). Based on my measurements (see below), I believe the cut is the Slim Straight fit. The only measurements I gave Roman were 36 waist and 35-ish inseam, and I said I thought the Straight Leg (known as Relaxed Straight at the time) or Slim Straight could work for me. Waist: 36 Front Rise: 10.75 Back Rise: 15 Thigh (2"): 24 - 24.5 Knee (15"): 17 Cuff: 16 Inseam: 35.5 Those numbers are real, real close to the specs for a Gustin 36 Slim, if you're scoring at home. All measurements are within a quarter inch of Lawless' fit guide for the Slim Straight. So that's great to see. Not as great for me is that I think the Straight Leg, and not this Slim Straight, is definitely the right fit for me. For what it's worth, Wifebert indicated that she was quite fond of my...ahem...contours in these, but I prefer a little more breathing room. And snug mid-weight denim is a little impractical as a male equivalent of lingerie. Therefore, I would like to take Roman's generosity and pay it forward by offering these jeans to anyone on the forum here who thinks the fit will suit you well. First come, first served. And if you're in the CONUS, I'll take care of the shipping so you get 'em free just like I did.

I prefer the slim straight cut, but my wife keeps insisting on a skinnier fit for the same "contour" appeal. Very generous of you to PIF these out.. you sure you don't want to see how they might grow on you?

Mattbert, great review! Props too for your subscription to freedom! That amazing stitch, clam shell stitch, is a gem, for sure, structurally & aesthetically. Showcases the capabilities of the old industrial Union Special sewing machines...sort of transport me to the past, the heritage etc. Lovely stuff.

Not sure of the correct terminology--I've seen it called a shell stitch, fan stitch, scallop stitch, etc.--but whatever it is, it looks bomber.

I am a 36 waist as well which comes along with thick thighs so no go on slim for me. I think the slim straight & above are going to be where it is at for most with the slim tapered settling into an actual skinny jean

Mattbert, you may well be correct; there may be several acceptable variants re the nomenclature of that particular stitch.
The guy who used to have one of the largest collections of Union Special machines and who also was the largest supplier of those machines back out to the industry has referred to 'em as "clam shell" stitching...so that's what I'm runnin' with/where I heard it...but, regardless, as you say, it's great!!

I've ordered a couple of pairs in the 35 straight, but have been a little concerned that the waist might be too tight. Also, I've been wanting to try out the slims, but haven't been able to work up the nerve.
