I sent mine right off to Railcar when I got them. They did a slight taper for me, post-soak. I will admit the cuff is probably at the slimmest as I would care to wear it, but collectively they look great. The upper block and thighs are right in line with what I prefer. I think I would try the slim fit (not slim taper) on my next pair (considering the RCS1).
The only knock I would have on these is that the back pockets are just slightly further apart than all my other denim. Not super problematic. Overall, I'm pumped to see how these fade. Trying to wear these and my PBJ's xx-0013 exclusively.

Ok so have to eat my words...after slighting the red cast i purchased the idt1s, and loving the fit so much had denimio proxy me a pair of the rct1s. They have arrived and fit is amazing as well, I know there is perhaps still a lot of distaste for this new brand, but each and every stitch looks just right (even though there are multiple colors). The denim is less irregular than the ID, but certainly still rough in texture and fun little neps. I'm thinking about trying their regular straight fit in the natural indigo, but the tapered fits so well I don't know. Also eyeing their wallets, but they seem a bit bulkier than what I am used to. (Also have only seen them at Godspeedstore in aus, and haven't yet inquired what a denimio proxy price would be, if it is available at all)

How do you like the red cast? Post some pics if you get an opportunity. I'm between those and IDS1's potentially. I have the NT1's and had Railcar adjust them. Looking at the specs that Blue Owl has posted, the taper may be a little too aggressive in the leg opening for my tastes. Glad you like them! I'm excited to see mine fade more.

They definitely have the slubbiness of my NT1's. I really like these. Nice grab!

matt, don't you have some PBJ? I'm torn between xx13's and RS1's. Fit looks very similar, with narrower thighs than the RT1, but either would need a Railcar lower leg taper. I just haven't seen fade pics of the Retros that look as neppy as the PBJ, so have been paying more attention to PBJ prices.

matt , don't you have some PBJ? I'm torn between xx13's and RS1's. Fit looks very similar, with narrower thighs than the RT1, but either would need a Railcar lower leg taper. I just haven't seen fade pics of the Retros that look as neppy as the PBJ, so have been paying more attention to PBJ prices. I have the xx11's (LHT) and the Tanuki NT1's. Aside from the 3 oz difference in weight, the NT1's obviously feel more substantial to the touch. Both are a loose weave with nep throughout. The Tanuki's have a rougher feel, as you can feel the uneven weave. I would equate them to the PBJ "knubbed" selvedge. I like them. Both of mine are showing great fade potential, with some fading developing around the hidden rivets, honeycombs and around the saddle/stitching. That said, the only think I don't particularly love about the Tanuki's (and it's not a deal breaker for me but could be so some) - back pocket placement. They are seated closer to the sides than the middle. I realized this after the fact, as BO doesn't show any pics of the rear unfolded. Not a bad thing since I don't have much of an ass. For example - I measured from the rear center seam to the back pocket and here's what I have: PBJ XX11 (size 32) Top: 1 7/8" Bottom: 3" Tanuki's NT1 (size 31) Top: 2 5/8" Bottom: 3 7/8" Overall, I'm really impressed by the quality of both (clearly), and pricing is really moot considering there isn't much of a significant difference there.

The IDT1 return went fine, after talking it over at denimo decided it was a stretch to go up to 34s, just too small in calves/thighs. So moved up to the NR1 - went with them over retro's, mostly for the natural indigo.

I got these NR1s, they are pretty dang cool. Didn't get as much shrink on hem as I hoped, but still a really great fabric.

Will get some when I can - try to get them in natural light too. Dark and lots of texture easiest way to describe them, and really loose weave (in my opinion) I didn't measure them before the soak - just tried on and decided how warm to soak...then dried them and went warmer. Might still give them a super hot wash and try to bring them down more.

Kirk. Those look great. I was thinking about the straight leg version bc the indigo shrimp review indicated a decent rise close to 12 on a 34-36. But the denimo site has the rise much shorter.

The description says ample room in the thigh for this cut...my ass. Seriously these things are skinny jeans and it looks like there's no way I'm squeezing in to any of these tanuki cuts. If they made some for adults I would probably try a pair, the fabric looks nice. Calling these a slim fit is far off the mark.

Some of the "Straight" fits that land on Denimio are a little friendlier, but tend to have pretty large cuffs. Given the two extremes in fit and the similar denim to Oni, it's hard to imagine they're not one of the primary parties behind Tanuki. Off topic, but I've been planning to try Tanuki or a mid weight Oni, but can't get this image of the Strike Gold / Self Edge collab out of my mind. Fit is actually just about ideal too.

So my tanuki's are the regular - man i want this tapered fit to work - but agree ickes, no way thats "ample room" based on blueowl the 36 thighs would be pushing it for the z-cut. Hard part on denimo is I really don't get their measurements...the tapered vs regular look so similar in the Ns
