www.blueowl.us/collections/vendors?q=Tanukii'm assuming some of you saw this new drop at BOW. I'm intrigued by this new company. They seem to hit all the denim sweet spots, namely, heavier weight denim, back pocket rivets, unsanforized, etc. Not sure about the price but it does come with a free backpack.

saw that earlier. the 16.5oz unsanf was looking pretty good until i saw the thigh measurement. with unsanforized, i'd need at least . kind of surprised at the price considering some solid competition at similar or lower price points.

Agreed on the price point.
It's like a Dos Equis commercial for me.
I have yet to spend that much on a pair of denim, but when I do, it will be a pair of PBJ's with purple weft.

Way too many unsanforized options from more established brands for $80-$100 less available from Denimio and Okayama Denim.

Cool stuff. More interested now. I assume this means Denimio will carry them?

Interesting you say that, because as I look at sample images, I can't help but think they look VERY "PBJ-esque"... I wonder if the PBJ folks are part of the team of denim masters?

Lol, obviously the true denim snobs will find a way to hate... I mean, if they didn't, they wouldn't be snobs. All we simply need is one of the denim cool guys to bless off on them, and then all will be fine.
Me personally, I hate the entitled attitude of demanding transparency.

from a business perspective it makes sense to want transparency -- I get that you want to know where your money is going if you're going to spend a buttload to stock your store. from a consumer perspective I find it perplexing that a lot of these guys would choose to hate a brand they none of us knows nothing about. I think the product should ultimately speak for itself. If Tanuki managed to line up collabs with Oni, OSB and the like then the people that run Tanuki must have connections. I'm personally unwilling to dismiss this brand until it plays out some more.

Unless Roman moved to Japan, I'm willing to give them a shot. First sign of a half off sale and I'm out.

Lmao! I hear ya, bentinWell, after having been to Kojima, my personal perception is that not just anybody is going to roll up in that city BUILT ON DENIM AND TEXTILE INDUSTRY making huge false or misleading statements to push a new brand... These obviously aren't some shlumps talking out of their asses, for lack of a better term. Just pictures of the fabric alone shows you that this is some serious denim, made by folks that know what they're doing. If they make a fit that accommodates my ample thighs and bum, I'm in on a pair.

I'm looking at the Retro 15oz, and it looks GREAT. $285 isn't terrible, not at all. Vanity sizing scares me though, especially since I don't know their measuring methods. Possible that I'll be the guy here willing to pull the trigger on these first. My Sugar Canes are progressing very well, and I'd like another pair of lightweights to join them. Not to mention, I've never gone the "unsanforized" route.
*Edit
Nevermind.... The "blue interior seam thread" totally kills them. I'm no fan of colorful threads in my denims

The artisans wish to remain unnamed because the product is meant to speak for itself. what is wrong with this concept? amusing that this burns people's ass. will see when they post some nice evo of what people say then. sure they will be a brand to make a real statement with the competition only time will tell.

The blue inseam seems weird, is it just a direct admission that Rampuya/Collect Mills is involved? Just weird since Japan Blue already uses exactly the same detail.

You've got to love the denim "elitists". They get so butt hurt when they are left out of the loop. Yet, they'll be the first ones gushing if these "masters" turn out to be legit. Tools.....

Measurements seem Off. Test pair - Pre soak waist is 33.5" with a rise of 10.4". I don't see that on the fit guide. Closest size is a 29" with a 33" waist and a 9.85 rise.
Come spring (Damn One Year No Spend!) I'll be buying a Grail pair. I'd rather these secret pairs the a pair of IH (not sure if I would like/want 21oz Heavys). But the sizing/fit has to be spot on! Maybe a pair of Roy's.?

On a size 29, fit guide has it having a 33 waist with a 9.75 rise. Test pair, pre soak - 33.5 waist , 10.4 rise Post soak - 32 waist , 10 rise Looks like these sewed up big in the rise Or the fit guide isn't to be trusted. For $300, I'd want spacific measurements on a pair. Rise seems small to me.

I guess they're just trying to give you a way to calculate shrink percentage. If anyone is in the market, I'd certainly ask for measurements, though.
