Jamesr - the 3sixteen + looks like its the same denim with japanese hardware as the only difference. Check blueowl workshop because they ship to Canada for free and do free hemming if you buy from them.
By the way, where do you live in Canada - I live in Toronto

Is the consensus with the type 3 to size up?

Their fit guide should help you with that. Their jackets do run small. They kinda of copied the japanese model. Alot of companies here did when they saw how much they could make.
Their quality is good but by no means as good as any of the japanese guys. I say, If you like the fabric go for it but dont expect as high of quality in construction. My shadow type 3 went back due to some major botch ups. Its normal with every company tho. One problem leads to others when they arent fixed.
Cool fades tho and that extra lenght is great for us taller guys.

I had the same expirience as chinaski. I loved the jacket out of the box. I even wrote about it here but deleted it because i didnt want to encourage anyone. The whole right side of the jacket had bunched up threads near the armpits. And the portions where the sewer backtracks over to lock stiches in didnt even run along the same line. Instead of double stiches there are crooked quadruple stitches. I expected more for $272. i contacted them as soon as i could cause they wont accept exchanges past 10 days and i cant lie, i really wanted to try another before they sold out. They didn't respond back so i sent another angrier more urgent email and they got back with me within minutes. The guy was snide and still hasnt sent me a return label. They dont do this. They dont offer free shipping either, Its all on you regardless of construction.
Also be warned, these guys dont like criticism. Anyhow, not my greatest experience.

I had no intention of buying their shadow selvedge jacket since I already own the jeans. I was mainly just curious about fit and construction. That would truly suck to spend that much money on something only to have it not turn out the way you'd like

Yeah. Im by no means rich. however ill buy nice things because i like quality. Theres a wallet im obsessed with. Its The Flat Heads Wild Chick wallet and its $500. If you look at the quality of it you'd actually find yourself considering buying it. Its really that NICE!
The japanese market commands that kind of money for their products. Seems to me, and this is only my opinion that these american business entrepreuneurs see what theyre making and think they can duplicate their model. However the product is inferior cause the sew shops dont share the same wisdom

Yup. I meant to write Wild Child but spell check per usual wrote something different. Anyhow, not to hijack the 3sixteen thread but that wallet is gorgeous! Thats quality! Thats why we pay extra. When the japanese botch a stich the item is handle off to someone and that stich is removed and redone. Here its more likely that its covered up and passed along. If the q.c. catches it shame on you but otherwise it saved you the extra work of redoing it.
Pride isnt what it used to be.

Anyone have the 3sixteen chambray workshirt? I got the limited run of one of their flannels this winter and love it. I'm trying to decide between it and a momotaro green tea dye chambray workshirt.

What's the consensus on the Kibata? Interested but wondering if I should hold out for the next xx-013 shipment. Thanks.

i got a pair of kibatas last week. ordered the st120xks from blueowl. they sent me measurements of all of the pairs of SL and STs in the sizes i was interested in. once i chose which pair i wanted they had them hemmed and shipped within a day. pretty great customer service. the pair fit really well out of the box, except for the loose waist. i was worried the thighs would be unwearable after a soak, so i started with a cool water 45 min soak with hand agitation. the fit came out pretty great and the texture came alive a bit after the soak (pretty tame before hitting water). i'm really interested in seeing how these evolve with wear.
