I don't have the western, but I have the regular Mackinaw, and it is a staple for me this time of year. They are awesome, and I really like the 24oz. Mackinaw wool. These guys carry Filson, and if you keep an eye out, they discount their gear. Outlandusa.com Thanks, I'm still kicking it around in my head, but $165 for a vest...

Don't know if they have what you're looking for but since Filson doesn't seem to be discounted much, 20% seems like a good deal. debating whether or not to buy the tin cloth short cruiser

Today was the last day for the backcountry.com 20% off offer and it looks like it no longer works on Filson product. I tried adding the short cruiser to my cart and it said the jacket didn't qualify for the discount. Sneaky bastards

size large/Seattle fit (i'm 5'11, 180 lbs, 34" waist, 40" chest) finally took delivery of my Filson tin cloth short cruiser the other day but only just got around to trying it on lastnite. Definitely a high quality jacket from Filson. Compared to my Gustin waxed trucker I would say they're very close. The Gustin trucker is slightly more fitted and sits higher on the waist. The Filson is also fitted but doesn't feel as tight, and it sits lower on the waist. Aesthetically speaking, they're essentially the same design with the exception of the pocket on the Filson. The Filson is also a darker shade of brown, whereas, the Gustin is lighter brown with hints of orange (depending on the light). The short cruiser does not have an interior pocket and the Gustin does, albeit a very small one that can fit a cell phone. I also got a free tin of Filson wax with my purchase, which i'm guessing is standard for their jackets. Either way, I got the short cruiser at a discount so i'm pleased with the product. Anyway, i'll have to do a more extensive review in the future. I want to wait til I get my Lawless cruiser so I can compare the 3 brands.

No doubt you are a fan of cruiser jackets. yeah, I definitely like waxed cruiser/trucker jackets. I'd like to do a more in-depth review comparing Gustin, Filson and Lawless when I have more time, especially with regards to fit, design & construction. My Gustin is relatively new but I noticed a loose thread on the yoke, among a few other things. it's a minor issue that doesn't effect the stability of the coat but one that I think is relevant if someone is undecided on a waxed trucker purchase. I also noticed a lot of guys have questions regarding fit, so being able to talk about these things would be helpful. Overall, I would say both the Gustin and Filson are well made jackets. I could easily point out several pros/cons to each, but again, i'd like to wait til I get my Lawless waxed cruiser before I do an extensive review.

Good fit on that jacket. I wore the hell out of mine last week on vacation in the rain in NC and loved it.

Interesting. I hope the sale is decent. I really want the cascade shirt but it'll be a cold day in hell before I pay $145 for it

www.filson.com/products/cascade-shirt.10530.htmlAnyone have a Cascase shirt? A local shop has both colour ways in my size for £100 but my initial impression felt like it wasn't as well build as the jacket and liner I also own (the shirt is from Portugal rather than their US factory) It's going to be used for work and traveling for the next few years alongside a TS RR, G WS and two LD WSs.

I don't own the cascade shirt but would like to. It was recommended to me to go down a size, even though this is in the Seattle fit. Can't comment on durability

Weirdly enough, I'll be sizing up if I do order it I have a Seattle fit Weekender that's very fitted in small, but the shoulders were hanging off in the medium I only tried on the Medium Cascade but it gave a nice looser work fit with shoulders that were just right

I finally took delivery of my Filson cascade shirt from Unionmade and it's very nice. I'm glad I went down a size to a medium because I would've been swimming in a large. Even at a size medium the length is a little longer than i'd like, but i'm hoping that a round through the washer/dryer will allow it to shrink. Overall, for $87 it's a quality garment.

I have it in green. My favorite jacket by far. I was at first somewhat bummed at the weight, but once I put it on, I realized it is way more useful as a middleweight. At least I think it's a middleweight.

They are owned by the same company. Bedrock Manufacturing, Dallas TX. I like the new short cruisers and the journeyman jacket.

Weird combo Filson and Shinola. Both american that's about it. Shinola is overpriced for a stock quartz movement right off the shelf.

I like the new short cruisers and the journeyman jacket. I'm not diggin the new short cruiser. One of the things that makes the old short cruiser cool is that it's a trucker style jacket. The newly added pockets make it look like every other coat from their line of coats. The only thing I do like is the $198 price tag and that they're offered in navy and olive. If they simply added more color options to the old cruiser it would've been more exciting to see

Saw a man in the grocery store today and could tell immediately he was wearing a mackinaw by the pockets. Everyone and they're brother makes a trucker. Filsons has to look different (like it or not). I'm glad they're offing more dry finishes. A jacket that can not be cleaned is worthless to me.
