Post up what you're listening to today, this week or just an all time favourite. Hopefully this'll be a good way to revive some classics and introduce some new favourites.
I'll kick things of with this - been listening to it all week after scoring an old tour t-shirt of theirs from... 1978!

I've been slipping in to a Dream Theater phase, lately.. Rudess and Portnoy are, in my opinion, two of the best musicians in their respective fields.. this isn't the best example of their musicality or even style, but this is what I'm listening to today (Dream Theater - Surrounded):
If you want to hear some wicked guitar/piano, listen to the end of Solitary Shell (4:20 to the end):

I saw DT in (I think) 1992/3 in a relatively small club in KC on the I&W tour. I haven't listened to anything by them other than that album, but I absolutely loved that mix of Rush/Queensryche/Metallica.
It was around that time that my music tastes took a turn into Alt Country after being exposed to Uncle Tupelo.

Here's my latest "can't get it out of my head" piece. Give it a couple runs before you decide.

I want to be Andrew Bird when I grow up. If for no other reason than I'd get to hang out and sing a duet with Annie Clark, who both fascinates and scares the piss out of me.

I see some Andrew Bird fans here. He records a lot in Minneapolis, not at our studio so far and also his drummer, guitarist and sometimes producer are acquaintances and from here. I need to check him out more. Am not a huge folk rock, if that is what you want to label his genre, guy. On the other hand I love acoustic Neil Young, Simon and Garfunkel, Nick Drake, Syd Barrett etc.

Great performance of Old Man on TV. There are other great songs he did from the show on Youtube also. The studio version from the 1972 Harvest album. I am glad Neil never had a beard most of the time. In reference to the beard bands/musician/hipster thing of recent. Nothing against beards though.

I was going through some videos of my Father-In-Law, Tony Terran. He was part of the Wrecking Crew and played on everything from I love Lucy to The Beatles to Herb Alpert. Guy was amazing - still around, but not playing much these days.
Good stuff on here. My son also sends me new things to check out and there's still good music, just need a bigger funnel to catch it all.

Alrighty, let's go from one extreme to another. Our friends across the pond are most likely familiar with this band, but maybe not so much here in the states... It's not for everyone, but I assure you, this band is no joke. Cardiacs

Devo is another band I love. I appreciate anything different or out of the mainstream.
