Haha. That's awesome. I always got SOME shrink in the waist. But not much. More than the minimal you get on sanforized. But not enough to go up 2 sizes. Up 1 and I think you're pretty safe. And yeah, you really do want them tight post soak because they'll definitely stretch some. Only thing keeping me from getting these at actual waist is the worry of sewing up small you have with Gustin. As everyone scrambles to their order page to update their size from +2 to +1... Regarding the waist and avoiding shrink, would it make sense to soak it up to but not including the waist? I know that the denim will soak up most of the water, but what if you kept that part as is? I'm merely overthinking this through. At some point they will get wet (need to be washed or caught in the rain). So I'd think a full soak is warranted. But you could do a half cold half hot soak (I did this on my Loomies). Put the the jeans half in and half laying out. Hot or cold soak as you deem fit.

Crap. Now I'm thinking straight fit not slim. My 33 slims aren't tight on my thighs but they have no loose fabric either. DigDug you can always send them to railcar and they can take the waist in ALOT. They rebuild the whole upper. I did with a pair of their jeans. 3 inches I think. Love the fit. Fwiw length should shrink pretty significantly I think. Stf did up to 2" sometimes. Maybe 34 straight? That's sized up 1" but I feel like the other G unsanforized shrank like a mofo according to reports.

beeranddenim thought of that but it's not worth the expense on a $79 pair of Cone. I just sized down. Hope they'll sew up on the big side and I'll get some stretch.

I'll probably need to get them hemmed as sizing up to 35 takes me to a 36" inseam. I don't really care about chain stitch anymore. I'll use my local tailor if need be. As you said. $79 jeans.

Catching up on things. Let me know if you guys need any assistance on this. Not sure if I will partake. I see they are at 90% so no time to waste. I saw you guys getting in trouble at Style Forum. I don't think that posting about this would qualify as spam. It's Gustin's thread. They would be happy about it I would think.
Didn't Gustin start a contest at one point? Wonder what happened with it.

Wonder what happened with it. #gustinfadecontest on Instagram. I didn't see an official announcement of the winner or anything, but they were saying the winner should be announced the first week of September. I didnt bother with it since it was less organized than this one already is, and was apparently only six months. Some dudes beat the heck out of them in six months though. Unfortunately there was no mention of which (16er or heavy American) on many of the photos.

Well, since sanforized can shrink 2% then at the waistsize I am at (35) 3% will give me 1" of shrink. So im sizing up 2 since my 35 is snug as hell after wash.
It all depends on how they sew up tho. Im thinking too big and I can scold and tumble and that will shrink them almost a full size, i took in my okas this way from "hey mr jockey" to really very nice fit.

I emailed them and they replied that these will be sewn up true to size, not 1 size small like the loomstates

Here's hoping we get some last-minute participants. It would be rad if we had a nice full contest.

I have this image in my head of a bunch of you guys walking around town like Kramer because your unsanforized denim shrank up more than you liked.

I'm gonna stick with the 35 now I'm just undecided on slim vs straight. May just roll the dice and say f!@k it if they don't fit. I found the lower rise slims actually felt better in the waist that my size smaller straights.
So I own 32 straights and 1 33 slim. Btw the Candiani GxB never stretched much. I might sadly part with those. 33" from the beginning would have been better.

The only reason I'm not going slim is that the shrink is likely to be mostly in length in my experience, and the rise on the slim is about as low as I like the rise to be. In your case I'd probably go 34 since you're typically a 32, but I don't know how much stretch you rely on.

Revised my order to 38 slim from 37 slim. Still considering going to 38 straight. I'm a little worried about the boys if it shrinks more than 1.5-2".

I just have too many other jeans that need my attention right now. Great idea here though and I will be following this.
