If these shrink to much at least I'll be able to buy a bigger size off the stock store.

How's this sound? Contest officially starts Dec 1st (but we can shrink and wear now). That'll give anyone enough time to receive a pair that was Backed or bought off the stock store. Also enough time for us or new entry's to buy, sell, swap, exchange, etc. We can start a new thread with our final contest pair that we're entering by posting a pic.

They've got them in stock. I've been thinking, I should get in, after all. Am I too late to join the festivities ? That's annoying to see the size I ordered in the stock store when they haven't shipped mine yet.

Mine are shipping out soon. It won't be easy putting these on when I have a new pair of Zimbabwe Loomstates just starting to break in.

I love their awful marketing copy.
Gustin jeans made from unsanforized raw selvedge denim from one of the finest Cone Mills in North Carolina.
As opposed to those awful hacks at Cone?

Eh, if the contest starts on Dec 1 and someone doesn't get their pair until the end of November and other people have been wearing them for weeks, how fair is that? I would say everyone posts arrival pictures as they come in, then a post-soak (if you choose to), then one the first day of the contest (or when everyone who wants to participate posts an arrival pic), everyone starts their wear-in.

it's a 52 week contest. If two weeks is a head start, Fine let's wait to wear (just a little annoying to have a pair of new jeans that you can't wear). Who ever wants in should have ordered them two months ago. My thought is to keep this as simple as possible. That way there's less rules and less management needed on this. Unless someone wants to draft up a bunch of rules, have an Attorney look at them, have us all sign with a Notary, and then some how enforce these, fine Or Get them Get them, Wear them, post pics one year from now.

If there is no guideline as to when it starts, that makes it all the more frustrating for anyone in the contest that is international, or local and at the end of whatever the method it is Gustin uses to determine shipping order. My latest update on the order says it should ship sometime maybe in the next week, while some people will be receiving them in the next couple days. As annoying as it may be for people that have a pair of new jeans they can't wear, it's far more frustrating to know the contest is underway when yours haven't even shipped to you. The initial idea was to start January 1 to ensure everyone had their pair. I don't mind moving this to December 1, but I don't think it's cool to have people start whenever they get them knowing others haven't received theirs.

That's fine, I don't really care (I've got 7 pairs in rotation anyway). Most likely mine won't fit after soaking and I'll have to order another pair. We just need someone/anyone to make the decision on a start time and some basic rules.

My thought is you guys start 01/01/16. It's cut and dry, easy date to remember, and you can all wake up hungover on New Years day and throw on your jeans.

Hi everybody! I don't plan on entering this contest, BUT I have Gustin credit and my stock store access only lasts until the end of the week or so. For those of you who do get your pairs, would it be acceptable for you to soak them and wear them just to see how they fit after they shrink? I'm really interested in trying out my first unsanforized pair, but it would be great to be certain of what size I should get before I buy off the stock store.
If that goes against the rules of the contest, I understand.
Thank you all!
EDIT: If anybody is normally a size 29 or 30 or so and can't fit, let me know! I can take the soaked jeans off your hands in exchange for some gustin credit to buy new ones. I would need the measurements in advance, of course.
Thanks!

Here's what I'm thinking;
-Contest starts 01/01/16 -Every participant must submit a pic of their brand new, unsoaked jeans on 01/01/16 with proof of the date. Maybe a pic of your cell phone sitting on your jeans showing the date, maybe put that days newspaper on your jeans showing the date, etc... -Every participant submits a pre soak fit pic on 01/01/16 and a post soak fit pic preferably on the same date but if it's a day or two later then that's fine too. -Every participant then submits monthly pics. These can be fit pics, pics of just the jeans, or both. Monthly pics must be submitted by the 7th of every month. -Final pics submitted on 12/31/16 -We post a poll and all non participants vote on the winner
Just throwing this out there for discussion guys. Thoughts???
If we wanted to be strict we could say all participants must keep the jeans in the bag until 01/01/16 and submit a pic of the jeans in the bag as well. This would ensure that no one is cheating.

I'll need to soak mine right away. I think I'll be needing to buy another pair depending on how these sew up and how much shrink. Not having a 39" put me between 38-40. if these sew up small and shrink to much, I'm out. Unless I can get another pair soon out of the stock store.

I would like to be able to soak them prior to Jan 1. Not sure my slim 38s will fit properly.

Yes offcourse we can soak and try, since its hit and miss with Gustin this must be acceptable! And it should be welcoming to try and get the right size since this is important for keeping people in the contest.
Just don't wear them if they do fit after soak, and if someone does wear them and lies about it then wow and hope you sleep good at night, but for the contest it wont matter at all so I see no problem other then we try and get along and be fair to eachother - this is after all for fun.

Just for fun im wondering how they would look if one does the complete opposite of wearing for a year and then wash...like wash every week or even twice a week for a year?

Just for fun im wondering how they would look if one does the complete opposite of wearing for a year and then wash...like wash every week or even twice a week for a year? You just gave my plan away. I've got plenty of dark jeans and pairs with the beginning of sick fades. so I thought I'd be a Wild and Crazy guy with these and wash them like I did back in the day. Try to get that very light washed out look.
