yinzer, nobody really says anything, but then if you look at some of the outfits I wear (kilt, tartan sport coats, etc) that isn't surprising. Right now the indigo is really dark and so the purple is only noticeable on the cuff. The weave is loose but at 14 oz they feel comfy in cool weather and warm weather.

I like the purple wefts but can't wear them because I live in Minnesota. The last thing I need is for everyone to assume I'm a Vikings fan or paying tribute to Prince. Honestly, Minnesota's obsession with purple is bizarre

Beautiful weather in Wisconsin, today. Seemed like the perfect time to soak the 014.... Even better weather, tomorrow. Should be the perfect day to wear them.

What size did you get? I think we're roughly the same size and I've been debating a pair of xx017's, but am nervous of the tight thighs (and annoyed at having to get the lower leg tapered.)

What size did you get? I think we're roughly the same size and I've been debating a pair of xx017's, but am nervous of the tight thighs (and annoyed at having to get the lower leg tapered.) I went with my usual size 36. The jury is still out on these. I just gave them a 45 minute cold soak, a little while ago. I'm waiting for them to dry, to give them a fit check. Having the AI-003, I have some experience with the cut, though. Taking some quick measurements, my AI currently have an 18.25" waist, a thigh a hair under 13" at the crotch seam, 9" knee, and an 8.25" cuff. The upper thigh is in my sweet spot. The lower thigh is comfy, but I wouldn't want it any smaller. It's a common fit for me and Japanese tapered denim. Being 6'2", with long thighs, the taper is not quite ideal. I certainly wouldn't complain, if the knee spec was closer to 9.25". But, it is within my comfort zone. It's a far cry better than the SG2109, that's for sure. The cuff is right in my sweet spot, as well. Although, I'm hoping the cuff of the purp is a bit tighter. Lighter weight denim is summer wear for me, and I rarely wear boots, outside of work, then. I prefer a smaller cuff with sneaks. When they are dry, I'll post some specs....

Cool, thanks. Yeah, same height here, clearly outside of the Japanese knee taper. I'd probably Railcar the cuff down to 7.5", just my preferred measurement for lighter denim. Looking at some Momotaro that are 7.0", which I don't think I can pull off, but they're contrast stitch, which I'd really prefer. PBJ Momo

Looking at some Momotaro that are 7.0", which I don't think I can pull off, but they're contrast stitch, which I'd really prefer. PBJ Momo I've loved those Momo's since I first layed eyes on them. Agreed, I prefer the contrast stitching, as well. They age beautifully, and that contrast is outstanding, the more they fade. Jay from BOW has a blog about his pair, and they are phenomenal... These are the reason I chose the 014 over the 017. You'd be hard pressed to find another comparable pair of purple weft denim, and I find the Momo cobalt to be preferable. I'm holding out hope Momo uses this denim/contrast in a more favorable cut. From the specs I've seen, over the past couple years, if the PBJ 017 is worrisome, the Momo are downright scary. The 0305 BOW had were no good at all, for me. The 0306 BiG has are better. But, the knee spec is still a bit too close to the SG2109 for my liking. My purps are dry, and there isn't much difference between them and the AI, as far as fit goes. The thigh and knee are identical. The waist is smaller. But, I expected that. With a couple of wears, I'm sure the 014 will stretch to near the same. The cuff is 8". So, I'm closer to what I wanted from them. All in all, it's a great fit. At some point, I may try the new cut. But, it's good to know... the slim tapered cut works for me, and there is a great deal of consistency from denim to denim.

The RgT Overdyed in SK fit seemed ideal and Cultizm has a pair in my size. But turns out the contrast stitch was a mock up and they were produced with tonal stitching. Lame.
