scooter yeah, that's why I'm hemming and hawing. Each chart has issues and it's hard to know what to go with but I think I can make the 33 work based on what people have been saying here. In your case, I wouldn't be very concerned. Being between sizes, 1" apart, can be easily managed with soaking/washing properly. |

So 38 it is then. Man, never guessed buying jeans would take this much work. Holy Cow. So another thought I had, how often do these things get released? Rarely. I think jbreitenbucher has been waiting something like a year. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's been about a year since I just really got into denim in August of last year. |

They don't look near as bright in these pics.

northcoast They do not seem too bright at all. I went with the 33 Raw and the waist pre soak was about 17 3/4 and the inseam was 36. Post cold soak they measure 17 (I inserted a jacket hanger to prevent them from shrinking more) and the inseam is 35. I didn't measure the thigh or knee pre-soak. They were a little snug in the top block post soak, but I was able to get everything buttoned without much effort. I would say that the top block is very close to my Gustin 33 slim Zims but that they have about an inch more room from knee to cuff than the Zims. I think that after a day or two of wear they will be more comfortable than the Zims, because they won't be hugging my calves like the Zims.

Your making it very hard for me to not pull the trigger on these, and your comment about the calves is spot on in my preferences.
So you normally wear a G ? and bought what size in these?

northcoast I usually go with a G 33 slim and they are definitely snug to start in the top block but stretch to be very comfortable. The only thing that doesn't stretch much are the calves. I guess I just have larger calves than the G slim is designed for and probably should go with a G 33 straight. I went with a 33 raw in the xx-010s and did a cold soak before wearing. I'm finding them to be pretty much the same top block as my G 33 slim and the knee to cuff to be between a G slim and G straight. I find this to be perfect since the G straights that I do have are just a little too roomy from knee to cuff.

I just discovered the Purple Rain thread, I have been waiting for G to use a purple weft! I have no need for these except for they look really cool. I am going to try hold back... but...
Gustin 32 slim = PBJ 31 Tapered?

the XX-010 isn't tapered–it's a slim straight and it's unsanforized. that said, i did size down one from G slim size for the XX-010 and it worked out.

looks like the same cut as the 12 and 13 which i'm familiar with. it's a bit more slim in the top block than G's slim and looser in the calves. i size up on those...
wonder if the 14 will be back around now that the 10's dropped again.

Cobalts are on my list as well. I'm guessing we may see a restock on those in the first couple months of 2016 based on the time of last release.

yinzer they've been coming along nicely. There is some evidence of the indigo wearing away at the side of the knees (I tend to sit with my legs crossed at the knees a lot) and back pocket where the iPhone tends to live. I may need to hot soak just the waistband since there is a good inch to 1.5 inch gap when I pull on the front of the waistband. Otherwise the fit after a cold soak is spot on. The length may be two to 2.5 inches long but I'll give them a few more soaks before dealing with it. The texture is really great with all the slubiness. I guess I'll hold out for the xx-018 rather than get the Momotaro cobalt wefts.

Gotta build up the confidence to wear them with all that purple! Does anyone ask you about them or notice them all that much? Is the weave fairly loose, or is this more of a cold weather denim? I think they would look especially good during the summer. |
