Finally got my Rustic Blue Twill. Much to my surprise, the placket is dead-straight. Could be a fluke, or it could be that Gustin has finally set the sew shop straight (ahaha unintended pun). Other details are great, I sized up from my previous shirts to get a better fit after being washed a number of times but it by no means is large (actually it literally is ahahahaaha damn I'm on a roll). I can't afford to buy any more clothes for a while so I'm glad this turned out well.
As for the overall aesthetic and feel, it's great. Heavier than my Charcoal Twill thankfully and the pattern is just what I wanted.
Maybe I'll trust Gustin again for shirt purchases.
Edit: Also forgot to mention the nearly flawless integration of the pocket. I didn't even notice it at first. Horizontally it's perfect but vertically it's off by a millimetre.

Cody cancelled my Army Duck Canvas Chinos order no questions asked, and gave me a refund, which was awesome. I guess refunds are now being offered because any unsold items go straight to the Stock store, and get sold pretty quickly.

Anyone else receive a Happy Holidays email from Gustin? I did not receive one. Anything interesting? It was a personal email (personal because my name was used) that said thanks for sticking with us through the bad times, delays, and inability to fulfill orders, and the good times. I'll let you know if it's anything interesting in a few days.

RE: Redditt-gate. I hate to do this, but it's important that we clear this up. As you can see below, both the poster elementality22 and Gustin were incorrect in their use of 'affect', which, used as a noun in this context, makes no sense.
"[–]elementality22Gustin #19, IH-533, SG 2109 2 points 3 days ago
I was going to say that these don't look like the same denim as Gustin's loomstates, and from what they said to you I think that's confirmation that it's not. So I don't think it will really have an affect on their business.
[–]weargustin -3 points 3 days ago
What affect could it have?"
The correct word that should have started off the whole incident is of course 'effect'. Although maybe G was using elementality22's word super-ironically, and even without scare-quotes ('What "affect" could it have?') ... which makes G's response actually more snarky or verging on badass, depending on your proclivity. I choose 'badass'. But then I like G. Regardless, I thought that this needed to be cleared up the only way it's gonna be cleared up: with correct grammar. You're welcome.

Just got these in. Ren said to look out for a little gift in the mail, and this is what it was. To my untrained eyes, but the fact that I'm wearing them right now and they look and feel the same, I'd have to say this is a Grey Silk apron. Beautiful.

Just to beat the dead horse of sizing issues - I received my Heavy Americans yesterday. Size 34 Straight. Compared to my 34 Straight 1960s, they feel like they're a full size smaller. I haven't measured, but they feel as tight, if not tighter, as my 33 Straight Jades. I can wear them and they'll stretch, but I don't think they'll ever be as comfortable as my 1960s.
Now, well after ordering the HAs, I read that the heavier denim sews up smaller than normal. Of course, that was after the point where I could change sizes.
This seems to be common with the heavier denims, but it doesn't seem to be common knowledge unless you're well dug into forums like this. I'd figure that Gustin knows this already from experience. If they would add one line to their flowery marketing descriptions: "Since this is a heavy denim, it will sew up about a size smaller than normal, so please order a size larger than your normal Gustin size."
As it is, I'm betting that we're going to see a batch of HAs showing up on the stock store in a month as customers return them for being smaller than advertised.
I like the denim and can live with the jeans (if I can lose 15 pounds, they'll probably be spot on for me), but they won't be my best fitting jeans. And, that's frustrating for my first pair of semi-heavy weight denim.

Those aren't heavy enough to follow the "heavy sews up smaller" findings. I have 12, 14, 16, 18, and 26oz Gustin, and the only ones that sewed up small were the 26oz Beasts. The others are sewed up on target with the fit guide. That's my experience anyway. Your HA's should not have sewn up small IMHO.

I haven't measured them yet, but in comparison to my relatively new, identically sized 1960s, they feel much smaller.

Good news is that the HA should expand an inch or so. Mine did, so I think that if you can button them and wear them, you might be OK. However, Gustin needs to get a grip on this...

I don't have any hard evidence, but I'm skeptical that the weight (within reason) of denim is the *primary* factor that defines how a garment comes together. My lightest-weight Gustins (natural indigo x persimmon) came in the smallest of any of them. My Zims came in a touch small while some others here on the forum reported that they came in a bit large. Not saying that the denim has no influence, only that in my experience the vagaries of the construction process probably have more to do with how closely a given garment matches the spec.

NIxP's sewed up smallest of all my G's.. Beasts were ordered using my regular waist size and came in within spec. I think it's lot variation and dependent upon the cutter's skill as much as fabric.

Got my KingZims. Nice stiff heavy but manageable pair of blue jeans. Just what I wanted in a daily beater pair! I ordered a 38 slim with the advice and hopes that I'd get a 37.5 - 38" . Mine came in at 39" and will need to go back.

Anyone else receive a Happy Holidays email from Gustin? I received an email like that. They also shipped me a grey silk apron. Pretty sick. Regained faith I will say that they are still trying their best and care about customers.

Hey David, Those that are on ebay are the same that are being sold at the Gustin Forum, i read your post there also, it was spot on In fact i was considering those but not at that price fot the reasons you mentioned. I just wanted to know if they are truly worth it. I'm a 32 slim in gustin but i don't know if those would fit. I'm just curious!
