cone bluexblacks are notoriously hard to fade.
/store/2109 is probably the best option if you want the st-120x look.

Indigo x black will get you closer to the 3Sixteen look. Just keep to Japanese denim if you like the heavier fade potential.

I would have to agree with the three links whiskeyriver provided. Those will probably be the closest you'll get. The Cone BluexBlack will not be the pair to get you there though. They are nice but just not a pair that will produce those fades. |

Hmmm, what about the midnight indigos? I think the white weft is going in the wrong direction. If you want shadow selvedge, due to their weight the actual 3sixteen are the way to go, none of the lighter weight fades quite like it. Stay the hell away from the Cone Blue x Black, and if you must go Gustin then either wait for the Japan Blue x Black, or the REAL Japan Royal Indigo (indigo warp, royal blue weft, rainbow ID -- though I guess they did a run of that fabric with a white ID, I don't trust it) or go for the real thing and start trolling Denimio for some PBJ blue x black and be happy for the rest of your life. Assuming you never make a pretty woman your wife. Or really just anything from PBJ, if fades are your thing. If you can find the cobalt weft, buy it immediately. |

They have a 14 oz indigo/indigo bright ID on sale, and from what I checked out here from gaseousclay and whiskeyriver, it appears to have fade potential based on how much it's inking things up. Although, $22 shipping stateside. Just picked up a pair myself. Because I totally needed another pair of indigo denim. |

I can't slight the use of the company credit card - I thought I had a credit from submitting an expense report (I charged a rental car on my own Amex). I factored in the difference and thought "I could get myself a G Thomas Mason shirt for that credit...and it's something I can wear at work...brilliant!" Ordered. Then I get an email from my accounts payable person with "we submitted your non corporate card expense for reimbursement and you'll get it with your next paycheck".  Meaning I actually didn't get a credit and ended up just using my corporate Amex to buy a shirt. Oh well, sweet shirt. |

I was looking at getting a pair of 3 Sixteen ST-120x which look great, but a sale came up for the Naked and Famous elephant 4 which has similar color characteristics and fading but is 22 ounce.
They are fading like crazy.
My Lawless 14.5 mystery Japanese denim have fulfilled my light denim for the summer. Not much for fading going on with these though. It's alright as I do like having a dark indigo that keeps their color.
Forgot to the mention the main contributing factors to me purchasing denim now it is that the fit is correct.
3 Sixteen ST-120x specs and Naked and Famous weird guy fit are right on for me.
