Thanks for the suggestion. That's the route I'm going to take. Glad I could help. Re: Vibram, I find it's not a good "cold-weather-wet-grip" rubber, but there are quite a few different vibram composites. If you can get away with Dainite, then you'll be able to maintain the look of the boots but with the real thing, but I would guess that's one of the more expensive options. I've never had a real Dainite sole, though, so I can't really provide an assessment. I'm in Southern California, so I don't have to worry about cold and wet.

I got the boots back today. I'm very happy with them. It was $75 and Thursday said they would pay for it. The cobbler said that they are an extremely well built pair of boots. He said that you just don't see boots built this well anymore. I may pick up a pair of the natural colored ones.

Not the type of sole that I will normally go for but I am glad that it works out for you. I will wait a bit for the natural (sold out anyway) and let TBC fix all the open issues first. I don't believe your sole problem is a true exception.

That's so good to hear they made it right by you, and that the shoe-man likes 'em even after getting under the hood a little bit. They look great, and like you'll have them for quite a while. It's not really the best picture for it, but it looks like they also don't exhibit that strange heel crease that was in pictures of some of the early boots. It looks like you're putting some use into them, so I look forward to seeing them show up in the patina thread in a year or so.

don't worry about it. I think it was in the reddit reviews somewhere... I sort of loathe reddit so I'm hesitant to go over there to find it, but one of the early reviews (I believe this is the dude that cut a Thursday in half) had a crease outside of the seam that seemed to be a stiffener of some sort, it almost made it look like there were two seams. It'd be good to find out that it was just a prototype run sort of thing. But this is beside the point. Yours look great, and with moderate care I think you'll have a good pair of boots for a long time, at a very reasonable investment.

Dirty_Denim you've been putting some miles on your diplomats. have you done a fair bit of walking in them? how are they holding up comfort-wise? My recent weight loss has been due to literally walking a lot. I would say in LA alone i walked 5 miles in a few hours at a pretty good NY pace. During my AZ stay we are on the move none stop and all by walking. They have many miles on em already BUT i still kinda baby em so they are yet to have any shit kicking in em. I am still in the stay a few feet behind people to avoid scuffs stage. I am nearing the end of that but I am extremely happy with them and the comfort has been great. The 1st 2 days they were stiff and now they are great for anything. The soles are pretty good for all types of activities. At $200 they are to me worth every penny and if you like em enough like I do you can buy 2 styles and feel like you stole a pair I give em a 10 out of 10 for the price tag, the look and IF they fall apart in a year or 2 I will simply buy another. $200 is such an easy spend for me and did not take any contemplating.

What is the consensus on this company? They're up on Huckberry, and I'm really digging the roughout pair.

The mood on r/goodyearwelt seems to be that they're OK boots for the price but have some construction and materials issues that, while most likely acceptable at the price point, still place them behind other more widely/easily available options at around the same money. I agree with you, though, their roughouts do look lovely.

But I'm not a fan of their soles, and the Rawrdenim review talks about how long term quality isn't there with this company.

I think I'd probably buy a pair if I were in the States (ie, without significant shipping/taxes being added). They seem the kind of 'daily wear' boot that'd likely last 2 or 3 years unless treated harshly. For the money, I reckon they'd be a decent option to have available but I don't think they're anything to rival 1000 Mile/Beckmans etc.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the rough out woolrich also on huckberry, except that the wool lining will probably suck in the summer. I know Dirty_Denim was pretty happy with his Thursday's, and that reddit whined about them endlessly.

Mine are holding up pretty well. I clean em after every wear. The snow and salt has me overly aware of keepin them good. They look pretty good with them now looking like a well worn pair of boots. They are comfy as hell and the soles make for a great walkin boot. I m holding up for another pair this summer because I have a feeling they will be dropping something new or else I would be all over the President Rough outs

Love the boots but damn, why is it so hard for people to make a 2E in something? Just make a few of them or have them available as a custom order. It's not that difficult.
