When did they claim to be better than anyone? Did they really say they were better quality than Alden or any of the higher priced boot brands? I looked for this but cant find it anywhere. From what I have read they said they are making a great boot at a fraction of the price of the larger boot brands. The use the word value which is a subtle way of saying our price is low enough for you to be happy with what you get. Value is a personal understanding of an item in my book.
Why is transparency so important. Why do companies have to tell everyone how they do something. Maybe they do not want to tell people their secrets. Should a chef tell you whats in his recipe. People talk about brands using buzz words/terms like "Made in America" Or made on "vintage sewing machines" but i think consumers have their own buzz words they love using and transparency is one of them.

Not trying to fan flames here, but on the KS page: Great Value: Our boots compete toe-to-toe with luxury brands 2-5x more expensive. By staying lean and cutting margins, we are able to offer the highest quality boots at an unbeatable value.

With all that's been said, though, Reddit tends to be extraordinarily tough on any subject that graces it's screen-space. I haven't found anything on reddit where people heap praise on something, or even a thread where you come away with a generally positive impression. of anything. They'll make you hate rainbows and unicorns.
All that said, the only concerns I have with the TBC boots (from pictures I've seen) is the weird stiffener that shows through the leather and creates a different line than the seam of the heel. As far as I see it, that's the only thing that makes them less desirable than they maybe could be. I'm curious to see how they turn out for you, though. I still think about the possibility of getting the cap-toe, but seeing your recent Trench Boot pics I'm starting to think I'm pretty solidly in the OSB camp now.

Dirty_Denim i don't think they claim to be better, though do claim to come toe to toe (see what i did there?) with boots '2-5x more expensive'. I put their direct quote in my last post, and I see exophobe has also linked the source. I agree with you that customers don't need to know all aspects of a company's operations or even construction. However, when the company chooses to offer that information it should be accurate and truthful. If not, that's deceptive and unsavory...and I have no problem with people calling those issues out. In the case of TBC's boots, the information they volunteered turned out to be incorrect...so again they were either willingly deceitful or advertising a product that's ultimately different than what they're selling.

Ok got my TBC Diplomat. I was of course nervous to get these but not for what you think. My fear was that I sized wrong and I did NOT. They fit so good. I am a 12 in most standard boots, shoes and sneakers. I wear an 11 in Converse an 11 in RW IR 13 in Nike Shox 11.5 in White SD 11 in OST Bootmaker Trench boots and a 11.5 in Thursday boot. I could have even went with a real snug fit in these and chose 11 but the 11.5 is good for me. The true to size thing is a bit wonky because it all depends on what your foot is like I am not one that will do much of a review other than what the item makes me feel when I first see it and try on. They feel quite sturdy and the leather looks beautiful. It looks to be a good cut of the leather as well as the color looking even. To me they are well worth the $200 if I was being conservative but because I like em so much I would say $200 plus the feeling they give me knowing they are mine makes them valued at $TAY THE HELL AWAY FROM MY BOOTS Those look really nice, just curious what the footbed feels like compared to your IRs, and would like to see a photo after you've worn them a couple months. Please.

I have never owned brown CXL so it's causing me to have inner excitement

They made these in CXL but the other 2 brown style boots came in Thursday Chrome leather as they call it

Did not know that. They look very nice. Thank you. I am almost ready to pull the trigger on the rough outs they have up right now. Their photo's do not do the boots any justice. They look so much better IRL Like for instance the Rough outs look so good HERE compared to HERE

I dig some of the rugged waxed canvas stuff RRL has been putting out but just haven't convinced myself that I absolutely need one. If I can get lucky with either of these I will be a happy man THIS THAT THIS

Good news and bad news. Good news is I am able to cancel the Saddleback briefcase because my wife is giving me some serious grief on selling and buying back the same bag and lost 2 bills from the process.
Bad news is I just bought another pair of boots... I hate myself.

Mine were nice looking boots. But, unfortunetly after about a month of wearing them around town and in the office, they are already coming apart. And they look terrible for only a months worth of wear. I've had at least 30 pairs of boots and have never had a pair come apart like this, let alone come apart so fast or look this bad this fast. I have asked nicely to send them back for a replacement pair. Nolan wants to discuss my situation on the phone. He said in the email that I could have them repaired. I shouldn't have to spend my money to have month old boots repaired. I emailed back and said that I just want them replaced. I've sent the email twice and they will not answer me. It appears there is no warranty or customer service. Buyer beware!
