Just pulled the trigger on a pair of these from Rodeo Bros. I've been outside often lately and it's getting way too cold in Colorado for me to not own something heavy like this. Fingers crossed that they show up before Thanksgiving! You'll love them. Enjoy I got them on Wednesday and can't tell you how much I love them. I was outside a fair amount this weekend and we got snow here- having jeans this heavy made all the difference. The cut works really well for me and I'm impressed by the attention to detail put into these jeans. Very pleased.

I'm visiting my daughters family in Aurora, and have been wearing the Beasts everyday, which have been impervious to the cold. Loves me some heavyweight denim.

I've been wearing these every day for a week now and I'm really stoked on them. They're comfortable all day at work when I'm inside and moving around a lot during a ten hour shift and they're awesome when I'm outside and it's cold and the wind would normally be blowing right through me. They breathe really well when I'm sweating, but keep me nice and warm when I have to be outside for awhile too. Best of both worlds.

As much shit as I give IH, their 21 oz. is the best denim going IMHO. It's magic denim haha.

Did they resolve their loom issues for the 21oz? It's the one thing that might break my IH hold out.

Gustin could have been a 1/3rd of the price. Chew on that for awhile

Gustin can could have been a 1/3rd of the price. Chew on that for awhile Yoda, is that you? Remember that Iron Heart isn't all that expensive, especially when you consider the weight. Rakuten pricing is pretty much in line with other Japanese brands and cheaper than most US brands. Further, unlike Gustin, IH has denim made specifically for them, sews things up themselves and actually does something G has never heard of, quality control. Comparing G to IH is like saying that Applebees and Delmonico's both sell steaks, why pay the difference? I can't believe I'm defending (non SE or IHUK) Iron Heart.

Did they resolve their loom issues for the 21oz? It's the one thing that might break my IH hold out. Not yet that I'm aware of. Just to clarify the issue was with the loom for the 21/23oz unsanforized which is not the flagship 21oz unsanforized fabric which we are referring to in this thread. I think you know that but just in case there's any confusion. They're two different fabrics

The funny thing is, when buying from Rakuten, Iron Heart pricing is pretty much in line with Gustin's previous heavy offerings. Beasts were $200, Iron Heart 25oz isn't that much more. I think the 23oz Gustin is typically 175, isn't it? Short the recent 21oz offering, there really hasn't been that much difference lately, especially given speed of delivery for the IH from Japan. You don't even have to go into differences in craft to find the value, honestly. Buying from SelfEdge or IHUK, well the difference there is that you can ask them to measure exactly what they're sending you. If that's not worth the extra money to you, then you know where you're headed. Gustin is great for dabbling in all sorts of denim without as much investment, but will never see the sort of consistency some other brands see simply as a result of their model, just like most other brands will never see such a diverse range of fabrics due to theirs. However, I think DigDug was just taking a jab and trying to be funny.

All in good fun I see the value in IH Rakuten and even in some of the unique items from IHUK (ultra heavy flannel for example). For me the problem is the sizing offered buy Rakuten (usually don't have the bigger stuff) but more importantly I don't believe any of the IH cuts would suit me in the 21oz. Oddly the V1 of the 777 kind of looked like it would have worked but buy the time I figured that out they were gone (would have been a good buy at $235 sale price). This leaves only the 633 SE offers at $335. So I'll stick with the Gustins 21Monsters (that's what I'm calling them:)

Yeah, thats the downside about Rakuten. Rakuten is hit or miss on available sizes. Was looking at a few denims, and they weren't available in my size. If the Gomsters are disappointing in QC, I'll just return them, but I know that a 35 slim will fit me even if they sew up small. I'm more about seat and thighs than I am about waist.

That's my plan as well. If I end up sending them back I'll be placing an order for the 633's with SE.

The only indigo I wear now is my IH 21oz and my G Loomstates. The IH just feels great, substantial yet still quite light and soft, but I also love the knobbly feel of the Loomies. I just wish I'd gone straight to these two and not gone through an expensive learning curve.

Truly two different fabrics and wear completely Different. I do want to wear my 25oz and 26oz beast more.

I get and have seen the IH 21oz. How much different do you think the Gustin 21's are to the IH's? Clearly they arnt the same, I know that. But how different or what do you think the difference is?

The thing that is frustrating to me about IH is that there is such a difference in the thighs for the different 666 fits.
666S-21 Thigh with a 33" waist: 11.3
666S-II thigh with a 33" waist: 12.1
666S-18 thigh with a 33" waist: 11.5
Need a bigger thigh? 33" waist on the 634S typically has a 17.5-18" cuff.

That's because the IxI is unsanforized. That thigh measurement you have listed is pre soak.

Gotta say, the 666 IH 19oz lefty loomies I'm wearing are simply the baddest fing jeans I've experienced. The IH21S are sweet too. Just sent Gustin #211 Zim loomstates back having wore these for about 2 months. There is no comparison (e.g., construction, denim, etc.) period. This is coming from someone who couldn't fathom paying IHUK/SE prices. Rakuten prices are a no brainer; Gustin heavy weights are more fing money..craaaazy...wish I heard about Rodeo Bros before as above prices really rubbed me the wrong way for years and never had the courage to Rakuten. The 666 cut is great too. It is like the the slim cut from G I wanted.

They will also make it in the 634 cut.

Having scored a bunch from Rodeo Bros recently (think I scored the Johnny Cash shirt in XL right before you lucked out:(), I'm pretty hesitant getting from IHUK/SE. Shitte though, been waiting on a natural indigo cheese dye for a while. Received the Gustin's at $150 and they of course sewed up too small and were frankly underwhelming at 11oz. Totally looked great though. IDK man, really hard between 666-UHR, OD, black with grey, and maybe these:) Damn you Rodeo Bros for having the UHR in only 634...somebody needs to get on those! Edit: One thing to watch out for is Rodeo Bros's apparent smaller inseam such as with the 25oz and the raws like the 19oz. Really strange with the inseam measurements via Rodeo Bros. Katsuya so kindly measured their inseams on some cut a couple months back and they were congruent with their chart, however, Rakuten/JP always has typical inseam measurement such as with IHUK, etc. Why Rodeo Bros would get differing inseam lengths such as with the current restock of 666HS at only 89cm is baffling.
