As With many leather products that start off natural...they look much too flesh tone as-is. But...those who are able to power through that initial phase will then have products that make everyone wish they had done the same.

I was on a natural leather buying spree over the last year. I believe if you don't mind putting in work it will like David says turn out great. If you got the time and money, go for it. If you have something similar already maybe another colorway.

If you're going to go natural with a perforated cap-toe, I'd rather have these. Prices are in CAD so it's really about < $650 USD for the pair.

Thanks for the input guys!! I'm totally down for putting in the work to making them into something with more character, and as @david accurately put it, less fleshy. devastitis THOSE are exactly what I've been looking for, and I'm so upset they're out of my size, 8...

They do this preorder every 4-6 months if you can wait that long. Brooklyn Clothing Company, also based in Canada, has a couple makeups that I think look amazing. These two in particular. The Mushroom Chamois will be my next Viberg purchase.

I don't think brass looks that great on those natural boots, as they're much more yellow than pale brown. But I'm also not a fan of the laces they used on the BCC Chromepaks either. Something in between would probably be ideal, like the laces on the left over the laces on the right.

I just found a pair of service boots, color 8 cxl, cap toe, for a little under $500, with a Boxing day discount. Would I be crazy not to grab them ? Somebody push me, one way or the other, please. Edit: they are in the cart...

Edit: they are in the cart... Thats a pretty great price for them. Only cheaper price would be during the sample sale, but that's not guaranteed to have your size and style in stock, and it costs some to get there if you're not a NYC resident.

It was a great price. I paid more for my Marrone from Truman. In the end, that was what convinced me to pull the trigger.

@scooter that is a great deal.. where did you find these? While checking out Boxing Day sales on Heddels, I came across the Blue Button Shop, out of Toronto. They had 25% off everything, with the code "box25". The boots listed at $890/CAD. With the code, they dropped to $667.50/CAD. After conversion, my math put them at $493/USD. After PayPal converted, I wound up paying $501. But, I wasn't about to complain about $8. As I said, they were still cheaper than my Truman's. A roughly 30% discount total, for Viberg, is tough to beat. For anyone interested, I checked stock at Blue Button a few minutes ago, and they still have an 11.5 left.

Yeah, the patterned Shell stuff they've been putting out lately is mind blowing... Too showy for me, but GORGEOUS Oh there are others? I'll have to look up their IG and find them. I wish more companies would do that to their leather. I have a pair of Quoddys that feature stamping around the eyelet pieces. On the subject of slippers though, these have Datainte soles and are being offered on GYW via. Rider Boot.

New Scout boot--1035 last-- Black Seidel Rough out--Vibram 2060 sole The wedge style soles had to grow on me, and now I feel they give the boot a more casual vibe compared to Dainite, commando, reg stacked, etc... Super comfy right out the box--they feel more like sneakers than boots. Down the road I might go double stacked sole with the mini ripple, ala 3sixteen, as well as a waxed treatment like sno-seal (depending on how they age).

I've been trying to work myself up into a wedge sole but just cant get myself there.
I see Truman is taking orders for one now, light suede.
Enjoy your new boots!

It's funny how dramatically a simple sole change affects the vibe of a boot. Not sure why the change of my camp occured--I was decidedly anti-wedge not long ago But its nice to have more casusal boot options, and leave the sneakers at home more often.
