the grey ones are sweet. they would look great with a natural leather sole and stacked heel too (which i'd probably do when they need to be resoled).

Viberg has sample sales every so often where u can grab a $700-$800 boot for half off. They put the best styles in there as well so its not like u are finding the shit nobody wants. Right now there isnt much but they announce when its stocked. You have to be faster than fast because everyone & their mother wants a pair viberg.com/collections/sample-saleBy far the service boot is my favorite boot with White's next in a close second

Someone over on SF posted pics of his insanely awesome navy shell cordovan service boots. If there's a single pair of Vibergs I covet it's these

Have too much money and no space to stuff those in the mattress anymore, here is your solution. Price will be in the neighborhood of $1100. It is shell but not sure it worth the price. http://instagram.com/p/wsF-dlLpsA

The only way I'd consider throwing $1000 at shell service boots is if they were the navy shell variety, which are harder to come by

The only way I'd spend a 1000 on these would be if I win a lottery.

The only way I'd spend a 1000 on these would be if I win a lottery. Frankly, I really believe most of the members can buy this pair of boots if we are willing to simplified our wardrobe. If we limit ourselves to two pair of Indigo jeans, one pair each of different color jeans and five really nice shirts, many of the members can spare enough money to buy not one but even two pair of $1K and above boots. Frankly, our outfits will probably look x2 better since all the clothing items will be more selective and higher quality. Getting better myself on this but definitely not there yet.

It's also a matter of Quality vs Cost ratio, not just affordability. With regards to high end boots (or any fashion items in general) the curve of Quality vs Cost grows linearly up to a point and after which, it starts to become exponential. To pay for slightly higher quality you might need to pay twice as much. Then it's up to the consumer to evaluate if it justifies that price increase. Do I think Viberg's are twice as good or will last twice as long as White's, OSB or Rancourt? I'm not sure. And to me, I can't justify spending 1K when I can get what I consider 'good enough' pair for half the price.

It is the same : you can buy an amp or an headphones for many $1000 but you can get a quite good sound for a couple of $100 and the gap between these two is not 10 times...

Agree with both of you and my statement was more general. I don't believe the hype of Viberg and don't think its boots worth the money. However, if you refer back to my original post, there are great boots that do worth the type of money. My point was to buy less on similar items and more on quailty.

To answer your question, value is completely subjective. Not everyone wants a heavy weight denim, and not everyone wants a dark indigo denim. But this is all besides the point.
