Just got the indigo crosshatch WS in. I love the fabric! My fears were confirmed about the contrast stitching though. This would have been perfect with tonal stitching (and a pocket flap). Still, I'm considering keeping it. Didn't someone go over the stitching on one of their work shirts with a pen? I'm considering doing that. What do y'all think? Return or modify? I'd be more concerned about the fact that the right hand pocket is much closer to the centre—and noticeably lower—than the left. The right hand side fabric isn't at a 45 degree angle either. It's rotated about 30 degrees, where the left seems to be about 45. What a shitshow the QC is over there . . .

Again, Gustin doesn't do QC. That's the problem. They have outside sewers do their work, then don't appear to review their work. This is exactly why their claim that they offer the same product costing much more is BS. Others do the work themselves and don't let this sort of crap out of the door.
Gustin doesn't make anything so they don't appear to care about how the stuff they pay to have made is actually assembled. Previously it seemed that the WS sewers were better than the ocbd sewers, but either they sent these shirts to the ocbd guys or everyone they use now sucks.

Workshirts are better overall imho, but still not good. The top buttonhole on my workzimb came undone like the one pictured higher up. I had to sew the buldge back and superglue. It doesn't show but it sucks and the funny part is that it never happened before in my entire freaking life even on $10 shirts.
All of this and especially throwing in the cutting of the selvedge incident makes me think they just take people from the street and give them a half day crash-course to cut and sew and that's why they are cheap and stuff are often shit. No cutter who is a cutter would cut 2 pockets at different angels, not even a healthy person who is not a cutter would do this. Not even my 8 year old daughter would do this. My 3 year old might do it in a pinch, but usually have good attention to detail, she even draws the pupill in the eyeball on her figures, we could setup a skype-meeting and she could tell them which way is up and down, could be some extra cash to buy more crayons for her.
I`m not bashing, I`m sincere, a cutter or a sewer should have some sort of eye for which way the pattern is, if its backwards, upside down or inside out. The factories workers do not have this eye, so they are not even a person who would pass the exam from a "sewing school". They should be able to stitch 2 lines on top of each-other so it doesn't look like a drunk person did it, but they do not have these persons at the factory.
Biggest reason I don't back more is because we get screwed on the shirts, they are not even at the detail of my local $10 shirts. none of them have had buttons come loose, drunk stitching or buttonholes coming loose. Dont even start with fabric planning, they are masters of their craft compared.
Gustins shirts arent worth what we pay. The single only reason to back is bc they get good fabrics, thats it. Everything else from drawing lines on the fabric to sending the right stuff/size is done by blind people. Im starting to think they really have a heavy QC and what we get is the final 10% that is the cream of the crop.

Got the Italian Khaki Stripe in yesterday and shrunk it up a bit. Really nice fabric, one of my favorites I have from Gustin. I love the brown buttons too. I just hope the button holes on this one hold up, it's a really beautifully made shirt.

Honestly, I feel like the worksheets come in larger than the button-down slim large. I've got about 6-7 button downs in slim large and this is my second work shirt. I do a hot wash and dry to shrink to fit better. They seem boxier, longer and wider to start. Theoretically the cut should be the same. It's a nice shirt, I really dig it. I just hope it holds up better than the Japan Heavy Black.

Don't worry about the button holes. If later down the road they separate, just find a congruent thread color and do a simple button hole stitch around the separated stitching. I have done this on three buttons on my Cone work shirt and it looks great. It came out so well that I reinforced a few other button holes that I was worried about. Takes maybe 20 minutes per hole tops. Keep the stitches close and don't venture too far on the fabric and you're set.

Thanks, dude, I decided to buy it from the Stock Store in Slim Large. We are pretty much exactly the same size so I'm hopeful.

I was critical of this fabric when I saw the swatch but sewed up it looks great! I picked up a classic-L from the stock store. I wear a classic-L to slim XL so I'm hoping my classic L comes in a bit large.

I thought that about the sizing, too, but this one and the indigo Jacquard came in the same size as the periwinkle chambray. It could easily be an anomaly on the periwinkle, but Gustin insists they're all the same size. Either way, I agree, it's a great shirt.

The Japan Khaki Workshirt is back. One I've been waiting for & have backed. Now hopefully the rest of you will as well & Gustin will drop some new fabrics soon.

I don't think I'll be able to, but I hope they use the brown buttons for this one now that they have them. Also, now that I'm living with several, I do wish they could accept collar stays to keep them in line. Since they don't, I think I'll just need to start ironing the collar before I hang it to dry after a wash, it's hard to get the thing straight after it dries.

the CL doesnt fit right, the neck is too tight, the rest is too loose.

Did they ever offer this with any other color buttons? I have it and its got brown buttons (really nice), and agree it rolls like crazy everywhere it can after a warm dry. Mine comes out with ironing tho but it takes a little effort.

I guess I figured that if they had brown buttons, they would have used them on the brwn x black workshirt, as opposed to the navy buttons they used for everything in their first workshirt offerings. Maybe it's something they got after they realized that navy blue doesn't really coordinate with brown or black.

Is their workshirt sizing still running a size larger than their regular shirts?

Does the shirt in the product photos actually represent the true nature of the color on the Japan khaki WS? I'm considering backing this shirt.

Hm. The closeups is better, specially the one of the shoulder, but I would say mine is more yellow and a little lighter but it has been washed many times. I think of mine alot like this one: The shirt is very different from denim or chambray in that its smooth. Its also kinda substantial, but its easy to wear, soft and nice and the tone is great. The only negative is that it curls more then denim at the bottom, it also wont hide a gutbelly since its soft and will form after your body so something to consider and on the other side of the spectrum it will drape a little different since its not as stiff as denim, but its stiffer then say a flanell offcourse. The color is also kinda "alot" in a way that if your pale like me it can fel like "alot of shirt" and on me it looks better with the arms rolled up to get a little "less shirt". I wouldnt chose it over the workzimb but together it is about a 8 or 9 in Gustin. I love it as a part of my wardrobe, it switches up the colors and I would buy it again if it would get lost, just consider the things I say about it being a different fabric, more soft and more tight weave in a way.
