Just got the indigo crosshatch WS in. I love the fabric! My fears were confirmed about the contrast stitching though. This would have been perfect with tonal stitching (and a pocket flap). Still, I'm considering keeping it. Didn't someone go over the stitching on one of their work shirts with a pen? I'm considering doing that. What do y'all think? Return or modify?

As the indigo fades, you'll get a tonal look. I don't think it looks that bad, honestly.

I like the look of contrast stitching on work shirts like that.

Alright, you convinced me. Btw, if anyone wants to trade their classic large for my slim large, let me know. Mine's not too small but bordering.

I agree tonal stitching would have looked better but it still looks good. I still can't believe they cut their pockets diagonally though; it is what stopped me from ordering the last two G workshirts.

I like the stitching too, and the diagonal doesn't even bother me. I have a Gustin WS with contrast stitching, and I've grown to like it quite a bit. Too bad the buttons are all about to fall off though.

Now that I have it in hand, I see what you mean about the pop on the white thread. I kind of like it, but I also believe it'll calm down as the shirt fades out a bit with wash and wear. Navy thread might have been a nice touch, but I'm happy with it as is. The fabric has a great hand to it, seems like it'll get soft but wear well.

kylepa that shirt looks great. will look even better as it ages. I like mine quite a bit. For what it's worth, this shirt did come in the same length as the periwinkle chambray button-down, and the same length as last years brown x black workshirt, so there don't appear to be differing lengths, if there ever were in the first place.

Some good news over on the Gustin thread at Styleforum for workshirt fans: Josh Gustin has asked for suggestions on fabrics to try as workshirts. He need 100 orders per drop to fund though, so keep your eye on that thread & let's hope we get a few unique workshirts coming up!

I'd really like to see some 10+ oz flannels sewn up by their workshirt shop. Sky blue twill would have been a great one, but most of their current offerings would be better as either a WS or 2-pocket.

I wouldn't hold your breath.

It'd just be nice to have a spread collar shirt from them that's sewn up nicely.

I was thinking the same think jackgordon but i wasn't sure if it was just the way he's sitting and the angle of the photo or not. Pockets definitely look funky though.

I would return it for the pockets.
If you decide to keep it, I wouldn't draw on the stitching with a pen. I think it will look bad. I think the indigo will darken the thread a bit.

Fabric looks great; however, it looks the shop didn't execute on the alignment of your pockets. Could be the way the photo was taken? I hate the feeling of really liking the fabric only to be disappointed by QC issues. I had to return my organic Jutes even though I thought the fabric was awesome. I hope they have another workshirt in the same size/fabric for you.

This is how 4 of my button holes ended up on the Japan Heavy Black. The edge stitching completely separated, makes it insanely frustrating to wear or try to unbutton. It's going back, too bad it was a gift. Now I look like I'm ungrateful for someone dropping the dough on a supposedly nice shirt. I'm sending it back as soon as the Italian Khaki Stripe comes in. Was supposed to be December, then last week, then this week now supposedly next week. I've lost all faith. Ciano and Iron Heart get my money from now on.

I'll be bummed if I have to send it back but relieved too. I really dislike the stitching but this is probably my favorite shirting fabric they've run. They need to brink this fabric back as a button down.

I had this happen after a year of wear on my Cone 101. But I was drunkenly doing the buttons and attributed it to brute force idiocy. I redid the stitching by hand myself and haven't looked back. I am willing to bet the contract manufacturer hasn't dialed in their button sewing machines for denim.
sorry to see that, man.
