My particular problem was that in those photos, the overall pattern looked larger than it actually is. After it closed, Dirty_Denim posted a photo of a competitor's shirt made from that fabric, and I was like WTF? that thing is beautiful, why didn't I get in on it? . . . then I realized, i didn't get in on it because the photos are misleading. I made this for just that reason (and posted it on the G forum). My wife finally realized I am indeed a bit insane after she watched me doing it imgur.com/a/mFqF1#0That is actually an insanely informative picture album, thank you!

I couldnt get any of the workshirts because they are too long. Im a little angry about this since I really wanted the wabisabi but didnt get a single ws only because of the long length.
Ickes, it looks amazing.....apart from the fact that its too long. You look like you can get away with it from the pics (and it will shorten with creases and wear) but I could never rock it, I look like Im wearing a nightshirt. And I would be pissed if I had to wash a shirt that is meant to be worn to fades.
I know im in the minority here that likes shorter shirts, since even the normal ones are too long, but to me, not ofering options on length makes this a onesize almost since I cant wear the L bc its too tight in the chest i have to wear an XL and that is too long.
BC of this fact, I cannot ever buy another G shirt again. No matter what. (unless I always tuck it)

Ickes and Griff, ditto on the length -- it's just a little too long. BUT: make sure you wash it, first on cold, then, like I did, if you feel ballsy, on 30 (celcius brahs I'm in Europe I forget what the hell that is in fahrenheit but it's like 'warm' setting). Obviously, as noted, it will screw the fades, so I'm clearly ignoring that.
I say this because the HS WS I have is tight on the chest, no question. I have a 39" chest, and the shirt is something like that out of the bag. But my length was like Ickes'. I was in Australia at the time and wore it in the outback for a couple of days, scared to wash it but then it was just too foul and I felt like a pussy camping in the desert and being scared to wash my shirt. So I threw it in at 30 as stated. The point is that the length shrank but I didn't get any noticeable width shrink. This may just be with that fabric, and the regular G shirts are too tight on me but the WS cut seems just manageable for me chest-wise. The shirt fits me perfect now, a tiny bit tight -- but then it always was.

I know this is off topic but Ickes are you part dinosaur? Your 'hair' looks like the crest on a pterosaur or like an iguanadon or something. You know I love you. Hey, it's not bad: Maybe it's like the red thing on a rooster's head. 'Hens' see that shiznit and deep in their brains they think 'The bigger the 'comb' the bigger the.... ' Ickesosaurus. Shit. (Hell, I wish I had your hair to be honest, having a kid half of mine seems to be falling out, and that doesn't include the brains dripping out my ears either). imgur.com/a/itvL0

RE: Wabisabi . . . this is a point where I am frustrated sometimes with the "fabric swatch" vs. "full sewn up product" pictures. With no sense of scale, it's impossible to tell what the fabric actually looks like other than one of those "make you feel funky" optical illusions. It obviously looks killer sewn up as a shirt. I'm not that crazy about workshirts, but i would have been all over that shirt if I could have gotten a better sense of scale and color (the swatch pictures make it look blue . . . see for yourself: www.weargustin.com/store/969). wholeheartedly agree. gustin has made some strides with this and getting full product photos, but still has a lot of room for improvement...especially for their 'swatch only' products. i have no idea why they can't do some simple things such as adding a ruler along one side, or at least a consistent item for scale, always include at least one photo of the swatch with another standard swatch for color and textural comparison, and always display both front and back (warp and weft in most cases) of a fabric. i hope that in time both G and LD realize that photos speak 1000 words, but accurate/informative photos can be the difference between a happy customer or a returned product. I still think the best idea would be for Gustin to take a white Oxford, lay it flat and then place the swatch atop it.

Received my wabisabi today. Pretty stiff and crispy fabric, so while it's a bit lighter than my postal herringbone, it feels equivalent in heft. Only quibble is that I wish the pockets were patterned aligned. But construction is solid, much better than Gustin's regular shirt line. Glad I went in on this one.

Same. Placket and yoke are very straight and they did seem to make at least a cursory attempt to align the pockets with at least major stripes. Sleeves are a little long as is the body, of course. Hopefully it will shrink a little once I get around to washing it. Miles better than the Flag Plaid I bought from the stock store to check sizing.

ok, guys, I have to admit I feel pretty excited abiutthis shirt!! Holy f!@k this fabric is insanely f!@king killer!!! Ok, so I need honest feedback on the fit fellas cause I hhonestly feel like it fits me better than my IxI and I really think I can work with this with possibly a little tailoring from Lawless, here it is; imgur.com/a/itvL0Its not a perfect fit, it's long and roomy but I'd appreciate some feedback guys ickes Brah, that looks KILLER on you man! Mine is a bit big on me (L, like all my G shirts and chores) I just got an Italy BrownxBlack chore in M, and it fits WAY better. I now have 5 WS's and 1 Chore that I know are 1 size too big for me, and that the M works much better. The chest and shoulders on the L WS's are good, but it's mostly the friggin' sleeves. They are insanely long on my shortish arms. Does LD do tailoring for sleeves? If so, I can make these L's work just fine! Thanks FourHorsemen. Yes, you can send your shirt to LD to tailoring. Hit up Sal and see what they can do.

hope everyone is having a good Christmas!
So I soaked my SakeBomber (WabiSabi) WS last night and it shrank considerably . I soaked it in cold water, no detergent, for about an hour. I'm extremely happy with the results. I easily got an inch of shrinkage in the length. Sleeves shrank up a bit but are still a touch on the long side but I actually prefer that. I really don't think I will need any tailoring at all. This was in cold water and a hang dry so I can only imagine the amount of shrinkage you could get with a hot soak and machine dry.
This thing is super starchy too, I love it! I had a bit of a hard time turning it right side out when it was done drying. It was super stiff like a pair of jeans.
I'm really happy with this shirt. I was debating on selling it before I even received it because I was so unhappy with my IxI shirt but I'm very glad I kept it. I will be wearing this shirt quite often. Theres already some honeycombs settling in on the sleeves at the point where I bend my arms.
so yeah, just keep in mind guys that you can get some considerable shrinkage out of the WabiSabi.

I did a warm wash, med-low machine dry, it pulled the sleeves in at least an inch, seems to have taken about two off the length. I was too excited to measure anything, but it was a cute little dress before I washed it, now it's a really cool over shirt. I think the slim cut g shirt is gonna be a winner. really excited for the hat I backed from circle a brand that seems to be the same fabric.

I want to soak mine to bring the hem up but fear the chest will become too tight afterwards. Thx.

Lost 1 inch in the length and sleeves. Lost 1/2 inch in the neck, and 1/2 inch in the chest measured across (twice that for circumference).

Appreciate the info ickes and Marc. I cold soaked and hanged dried mine. Lost half inch in length. Sleeve and chest were negligible. Unfortunately, my shirt came 1" longer than spec, which is already 1" longer than what I want. The soak helped a little but it's still long.

Got the WabiSabi. First impression is that this is a great shirt. I've personally never had such a substantial shirt before. I feel like an absolute manchild when I put this thing on. Thankfully it fits me great and as I embark on a New Year's diet, hopefully I will shrink to accommodate the expected shrink when I get around to washing it. I'm impressed.

My HS WS was bleeding indigo like crazy during hand wash today. After couple wears during the last two weeks, I consider it as a total loss ($155 down the drain). I later decided to dump it in the same tube that was soaking my Lee selvedge jeans to indigo dyed the Hickory Strike. I am going to have fun with it before putting into the trash or burn it at my back yard.
