It sucks to try to do on mobile. The shirt looks like an absolutely lovely tunic there, though. I would bet you they have that IxI clipped tight in the back for this pic. No way it's that form-fitting. Not even close.

It's also one of the first samples they showed, and honestly seems cut for the guy modeling it. Could also be an early sample of the slim fit. My HS1 is classic fit, so unfortunately I can't really comment as to how the slim is coming out. I think the only slim fit pics were from the mustachioed gentleman, but he probably could have sized down at least one size from where he was. Speaking of him, I hope it shrunk up for him a bit if/when he washed it.

And mine is a Classic fit as well. I'm going to do the hot soak and hot dry tonight, and see (Starting with the IxI, and then I'll do the HS based on how that comes out). I'm trying to decide between super hot soak VS washing machine (front loader) on highest water temp, gentle cycle, no spin. I'm leaning towards the soak. Ickes: How long did you hot soak? How hot did you go? I can get scalding hot from my tap if I want, which I guess is what I should do. Also, how was the fade factor post soak/dry? Oh, last question: Did you use any detergent/soap? I have a bottle of Woolite Darks I just grabbed last week for some jeans. Haven't cracked it open yet. A little of that, or none IYO? Thanks brahs

For my HS1, I'll jump back and find my measurements table and paste it here. But I have a classic XL, and washed it on Warm/Cold in a front loader (I want to say on gentle cycle, but I don't remember), a little bit of oxi-clean powder, extra low spin. Hung it dry, and to keep the collar from getting all curly I pulled it them straight while drying. Didn't get a noticeable change in the "coloring", and it softened up a little bit. I imagine if I had dried it I could have gotten far more shrink out of it, but I think this is a looser weave than the infamous IxI warkshirt.

Japan Hickory Stripe - Classic XL | | Fit Guide | Measured | Post-Wash | Chest | | 47.5 | 47.5 | 46 | Waist |
| 45.5 | 45.5 | 44.5 | Center Back | | 31.375 | 31.875 | 30.125 | Sleeve Length | | 36 | 35.5 | 34.25 | Neck | | 16.5 | 17 | 17 | Shoulder | | 19.5 | 19.75 | 19.125 |
This was a warm wash, hang dry. If your plan is to wash this guy, be sure you size up, and go cold if those measurements were close for you. It ended up in pretty much a perfect place for me, works great over an undershirt and a button-up, and after the wash, I can still put on a coat fairly easily. Really enjoying this shirt, and after the wash it seems to have really differentiated itself from the Taylor Stitch Railroad Stripe I likened it to in an earlier post. In any event, I'm really happy with this guy, excited for the Wabisabi that I sized somewhat the same way (Slim XXL) since I know I'll be able to wash and wear, and then also really looking forward to wearing the Brown Black as a regular shirt. re-post for the horseman.

Very helpful. So, with the HS, seems like what you did (warm/cold wash, and hang dry) would bring my HS to a MUCH better fit. Sleeves will probably still be a bit long, but I can always do another wash with a hot dry to bring them in a bit more, if the chest/shoulders still have room to shrink on me (which is not likely, since I'm broad shouldered but short, with short arms. Perhaps what you did, and then a tailor can bring the sleeves in (luckily, my Mom can handle doing that. She can't chainstich hem heavy denim, but she can do most anything else with reasonable fabric weights). For the IxI, I think going the super hot soak and hot dry will be necessary. I'll def. record pre/post measurements of each. And fit pics, if I can get some take before I shrink 'em up. FWIW, I went WS crazy, and have the Postal Hbone, Wabasabi, and brownXblack all coming in (all in Classic L, which I've been pissed I didn't go M, but I went with my G shirt size, like most of us). Hopefully it works out that that was actually the right thing to do, size wise. Oh, and yesterday, right before heading out for an MRI that I was terrified about doing (60 minutes in the damn thing, and I'm claustrophobic like a MF'er) ...I checked the G-store, saw that the American Hbone was at 99%, and backed it (went to fully funded after, so I grabbed the last one). I only did it to give myself a distraction before I left the house, if that makes sense. The damn thing looks like it could be really tacky, or really cool ....I'm thinking some hard wear and a few washes will make a nice shirt out of it .... kill any sheen and soften it up. Either way, 6 G WS's is just .... stupid. lol. Especially since I haven't taken my IHSH-33 off since I got it a few weeks ago. That thing has become my Linus blanket. Seriously love that thing!

Wonder why you had different results. Either I give it a try, or I sell it as "tried on once" before I do anything to it - to some tall dude with ape like arms. Sucks that we have to make these decisions.

FourHorsemen; I soaked for about an hour and fifteen minutes. I cranked my water heater to max and did the same with the bath water. Fade factor was minimal. It lossed a good amount as the bath water was very blue but after the dryer cylce it visually did not change to a lighter shade. I did not use Woolite or any other detergent, just water

oh, one other thing I noticed that has nothing to do with shrinking but I thought was really cool...the first day I wore it outside in the sunlight I looked down at it through my polarized shades and the color in the sunlight just looked absolutely amazing. Only through the polarized lenses though...I mean I love the color as is but it looks like the richest, deepest, most vibrant indigo color you could imagine through the sunglasses...lol...it was such a trip! I felt like a stoner sitting there tripping out on my shirt man....yeaaahh!!!! (insert stoner laugh here...)

On a slightly related note, when I was at the doctors the other day and the nurse was about to take my BP, I went to roll pull up my sleeve (was wearing my orange eucalyptus plaid). She said "oh, don't worry ....looks like the shirt is thin enough to not need to do that". To which I replied, "it's 3oz Poplin". She looked at me like I was (literally) insane. As if that wasn't enough, she weighed me right after, and I added "and these jeans are 18oz Japanese denim - they add a couple pounds, for real". LMAO. She gave me a look I'll never forget. Even funnier, is I was at a Neurologist getting pre-examined for my MRI that he (the Neurologist) was scheduling. I guarantee you I made it into her dinner conversation that evening And rightfully so. I KNOW I'm not alone among you guys - but outside of our ilk, we are indeed a bit overly obsessed with fabrics etc. I'm glad to have met you gents

Everywhere i go (restaurants, friend of Kids house etc) People want to hang my jackets and i always say No its too heavy. I also get the look like im an alien. So i throw it on the floor and they are like !!!! And im like hey it will live. People are also always afraid of my jackets if its raining and im like hey if it cant stand water then its a bad jacket dun worry, and then im like worrying about getting wet on the jeans and they dont understand, and im like well i havent washed them for eight months and would really like to maintain the raw patina a little longer. At this point they usually Just shift subject.

No body gives a shit each time I say anything remotely like I would say in here. I get a lot of responses like "Wow, very educational" or "wow, thats cool" I think they are adding in the "WOW" to go along with what they are really thinking in their heads "WOW, what a loser" My family also likes having people call me about anything to do with denim. I get calls from people asking me about where can they get Diesel or True Religion jeans and then I think "WOW, what a loser"

My wife is not into my style today and I get no love from her. She is more into the Italian brands and she thinks everything I wear today is poor fit and too young for my age. She wants me to wear more tailor shirts and dressy shoes. Btw, she hates all plaid and flannel..... and 60% of my current shirts are those....

My wife has grown to like my plaids. She used to call them my "Earl" clothes - as in My Name Is Earl, AKA, redneck. That's OK with me. I no longer dress for others.

My Gustin Hickory Stripe Work Shirt. You can see two buttons have came loose already. You can also see two scopes sew up totally difference. Anyway, I paid $140 and this shirt is very likely the worst clothing purchase from the last five years. No doubt in my mind. Btw, those selvedge run off is totally silly... I am going to cut them off.
