aww, you guys remember how exciting this image was? Now all I can think of are the potential fit jokes with the way the pattern is offset on the stack. :/

DigDug; I'm tossing it in the dryer! High heat baby! Initial back length measurement is not looking promising, 31 7/8" out of the tub. Still an 1" 7/8 over my sweet spot

It sucks to try to do on mobile. The shirt looks like an absolutely lovely tunic there, though.

yep...that's pretty much how they look except even boxier at the waist/stomach area. Its seriously a horrible cut.

so guys, after doing an hour long hot soak and a high heat dryer cycle my IxI WS did indeed shrink....surprisingly well actually. Its not like it amazingly shrunk to the perfect fit or anything but it is wearable now, for sure, and it shrunk more than I expected but honestly I wasn't expecting any shrink at all. I wore it this morning to drop off my kids at school and I'm thinking it will work quite well as a shirt-jac. my only minor complaint is that the dryer cycle made the points on the collar want to curl up but I've been able to shape them back to form a bit.
Overall I am very pleasantly surprised. Measurements to follow

@wils; cool, hope it turns out good. You should see the most shrinkage in the overall length (sleeves and body) which is good because those were the two areas that were way over spec. on mine. I was hoping the waist would have shrunk but it didnt. It's boxier than I prefer but not to the point that it's not wearable, and it actually works in my favor as it allows some room for layering when using it as a shirt jac. The shrinking of the sleeves and length also made the roomy waist more tolerable and appear less baggy if that makes sense.

I am lazy.... so I just put in the washer and then the dryer and hope for the best. I am sure the shirt will see my tailor and expect to spend another $20-40 to make it wearable. Spending $140 for a shirt unseen is just not very smart and I will know better next time.

overall I'm satisfied. I'm glad I decided to hot soak it and dry it. Makes me more excited about the WabiSabi WS now knowing that they will shrink a bit.
Two other issues that aren't really deal breakers but should be improved:
-buttons seem poorly attached. It feels like my second button down from the top will fall off any minute. This is frustrating but not a huge deal I guess cause it seems I could get some buttons sewed on fairly easily.
- GUSTIN should have added a second button on the cuffs. The sleeve cuff openings are a bit too wide.

ickes ...great news. even better that you really only got shrinkage in length. i probably won't be able to afford much shrink through the chest/shoulders, but know the length will be comical. i hedged my bet and ordered a shirt from LD in the p.h.bone material (which is the ws i'm waiting for from gustin)...if the gustin item shows up next week over spec i'll probably just send it back.

Pre soak measurements (post hot soak high heat dry measurements) Chest: 46 (46) Shoulders: 18 1/2 (18 1/4) Waist: 44 1/2 (44 1/2) Sleeve: 37 1/4 (35 3/4) Center Back Length: 31 3/4 (30 3/4) So you got a ton of shrink in the overall length and sleeve length, but effectively none in any of the width measurements. Interesting. Must be something about the weave of the fabric that causes it to shrink in one direction but not the other? I wonder if Gustin knew this and that's why the initial cut is so odd. Assuming you ordered a L Classic, your post-soak and dry measurements are close to within tolerances. Still not great, but it suggests to me that maybe there was some thought behind it.

Mattbert; I was thinking the same thing when I measured it post soak/dry. Who knows....and yes I ordered a Large classic. Will be interesting to see how the WabiSabi and other materials sew up. All this being said though, I probably won't be ordering any more G WS.

Just got my HS Work shirt out from the dryer after a hot wash from the washer. The shirt shrinks A LOT. It is all wrinkle now but I feel the hem has been shorten 2-3 inches. The waist is still a bit boxy (not super horrible after the shrink) and the arm is very tight. However, it may work and I may not need to take the shirt to the tailor.

I think the HS fabric does shrink more than the other work shirts will, but am encouraged that Ickes got some shrink from his, if I need to shrink mine.

Since I am between L and XL I have only gotten XL lately and washed warm and tumbled dry all of them and they have shrunk up to be wearable. The Ocfords does curl alot since its dense material but it irons out fairly ok. They are still too long crisp fom the hanger but after sitting in for a bit and so they almost work untucked bc they get some wrinkles. So close...but still not close enough, so I usually just wear them tucked in, and almost always under a v-neck or other wool-sweater.

After the first one, one more button came off and the other one is coming loose after the shirt came out from the dryer. I needed to make sure I didn't lose the button since there is no spare.
Btw, I was finally able to try my Hickory Stripe work shirt after the washer/dryer. The shirt fit like a "dad shirt" before wash and now it is like a "skinny" shirt. The shoulder/sleeves/chest are tight but the sleeve is still a tag long. Fortunately, the length is ok now and the waist is less boxy. The fit is still not perfect but the fit is definitely better than pre-wash.
As I stated earlier, this is not a $140 shirt. With the considerations of the Hickory Stripe fabric, buttons, workmanship and "Made in USA", I am willing to pay $70 max for it. If this shirt is on the shelf in a J-crew, it probably will never catch my eyes.

Geez... Before attempting to sell my IxI, I told the gf to try it on because maybe she could repurpose it as a dress, because y'all know how they love to wear our clothes..... After putting it on, she said "Oh no. I can't wear this, it's toooooo long".
Woe is me!!!!!
