Yeah, it's definitely a personal thing and I figure if I post it here I'll feel accountable to it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just saying, for the group challenge, it's last as long as you can, and see who lasts the entire challenge. It's kind of a joke if one person joins the challenge late and fails it on a weekly basis, then states that they're restarting their 90 days. If you do your own personal challenge, then it's fine if you start it, fail it, restart it whenever you please. Fair enough! I will refrain from posting in this thread any longer for fear of making any jokes out of anything. Again, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

Uhh...well, you said "kind of a joke when one person..etc." Hence, I said I won't make it a "joke" by posting in your thread. Uhm...so...kinda confused.
Anyways, I am gonna go sip this nice Bulleit Rye and enjoy my evening. Namaste, dude, and all that jazz. Jazz...I think I'll put some of that on, too...

No good drops at TS and G really are helping. Also my summer wardrobe is pretty set which also keeps me away from Jcrew.

You can find it under other brands. It's probably the closest real threat that I've seen thus far, a whole 22 days in. I'll at least spare you guys by not posting a link... #denimenabling

The less I check this site the better for my wallet. It's very curious to me why all you 90 day folks are bothering to continue to check and post things here. Avoiding this community (*cough* ickes *cough*) seems like a good head start to not spending money.

Avoiding this community (*cough* ickes *cough*) seems like a good head start to not spending money. For me this challenge isn't about the money (though it's helping), it's about learning self discipline. Its a good way to keep myself in check. Over the past two years I've allowed myself 1 new, nice, quality item a month. But as my taste in better quality has gone up and the price I'm willing to spend also gone up. I saw a need to buy less and be more thoughtful in what I'm buying. So the 90 day no spend is the beginning of a pay more fewer times. For example, I would have never thought of paying $250 for a shirt. But I'd buy 5,6 shirts at Marshall's every month, costing me $150 (most would end up not being used and given away). Now I'll consider buying a IH shirt. But only a couple times a year. Better quality less money.

I definitely feel with the 90 Day No Spend things that used to tempt me don't tempt me anymore. I have my eyes on much higher quality items than I used to have. Shell boots/shoes vs. on sale calfskin Wolverines/Red Wings/AEs. Strike Golds/Momos vs. Gustin denim (besides Japan Taupes/SBs). BB/SS suits/blazers vs. on sale JCrew Ludlow suits/blazers. I don't think I will make it through all 90 days, but if I do end up failing the challenge, it'll be because I spent money on higher quality items that I don't have much of, rather than good quality cheap items that I have an abundance of.
By the end of 2015, I'm going to replace my calfskin boots (2 pairs of Beckmans, 1 pair of Rockfords) with a pair or two of shell boots. My calfskin dress shoes (2 pairs of AE McAllisters, 2 pairs of Strands, 1 pair of Fifth Aves) with a pair of shell Strands, and a pair of shell Park Aves. My three JCrew peacoats with the Bond Peacoat. All my JCrew/BB Factory suits with a navy and a grey suit from BB or SuitSupply. Most of my Gustin denim for a pair of mud weft Strike Golds, and a pair of IndigoxBlack Momos.
It all starts with a no spend, and a downsizing of stuff in my closet.

The bad thing about acquiring expensive taste is that it only gets more expensive as time goes by! I remember being 16yrs old working my first job going in to Aeropostale thinking " How does anyone afford a $25 t-shirt?!?!?" My how the times have changed.....

I dont know guys, I may falter on this TS denim shirt. I like the TS fit (it just works for me), there price I'm assuming will be reasonable, all the trimmings are there (right pockets, triple needle, run off) But it's the 8oz that I'm likeing. Usually a denim shirt is heavy 12+oz and mostly used as an over shirt. Not this one, its a nice lighter weight denim. It'll come down to how the denim looks (if its a nice saturated indigo). http://instagram.com/p/4U8qcQos85

The shirt is already available in the workshop, $98 preorder and $128 later. I really don't mind the pockets and the buttons look great.

I like the cognac color but I wouldn't buy it unless I saw the finish product how the sew up. I don't see myself spending $375 on them mainly because of fitting issues. Plus I have enough boots.

There's such a thing as "enough boots"? That's probably why we all signed up for this thread...it's like saying "I have enough jeans."

But I'm really really skeptical on footwear and ordering without being able to try them on with brands I have no experience with. It's tempting - the price is where a nice but not ridiculous pair should be, and I like the colors...have to research on the sizing, fit and comfort before I take that plunge...
