word of advice when buying a cpo...if at all possible, go with melton wool. And just get the Apolis one. Thank you, bugula, you are my denim-colored Yoda. one day we'll all accept that he's right and we'll all be wearing 3sixteen truckers under Apolis CPOs.

Did you read my post? I think the TS one is super ugly, too. Uglier than the Apolis. They're both ugly. Hah. I think you may be out of your element. Donnie.

I was just looking at the maritime shirt jacket and thinking how badass it looks. No go though? 19oz donegal wool has me thinking...

Still the comically large pockets and comically large buttons. Plus 19 oz. of felted wool (will NOT breathe) is gonna be hot as balls.
Also, a $100 cotton J.Crew-esque sweater. Meh.

I was just looking at the maritime shirt jacket and thinking how badass it looks. No go though? 19oz donegal wool has me thinking... That's what I thought when I first saw them a few years ago. Those campaign pics are deceiving though. When I received it and saw it in person I was completely turned off by it. I'm not trying to sound dramatic here and I'm not knocking TS cause they make a very well cut shirt in most cases, but I have never been more let down by an internet clothing purchase in my life than I was with this Maritime shirt. I tried it on and within seconds I was like.."this shirt is terrible"..lol. Immediately I put it back in the box and returned it the next day. But other guys here love them so it you want to try it then go for it. You can anyways send it back if you don't like it.

The Black Watch wool JeanMaker may get I believe is 15oz. I'm trying to figure out how that would feel/look.

IIRC the Navy Maritime is a lighter fabric than the new Maritimes. Yes. The old Maritimes were 15 oz. (and then 16 oz.) Woolrich Melton wool (lighter, will breathe) vs. 19 oz. boiled/felted wool (thick, fibers really really tight together from the "boiling" process to make it wind resistant, will not breathe). The difference in feeling will be significant. There is no way for this to be worn as a shirt in my mind. It's a jacket. They should give up and call it that. I mean they are suggesting you wear it over their sweater. Felted wool is really for frigid temps. You northern Midwesterners and New Englanders could probably handle one. The rest of us, nah. Please don't buy this thinking you are getting a "shirt" or "shirt jac," guys. It's really just a pocketless wool jacket.

You get more ice, but conversely, you get more swamp-ass since DC was a swamp. Still is, by all accounts. Heh.

Dew) one hit and that was painful. 30 below and wind on top of it. made me want to get back to balmy 20 degree DC.

Also, that Navy Crater shirt is having a hard time funding. That's a surprise. The ash is nicer, but not twice as nice.
